Snowmedic's Trip Report 2014

The pics are great. Sounds like a good trip so far.

And "some construction" at the Poly is an understatement. Big remodel with addition of a bunch of DVC units, including the cabanas over the water. Art work looks very cool, but out of my price range from what I've seen posted.

Sounds like a great family leisurely trip. Your tent set up is great! I am getting so excited about our first tent trip at the Fort. We have done the cabins and RV in prior FW trips. I bet hearing the rain pitter pat on the tent was just as good as a trip to the spa. Thanks for the shared pics of the resorts too. We are taking a travel the resorts day and just sight see all the other disney properties! Now AK is a must resort see.

Thanks for the pictures - I enjoyed reading your report. Sounds like you are enjoying your vacation.

Getting excited as I will be there Wednesday afternoon. Looking at the pictures is making me more excited.

Thank you. Going to some of the different resorts was nice, seeing the different culture in each. AK was great, you could walk around the inside of the hotel and see the animals throughout. They also have a night viewing with goggles to see the animals roaming. We are going to try that Thursday night.

My wife and I also home school, so it's a great experience for the kids.

Two more days, will you be able to last?

Monday activities was going to have us going to the MK. I don't buy tickets to Disney because of the cost to go, but we got comp. tickets the other day. After looking at the hours for 2 of the parks we want to go to we decided to go tomorrow. MK closed at 7 for the Christmas party today. So we went over to Universal for the last time this trip.
We all had a blast, and DW who doesn't like roller coasters went on 3 of them. :yay: It started to rain about 2 so we headed back to the Fort.

Didn't do the pool or beach thing this afternoon, instead I waited for it to get dark and went looping (Walking). Now, the Fort is pretty well full from what I can see. I don't think there is a empty site in 2000, and primitive has been full since Friday. So with all the campers here, there aren't many Christmas lights.
I think the most decorated loop is 700. (Betmust, hope you are bringing a lot of decorations with you).

So on to the pictures.

I have seen a lot of Mickey lamp post, but no names, not sure if they are members or just got the info off the net.

Till tomorrow night. Snowmedic

I'm not going to make this a long-winded rant, just some observations from the days activities. Started the morning out getting up at 5:30. Got showered then got everyone else up. Epcot had the EMH this morning. Was at the bus stop at 7, then it was off to Settlement to the Contemorary to Epcot. Got there at 8. Now, unless you are at the park waiting in line for rope drop, forget it. It took 40 minutes to get through bag check, then EMH check, then the front gate. We went on 2 rides then headed to AK. Went on 4 rides there then were off to MK.
We used 1 fast pass at MK, then we were out of the park at 2.

I now know why, other than price we don't do Disney parks. MK was INSANE! We got off the 1 ride and could barely move. With all the people and the noise I started to get a bad migraine, had to put on my DD 7 noise cancelling headphones until we got back to the Fort.

If you come to the Fort just to camp and not go to parks or us your MB to pay for anything, take your key card. MB will not work at the front gate, bathroom or laundry room.

So that is my experience for the day at Disney. Sorry no pics today.
Till tomorrow, Snowmedic

The last couple days have been busy with cramming as much theme park time as we can in. I have more pics to post, just going to wait till we get home. Should be heading back north in about 8 hrs.

Had a surprise for the family they didn't know about, we went over to Lakeland this evening to see Mannhiem Steamroller in concert. It was great, and everyone had a wonderful time.
Pics to come soon. Until we return home, good night, Snowmedic

After leaving the Fort yesterday (75) at 9 am, 24 hrs later we are home to Vt. ( 36 degrees), 1451 miles. Stopped once for dinner, about an hour then straight home. Little tired from the long drive post more later. Oh ya, there salting the roads.

Glad you made it home safe. You are a little warmer than here (StL). Snowing and 31.

Sounds you like to do the return trip like we do. Just do it in one shot and get home. Funny, I'll spend 3 days going down. (Leave after work on a Thursday. Drive to around Nashville. Drive to N. Florida on Friday and have a short drive in on Saturday morning to have most of the day at WDW.

Drive home is leave early Sunday morning and 1000 miles later, we pull into the driveway.

Glad you got home safe, yes it is a bit colder up this way than Disney. Here in Northeast PA it is a whopping 34 degrees.

Well, after spending two weeks at the Fort in site 2016, and meeting a couple of other DISers, Sirenia88, and Tiggerdad, we have made the trek home. It was a fun filled two weeks with lots going on. It was depressing to pack up and pull out of the Fort. After talking it over, the next time we come back we are going to pay the extra money for the full site. The tent 2000 loop was great, but all the kids running around unsupervised was enough for us. We had kids, and adults walking through our site at all times of the day. Imo, very rude.

It is good to be home even if it is cold and snowing.

On to the pics,

Found this rig in the 800 loop

After paying good money for a site, not sure if I would be willing to see this:

But, it is the Fort, I may be able to ignore it.

And now for my favorite cart the two weeks I was there.

Our last night at the Fort, as mentioned before, we went to Lakeland to see MannHeim SteamRoller in concert. It was a great performance and the DD's were able to get the autographs of the performers. We had balcony seating with great views. Sorry for the blurry pics.

Hope everyone enjoyed the TR. If you are heading down, safe travels.

Glad you and your family had a great trip. I didn't realize you lived so far from FW. How often do you visit the fort? Also, what do you mean pay for a full site? Upgrade or ???

Thanks for sharing all the pics!

I gotta back Medic up on this whole upgrade thing. I left from my site around 6:30 that morning to walk around and make my way from 1400 over to 2000 to meet Vince before he headed out. I walked around 1400, through 600, around 900, then down to the 4 way headed to loop 2000.

Quiet as a mouse...I mean everything was silence...

Halfway down to 2000 you started hearing it. When I stepped onto 2000 loop it looked like the scene from Poltergiest when all the kids toys were flying around. Kids everywhere in pajamas, on bikes, skateboards, and running and screaming. No adults to be seen...you couldn't hear yourself think...and it was 7:00 am!

Oh, and with the exception of Medic's and about 5 other sites, they had 2 cars per site, some even had 3.

I walked on around and took the bridge over to 900...and it was quiet again...

Thanks for taking the time, I really enjoyed the TR. That is one NICE golf cart.
