I know right? Psychologically, it's been weird because of the whole, me turning her age and actually outliving her' thing. Then this happens. I'm in a very weird place right now and I'm planning on talking to a counselor at my church very soon to work through some things. I know there's a plan but I'm shaken to the core right now.

I'm glad you're alive to be shaken to the core. I don't mean that in a snide, sarcastic way. You have guardian angels watching out for you. They've brought you this far. Let them take you through the counseling as you search for your part in the plan. Prayers and healing thoughts as you mend.

I almost died 3 years ago. I felt bad one day. If it had been winter I'd have probably thought it was the flu. A few hours later I told my DH to call an ambulance as I could not even walk to the car to go to the ER. I don't remember much about the next 10 days. The good news is that I was not aware how sick I was (sepsis) until it was all over. My best friend had died of brain cancer on the same day I went to ER. I almost joined her. Our other best friend (college roommates) told me that if I'd died too she would have killed me.

LoriAnn - so sorry that you had to go through all of this, but so happy that you made it through and are on the road to recovery. I went through something like that too and they had to resect 12 inches of my colon. It got stuck in the hernia.Which they repaired after my radiation.

Take it easy, One day at a time. Hope Gracie gives you lots of TLC too.

Praying Jer. 29:11 for you. I am glad you have someone you can talk to. Wishing you His peace and strength.

I did find out it took me a while to get use to eating food again and only in small amounts for a while too.

Monday was supposed to be my first day teaching preschool this year. Sunday night, I was feeling normal when I went to bed.
In the middle of the night, I woke up with the worst pain I had ever had in my belly, right near my belly button. Going to the bathroom, position changes, nothing soothed it for very long. Then I started vomiting and noticed that my pain had moved to my right side. I thought, 'oh great! Appendicitis, just what I need'. Went to the ER and it turned out my small bowel has become twisted and there were multiple adhesions. I ended up having four inches of bowel resected and had never been so sick. The doctors told me after surgery that it didn't look for my chances and if there had been any blood supply cut off, it could have been fatal.
The oddest thing about this whole experience is that my Mother died at the same age I am now of the same thing and Tuesday was the 25th Anniversary of my father's death. This week has been filled with prayer and lots of praise and worship music singing me to sleep. God blessed me nightly, giving me the discernment to seek help and allowing good skilled doctors to be able to save me.

Oh wow, so scary! I think about how I am one of those that wait forever in hopes of things passing...that would have been fatal in this case. I'm glad you got yourself medical attention and are still here today, OP!
