I have spent way too much time trying to get correct information and book our dining! Why is it so hard to get things done sometimes? Just venting :sad2:

For all of our past split stay trips we have been able to book all dining at 180 days out from first day of our trip. Now I am being told this is impossible ( and always has been.)

And the refillable mug just seems like one big "we will just have to wait and see."

With the need for all of this way ahead planning it would be great if I could, well, plan ahead.:confused3

The mug is length of stay== for 14 days. We were able to use the mug at both places in Dec. As for the Dining. We could only get the ADR for 10 days from the day of arrival. I was even able to get a few days after the first stay

I cannot get dining past first 3 days of an 8 night trip, until 180 days from start of 2nd resort, then the same for the third. Maddening.

That is correct. It has been this way for awhile. 180 + 10 is really a misnomer. It is 180 + Length of Stay up to 10 nights. Each reservation is a separate stay and must be booked from the checkin date of that stay.

Nope. We have done this every trip. Maybe its changed, but we were also told this every other trip before someone knew what to do to override the system or whatever they do. We could not do it online, and had to call, but easily did the whole trip's worth of dining. I have it all planned out- called- told no ( just like last time and the time before....)

What the pp said is correct. As for the mug...it automatically is activated for 14 days now so you can use it for all of your split stay.

The system has been updated, yes. It was never intended that you get 10 days from your first day of booking, regardless of length of booking. If you have a split stay, it's 180+length of stay, then 180+length of stay for each individual booking. They are not considered one booking, and split stay is an internet term. It does not exist in Disney systems.

I know you could do it in the past. But as -auroraborealis- says the system has been updated to its intended usage. Each reservation has its own single length of stay.
Sorry you are frustrated.

When was the change? I'm totally fine if that in fact is the policy, but since we have been told that is the policy before, and then found out all we had to do was call...
Thanks for the sympathy and help!

I have 3 separate reservations for my upcoming trip. I had to get up at 5am to make dining reservations on 3 separate days even after calling just to see if making them all at one time was possible. I was told that in the past it was possible for a CM to override it but that is no longer the case. It really wasn't a big deal.

Its not a big deal- but I find it frustrating with different answers and policies. We've been told different things about the mugs, too. Some insist they are activated for 14 days if you buy them, some say if you get them with the meal plan they will be good for all resorts for 14 days, others say they will not work when meal credits expire....

Last year. Up til then you could call and the castmember could override the system. That capability has now been removed and the castmember can no longer do it.

The price structure and length of time the mugs are valid changed last year. They are now good for 14 days whether they are included in the dining plan or purchased out of pocket.

Glad I saw this! I have a split stay coming up and didn't even think that I'll have 2 separate ADR "rope-drops". Sigh. At least I know now!

Okay so you all are telling me that if we get the meal plan for our first three nights, we will have mugs for the whole 9 days? I started this question awhile back because it just seems crazy. People could stay at a value and get the QS plan for one night, then mugs for whole family for 2 weeks? Most people said yes. Disney of course laughed and said no. Personally, I have been told no. But we are considering doing a dining plan for a few nights, booking our expensive dinners at the start of our trip, and saving $70 on mugs!

Yes. They are auto set for 14 days upon activation. And while someone could buy the mugs on their own or get it with a one day meal plan, they're only good at the resorts so there's not a huge benefit if they won't be there much.

I think its an amazing deal and don't get it- but it will be great for us with two teen boys and lots of pool time!
