Hi All,
So i get called upstairs into the chiefs office the other day at work.First thing i think is nothing good can come of this,why you ask cause of the way i was called upstairs. I was in the office at the fire house Looking at the fdny dispatch computer.This is the computer that list all the jobs/runs/911 calls for the whole city.Just kinda checking out what going on in my city.Some physco is hold cops and FDNY units at bay and trying to job off the empire state building from the roof.This was a stunt gone bad and you might have seen it on the news.Anyway the phone beeps and goes into intercom mode and its the FDNY # 5 man in the whole department,he say " captain so and so is mrFDNY at work yet?I say yes he is and this is him.He says then get into my office now and slams and i mean slams the phone down" I start the nervous walk up one flight of stairs.I start thinking what did i do?Nothing that i could remember.I enter his office and he says sit and be quiet.I was sweating so bad and this guys was really being mean to me.It had to be something bad,real bad!
So he ask's me " do you like money?" In the FDNY in a way to punish you if you screw up,they will hold a hearing and take pay from you as punishment.Just being invitied to this hearing means you will lose money,maybe a days pay but i have seen guys lose whole months of pay and vacation.This is the first thing i thought of,i thought that i had done something wrong,very wrong and he the chief was inviting me to the hearing on how much time or money i would lose.I was so scared,very scared.I could feel my heart pounding.Maybe i screwed something up so bad,that someone died because of me,how bad would i feel.So i say "sir i love money very much"He say's "i know you do,you seem to spend every dollar you make at disney" and its true and i don't mind admitting to that.So he looks at me and kinda is stalling to tell me what he knows,just to watch me sweat a little more.Sick man he his to do this to one of his guys.
So i blurt it out and say "what did i do?" he looks at me and says" its not what you did do,but what you did'nt do"Oh my God, I messed up something so bad and forgot to do something,and by the looks of it,it is somethnig big.So the chief looks at me and says "i really don't think you like money that much cause if you did you would pay attention to your pay stubs more offen.It's great news,The city of new york has been short changing me on all my checks.From jan 1999.I'm supposed to get a raise every year topping out at my 5th year as top pay.I am only getting paid like i am on the job 1 year or less.I never paid attention to it before,cause i do like 36 hours of overtime every two weeks,so when i get my checks they are always big(its very easy to do 36 hrs o.t. in 2 weeks when your job is open 24 hours a day,7 days a week)So the city is gonna pay me what they owe me in back pay!!!I'm sure i won't see that much after they tax the poop out of it,but every extra penny counts.Its like unexpectied money,you did'nt know you had comming showing up.
And can you guess where i plan to spend every penny of this owed money at??
