I am getting married in July 2012 on July 3rd. We are planning on driving and arriving to Disney for our honeymoon on July 6th. I would love to stay for around 14-18 nights. We want to do the dinning plan as we loved it last December. We called Disney and of course have no pin codes The rate they gave us I almost fell out of my chair! almost 5,000!!! We can't afford that ugh.... I hate to pay rack rate because its July! We can't wait to take our honeymoon. I am just so frustrated and I want to book our honeymoon, but I don't want to spend 5,000 on it. I joined AAA so that is our next step.... I am so worried that we won't be able to have our dream honeymoon, its bad enough we have to stay at a value resort

I priced the following package for you: Check in 6 July/Check out 20 July (14 nights) at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside (moderate resort vice Value). 10 day base ticket package and the Quick Service dining plan.....total $4662.

At All Star Movies and All Star Music, that same package is $3993.

If you upgrade to the regular dining package at the Value resorts, the price goes up to $4512 and at POR the price goes up to $5181.

Disney is not cheap. We just got back from a week's stay there last night. We did 7 nights in a moderate with the deluxe dining plan and our military tickets and we still spent $2570....and that was with a 35% miltary discount on the room rate.

1) I love Disney, but 14-18 nights is a long time to stay, you can do a lot in 8-10 days and that will save you a lot of moolah.

2) I disagree with one of the pp - there's no guarantee that promotions will come out for that time frame. If they come out, great, you have more budget for other things. But having just come back in October, I can tell you that there were no general public room discounts for that time frame, and there were many blackout dates for free dining. So, there really is no guarantee that you will get a discount, although if you are flexible with your dates (for example, will you be willing to take your honeymoon in mid-late August?), you will likely find good discounts.

3) I totally agree with the other pp - it's too early for Disney to send out pins/promotions for July. I think the earliest you will see promotions for summer will be in late February/early March, but even more likely that you may have to wait until May.

4) Even if you are on the DDP, don't forget to budget for things not included, such as alcohol, tips. If you are really staying for at least 2 weeks, those will really add up.

I say go for 9 nights, stay at a Mod for about $3500 with reg diningplan. Cheaper than the 14 nights and still a descent length stay!

I disagree with this somewhat....we don't always get what we Want......first good lesson in married life?..... Learn to compromise. I agree, a honeymoon is nice, but with a little compromise, and realistic planning, it will go a long way to making that Disney moon dream a reality.....10 days is still a perfect amount of time to explore and have time to see most things with a little breathing room. I would probably be bored at Disney after 18 days there! And I LOVE Disney..... Packages don't even go that high for that many days, which could be adding to a lot of the expense. Why not try pricing mods for 10 days with either QS or Basic Dp? I am sure if you look at ALL the options, you can make a nice plan and have a memorable and fun honeymoon without going overboard.....just pull it in a little and decide where you can compromise to make it work! you'll be married,sharing a Fun honeymoon in Disney, the rest is just Gravy....look at all your options with an open mind, and do what you can afford, with some planning and compromise I am sure you can come up with something that will work for you Congrats on the wedding!

I have to agree. If the resort is a huge part of your stay, then downgrade to a Moderate, or shorten your trip. If you go and stay at a Value resort for the time you have listed, and you are already in a bad frame of mind, I worry that you will not have a great honeymoon.

Decide which is more important to you, the length of the trip or the resort, and then choose accordingly. Sometimes you can't have it all, even when planning a dream trip.

I would look into renting DVC points. in this scenario your best bet is DVC points and annual pass... or buy annual passes and then get the annual pass rate on the room i believe if you have passes you can still buy dining plan though not certain. I know that you can add the dining plan to dvc rental without buying tickets. Defiantly if you are staying that long annual pass and annual pass rates if they exist during that time is the best way to go... or postpone your honey moon to a more pleasant time if year like end of october/beginning november the weather is so much better and better deals can be had.

We took our honeymoon at Disney. All we could afford at the time was a Value. I was thankful we both had jobs and the means to go anywhere period. And that was in a good economy. Sorry, but I can't feel bad for people complaining that staying in a Value or not being able to go for 16 days is unfair. There are many Disney fanatics on this board who can't afford to take a trip this year.

I don't know if you ever stayed at a value resort before, but for my last trip I was at POP. The rooms had just been redone and they work for two people very nicely. There's a lot to see at pop and you could get a room facing the water. Sure, it's not a deluxe, but it is Disney and I found that the CMs at POP were great. Just make the best of it and have a great time.

And there is still the possibility that a discount could come out. Keep your fingers crossed!

For my DH and I we decided whether we would want to spend more on our honeymoon or our wedding. We decided to spend less on the wedding part and more on the honeymoon.

Also, decide if the location (deluxe/mod/value) or the length of trip is most important. You may also think of "registering" for Disney gift cards for your wedding.

Hope you find a way to get the trip you want.

You compared it to, "every one of us on this board would love to take a 3 week vacation" - the OP's hoping for a 2-2.5 week honeymoon. Not some standard family vacation. The occasion is quite different, not that it apparently matters.

Also, with all due respect - the boards are here to help. Your post wasn't helpful in anyway other than to rail the OP's poor choice of wording. You don't understand people complaining. I don't understand people who complain about the complaining... and put guilt trips on people by making 'harsh' (your words) comparisons to others vacations, income, cars, dogs, cats, or the economy. Should we suggest the OP stay in a cardboard box because that's all WE could afford ...or think she could afford?

Besides, the OP is familiar with values - she's just looking for HELP to better plan her Disneymoon with discounts/pins.

So my FW and I have booked our date and of course we are going to Disney for our honeymoon We always stay in the value resorts are money is VERY tight for us! I really wanted to stay in a moderate or my dream would be a deluxe but who am I kidding lol... my question is do they ever offer discount codes for booking for July time? I know its summer time and the kids are home so I am worried! My FW said we can wait for our honeymoon, but I will be graduating next year with my second Masters and I don't know where our life will be then.. my job situation and us moving out of my mom's house ect... so I wanted to go right after our wedding which is July 3, 2012. We would be driving as we both hate flying and I take way to much luggage lol I was thinking of leaving July 5th and arriving July 6th. I want to incorporate Universal first and then head to Disney after. I have seen discounts for August to March and then Sometimes May. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

OP, sorry I wasn't a bit more detailed in my pp (morning+arthritis+iPhone = ) ...and since you didn't ask for my financial advice, I'll say it again - I book how and what I want (not what everything else thinks I need/want), and most importantly, what I can afford. Honestly, with careful planning, I can still have both. What we like to do is split-stays; 2 nts DLX, 7 nts mod, another 2 nts DLX and so forth. It requires switching resorts, but keeps the costs down. And I always book with a discount whether it be a pincode or GP offer. However, booking this far out, I believe you'll need to wait until early spring for July discounts. Like many do for FD; book your room now and wait for a discount to apply to your exsisting reservation. However if there's no discount, you can always modify the # of nights and still have the resort booked for your timeframe.

Finally, breathe and ENJOY the planning stages of your wedding/Disneymoon - it'll all work out beautifully.

Difference of opinion. I'd be more than happy (as would others) to take a weeks vacation anywhere in this economy. If they can't afford to take it, then don't. Save up for a couple more months then do it.

Sorry, my bad. I must have glanced over the part in the registration process where it says "Only post helpful things, not your opinion." I understand people complaining if they have something legit to complain about. But complaining about a lack of discounts for a trip 9 months away is ridiculous. Anyone that goes to Disney that is aware of discounts knows full well you don't see them this far in advance.

18 days? Seriously? Take a normal length honeymoon of 7 to 10 days!
