So frustrated with my guide! Ready to tell them to cancel it!

I hope your new guide is the same that we have - he is AWESOME! :cool1:

Welcome home, and have a great "first" trip!

I am always a benefit of a doubt type of person. Who knows what the delay was and could have been anything from a personal emergency to being pulled by DVC for something that got him from finalizing the paperwork.

Even if it was an incompetent guide, don't worry about being processed twice, DVC can undue anything that is done in error. Remember, this is a long term investment and I would not start off with a lot of stress or with a mentality of "maybe I should cancel", it usually results in buyers remorse later. Enjoy your membership and roll with the punches, you can always contact member satisfaction or a manager if you don't feel things are progressing within reason.

Either way, they have you back on track and that is the good thing. Buying direct, you have the benefit of being able to make a reservation immediately with your points, so don't stress too much about it.

We went on the DVC tour in May of 2009. The guide who took us on the tour was not exactly what we expected of Disney. Everybody we'd spoken to had told us that the DVC tours were no-pressure and that we'd enjoy a tour. The guy walked us into the tour rooms... rushed us out of the AKV room and into the BLT room... took a cell phone call while we were in there, then put us in a room for 5 minutes while he got some stuff together.

He went over everything with us, and was REALLY pushing BLT on us the whole time. When we asked questions about AKV, he pretty much ignored them and deflected the questions. We wanted to join that day... but the experience really left a sour taste in our mouths. We knew we'd be joining, but wanted to talk about it first... so he told us he'd let us talk and left the room for about 10 minutes.

We discussed it while he was out and we said that we'd wait until we got home to join because we wanted to move some money around between different accounts. When the guide came back in, we told him what our plan was and he told me:

"If you don't join today, you might as well not bother joining at all. You're going to miss out on this deal. It expires the day you leave the property, which is tomorrow. I don't see what would make you want to wait. It makes no sense."

The 'deal' he was talking about was printed on the paperwork he handed me and was valid through July of that year. That really ticked me off, so we said forget it. We went to get our kids... and he 'escorted' us through the ice cream area. There were about 10 people in there at the time and he said that we were free to wait, but he had other clients he needed to deal with. He then said that usually, they won't serve ice cream to anybody unless they purchase, but he wasn't going to make our kids pay for our 'mistake'.

We walked through the doors and into a van which took us back to our resort. We decided we wouldn't be purchasing DVC through this guy. In January of 2010, we called up DVC and they put us back in touch with the same guide because he was 'our guide'. I hung up the phone, called back DVC and requested a supervisor... I told him that I'd be purchasing but NOT through that guide. Within 2 minutes, my phone rang and we spoke with a WONDERFUL guide who was EXTREMELY patient and helpful... and we purchased that day.

7 days later, the paperwork arrived. We filled it out, had it notarized and sent it back... and we couldn't be happier that we did.

I'm sorry for your experience... but sometimes there are just bad apples. I'm happy your experience turned around!

Welcome Home!

This is almost exactly what happened to us at the end of January 2009!! Almost exactly. Probably the same guy. Absolutely unbelievable how Disney lets these people stay with the company. They HAVE to know what's going on, don't they?

There are many wonderful guides....don't let one bad apple ruin your future vacations.

Yes they know they hired them, they are doing exactly what DVC wants them to do.

We took the tour August of 2007. our guide was nice walked us thru the 2 deals that were going on at the time. They were really pushing SSR at the time and also selling AKL, We weren't sure ,and she told us go home and think about it,and let her know what we thought.,,,Well long story short ,we bought a nice 190 point resale Dec.08',and she has remained our guide anyway.(We're thankful for that). When we were visiting in August of 09' we bought a small 61 point contract thru her.

My point is some guides are there for you even if you don't buy thru them at first and it's a good relationship,,,

Enjoy,
AND WELCOME HOME
