So how long until Soarin' gets "Up"ped?

Ugh, I hope not! There are other rides much more in need of a revamping, a couple of which have already been mentioned. I hope Disney would worry about those and leave Soarin' well enough alone!

ive posted this a few weeks ago... i heard from a very reliable source (higher up in disney suits) that they are presently filming soaring over the world.

And something like this has been rumored since Soarin' opened at Epcot to ultimately replace the California film. It definitely makes sense, given the attraction is in Epcot & in Florida.

I hope it never does!!

A new Soarin' would be gret-- over the world- wonderful... but not an "UP" ride... PLEASE!!!

I may be in the minority here, but I (nor my kids, nor Dh) thought "UP" was all that and a bag of chips.... it was OK, I actually found it boring... glanced at my watch a couple of times during it...

Making Test Track a Cars ride wouldn't be the smartest idea, since the height requirement on it would mean that many of Cars key demographic would be unable to ride

I saw the same thing in a newpaper or on the news some where. Sort of like the 360 in Disneyland (way back when) When they did China in the morning and I think US or another country in the afternoon. Would be nice to see other areas of the world.

Though I have never been to Soarin in Epcot. I am spoiled having the original and not waiting in line.

My biggest wish for Disney is that they will redo the speedway in Magic Kingdom. Is there anything more misplaced and outdated than that?

Me and the hubby have been saying it'd be great if they updated the speedway with the vehicles in Cars.

no not jim hill. i dont know what jim hill you are talking about. the only jim hill i know is my exfather in law and i dont think hes ever been to disney.

and i also agree they NEED to do somthing with the race track (whatever its called this year) its definatly the red headed stepchild of all the parks.

Does anyone else think that Soarin will be revamped to be an "up" attraction at some point? Seems to me like it would be an easy change and I wonder if they do it.

God no! :crazy2:

That would be as stupid as if WDW were to change ExtraTERRORestrial into some lame Stitch ride. Oh wait... :headache:

Not to mention the hordes of alienated guests. :furious:

I dont think they'd do such a stupid thing. :snooty:

I was always really surprised that it was Soarin over California and not Florida - i think that this lets the ride down somewhat (even though it is my absolutely favourite ride) could you imagine how lush it would be to fly over kennedy space centre and the everglades and the keys wow!

I may be in the minority (haven't read the whole thread), but i think an "Up" themed version of Soarin' could be fun. Of course, it would have made more sense if it was ready now so that people enjoying the movie could go to the parks and check out the ride. I know Lasseter was talking about the possibility of developing park attractions or rethemes alongside of new movies so that the ride would be there when the movie opens, but I guess the bad economy and the business of getting Disney's animation department back into shape have put that idea on the back burner. Anyway, I just saw the movie and liked it very much and while I kind of agree that not every ride needs to be character themed, I wouldn't mind seeing some kind of ride based on "Up," even if it isn't a reworking of Soarin'.

Whether or not it gets turned into "Soarin' with Carl and Russell," I think Soarin' could use a little work. Because frankly, I think it's just a little overrated. I'm glad we did ride it, but doubly glad that we did so with Fastpasses, because I can't seem myself spending 90 minutes in line for it. In my opinion, there is a very simple thing they could do to improve the ride: make the transitions in the film seamless. The big problem for me (aside from enjoyment of the ride not quite making up for time spent in line) is that they spend so much time on the setting up the theme of a real flight and then ruin it by cutting from scene to scene, as if to say "Now don't forget, you're actually just watching a movie." How hard would it be to have clouds pass by to cover the transition from shot to shot so that it really feels like one continuous flight instead of a movie with motion effects?
