So Im Planning a trip in February.......and today I got something special to save for

That is AWESOME, and your DF is certainly a sweetie!!

I just have a simple large wooden box that my DH made me, with one slot on top and sunken screws so the only way to open it is by power drill....Therefore, my money is safe because I am tool-impaired! :rotfl:

Yeah DF is a sweetie i have him hooked on disney too we went in jan and he wasnt to sure about going to disneyland but he now loves it and we are planning out next trip in feb 2010!!:cool1:

Yeah market that boy's talent....
I was really thinking about getting "off the debit" this year too and using more cash. That would give me change...
I do tend to spend less money if it is cash also. We just had a garage sale too- first one I ever had. Our neighborhood is starting a neighborhood garage sale thing every year so I just thought I'd join in- wow live and learn..next year I'll know better though to put signs up with my address as most of the signs they put up directed people to a steet one down from me-I'd see 'em coming down the street then turning, over and over through our trees.:sad2:
I dumpster dive college campus moveout so even if I don't have a lot of stuff left to sell (right) from whats left of cleaning and organizing my house- I have the garage, family room and hopefully my son will let me go through his room some--he resisted the idea this time. I leave a lot of good stuff dumpster diving college campus simply because we have no use for it and I don't want to have to clean it all to donate, so this will be good. It bothers me to leave good usable stuff to a landfill. What we don't sell we'll donate to St. Vincent like this time and get the tax receipt.

That is SO cute!! Love it (and what a great surprise!)

Saving, let's see. I have a clay jar that says "money to burn " on the front. I put any change I have in there. I'd save a lot more if I could bring myself to put my ones in there too but I just can't do it. Still trying to break my debit card habit and go back to cash, so baby steps are required. lol

I have a jar that says "Extra Dough" on it.... the problem is DH and DS think it's a great place to find a few bucks :rotfl2:

I always find that saving change is the best way for me and the fact that I live in australia and we have 2 and 1 dollar coins that go into my Mickey bank too...

It makes it add up really fast.

We have $1 and $2 coins too, so they do add up quickly!!!

That is so beautiful!! What a geniune gift of love. happy saving and even better happy spending when you come! We are leaving friday for DL for a week... SOO excited !

so I wanted to chime in on the way we have been saving for vacations. We switched to Wachovia, and use their way2save accounts. We use nothing but our debits for everything! I NEVER have cash. But when using our debit for anything, it adds on $1 to every transaction and puts it in this 'way2save' acct for us. The bank has some kind of match system also. We have not noticed the extra $1 at all, and it sit's in a separate acct for us. It's a little harder to withdraw from, so it's not something we can just on a weekly basis, which is good for us. For us this is like the spare change way of saving, but without cash!

That is a COOL MICKEY BANK:thumbsup2 Good luck on saving for your trip!!!!!

No advice as I'm planning for my family's first trip, but I did want to say that box is fantastic!

That is a cool money box!

I like this idea. I think I'll look into it. It's true, we really wouldn't notice one dollar extra per transaction, but I bet it would add up fast considering how much we use out debit card. Thanks for posting it.

I love it! Very nice bank!

Mine is pretty boring, but holds a lot of change.

We cashed it out right before our trip in March and had around $300.

This is what we have filled it to as of now :

We are having a yard sale this Saturday, so wish us luck. We are not looking forward to the hard work, but hopefully the $$$ will make it worth our while.
