I just spent 40 mins on the phone with Disney and I am so frustrated I am in tears. First of all they can't find me in the system. I was just there in January and apparently I am no longer in the system. I inquired about the AAA discount I saw on Mousesavers.com. She had no idea what I am talking about. Ok fine.. I just want to book the room then and hope a discount becomes available for 11/15-11/22. We are a family of 5 so our cheapest option is POR. She said they have no rooms at POR. So looks like we won't be going to Disney afterall? I can't afford a Suite or anything else and I don't want to stay off site.

Skip the phone CM hassle. I just checked the website and POR has every room category available for your dates.

I am sorry you had a frustrating experience. Personally I prefer to book online because I can easily compare all of my options. I would be shocked if there are not any special offers for November but they probably won't be announced until late Summer. You can either book now and see if they will adjust the rate when special offers are announced (usually no problem) or you can wait and see what is offered.

If you want a AAA discount then use a AA travel agent. I always book through them rather than on the site or through Disney. I always get a better price through AAA and if a new discount comes through they will apply it.

Thanks, I checked online and the rooms are available. The CM I talked to seemed liked she had no training whatsoever. I think I'll book online and pray for other discounts.

Sorry you're frustrated :( I agree with the comments about booking online--it was really easy for me. Plus you don't have to sit on hold! You could also try using a TA--you don't pay anything extra for it and they can deal with a lot of the hassle for you.

As for the AAA discount--from what I've heard/read, it is no longer available at Disney--something about not being able to reach an agreement (unless this has changed).

Check over at the Discounts section here and there should be a November 2014 codewatch thread (or will be soon). Then keep an eye out and as soon as that discount is announced, you should jump on the phone to get it applied. Because you're in a 5 person room, those rooms may very well be limited so you'll need to get in as early as you can.

From my experience, that week always has some sort of discount.

Have you looked at All-Star Music Family Suites? They could be comparable in price with a discount if you can't get into POR. Those rooms are nice and have a kitchenette as well. A cabin is nice too, but those will probably run at least $50 more than the POR room per night. But with that you get a full kitchen, so you could easily make up that cost with some meals in your room.

Did you get the CM's name or hang on for the survey afterward? That person should absolutely be reported, I have never had an experience like you described. Sounds like they are throwing anyone on the phones because calls probably take longer now because of the FP+ and MDE stuff.

I just recently booked a room at POP and the CM gave me a 10% AAA discount, so the AAA discount must still be available...at least for room only.

Have you looked at renting DVC points? The studios at GF and the studios being refurbished at WL have the Murphy bed for 5 people. We are planning a week in NOV too and the studios are about the same $ as POR and CBR and you get the toaster and microwave to help save more $ on food.

I have looked into it and didn't realize GF studio fit 5! Now I kind of want to go there haha. I think POR would be the best bet if a good offer comes out (what I am hoping for) I will definitely need to book GF in the future though!

I didn't get here name. And I kept asking to speak to a manager and she would keep telling me no :( I hung up before the survey. I am definitely keeping an eye out for discounts and praying for free dining!

I know you were frustrated but it would of helped doing the survey and rating the CM accordingly. I have heard that management really does pay attention to those surveys.

The AAA discount is still available. I was given a quote on a RO this morning by a CM. It may depend upon the resort/room type and availability?

You can't use it on tickets unless you book through AAA.

Whenever I get a bad CM that doesn't seem to know anything, I hang up and call again. You will get a different CM. I like booking online too because you get a confirmation print out right away.

I was reading through the thread and wanted to throw in my two cents. The management does pay attention to the surveys. Last year on Memorial Day weekend we stayed at CBR. After our stay I got a survey by email. We had a horrible experience at the food court. The resort was not staffed for the crowd level and service was horrible. I mentioned that on the survey, while pointing out the good stuff as well. I got a phone call two days later from a manager, who then sent me a 50.00 dinning card in the mail.
So anyway, they do pay attention to the surveys

I just booked through a AAA TA and the discount is stil available. I booked it on 2/11/14

Call back and get a different CM.

I just booked 2 separate room reservations (one at POR) for August. I used a AAA room discount. If a better deal comes up later you can change it. You can use My Disney Experience now and set up your ADR's. well, probably not now because you're not going till Nov. but when you're eligible.

It is true that when you use AAA room discount through Disney you cannot book a package. So, If you don't get a better deal before 60 days before your trip, buy your tickets separately, either through mousesavers or Disney. One CM told me separate tickets are available at AAA offices, just like if you picked up a Sea World ticket, but I haven't checked so can't confirm.
Then, you simply link up your tickets through My Disney Experience and you can make your 60 day out fast pass plus selections and also be fairly confident at that point that your discount is the best your going to do, since in my experience 3-4 months out you know if you're getting other discounts or pins.
If something better, no prob., call Disney yourself and modify your reservations.
