As a Florida State fan it always pains me to see Florida do well (not nearly as much as it pains me to see Miami do well!) but Florida deserves it because they lost one game on a controversial call (in which they never surrendered a single touchdown to Auburn's offense, btw) and they won their conference - one of the major conferences featuring many top teams. Michigan is very good. Maybe better than Florida. But they didn't win their conference and also have one loss. So I'd put in the team with the same number of losses who actually did win their conference.
Yes, but the team that did win the Big Ten is currently #1 in the nation. Michigan went
into Columbus, and almost beat them. Florida hasn't won the SEC in dominating fasion. Not at all. They lucked out of a few of those games. Heck, they almost lost to Tennessee, winning by a mere one point. (a point I REALLY wished coulda gone the other way. Go Vols!) They beat LSU by 13, and in football, 13 points really isn't a whole lot. They lost to freaking two-loss Auburn. They squeaked by Georgia. They beat South Carolina by only 1. Yeah, they put up 62 the next game, but that was to, OMG FEAR!!!!....Western Carolina,

and probably one of the worst FSU teams in a while almost beat them for crying out loud. Not to mention they only beat Arkansas by 10.
Michigan demolished, I say again...DEMOLISHED several Big-Ten teams, such as Michigan State, Indiana, and Minnesota. (not to mention our non-confrence beatdowns of Central Michigan and Notre Dame) You didn't see us just squeaking by teams on the same scale as South Carolina. If Ohio State was in another confrence, we would have won the Big-Ten easy. However, they arn't, but they are the #1 team in the nation, and a guarenteed naitonal champion, who almost lost to Michigan at Columbus. I hear people saying that Michigan shouldn't get in because they didn't win their confrence. Well they lost to the almost given national champs by not a whole lot. (3 points) Like someone else has said, what more does it take?
If college football had a playoff system we wouldn't have to worry about this crap every year. It is completely disgusting and vile that there is no playoff in NCAA Div I football just so the college presidents can get richer at the expense of fairness to the ath-uh-leets.
Completely agree except for the last statement. There is a playoff system ready, they just can't figure out how to split up the profits.
As for Ohio State being hands down better than everyone else and that they should coast through any opponent in the quasi-championship game: Oklahoma was supposed to be slaughtered by FSU. Ohio State was supposed to be slaughtered by Miami. Texas was supposed to be slaughtered by USC. That's why they play the game.
...actually if I remember right, Ohio State and Miami was supposed to be a very close game, (which it was, and IMO the best national title game ever)...and USC-Texas was supposed to be close. I could be wrong though.
