Hey Snowbird Friends!!!

Sorry I have been AWOL for a while - I miss you all but it just too hard to be on the DIS so much when I have no idea when we will be going to Disney again!! :sad2:

Kim - your Daycare room looks absolutely sensational!!! Can I come play??? Congratulations on a job well done - I pray that all your inspections go very well!! :goodvibes

Shawna - glad to hear that your nasty neighbour is no longer a problem. Hope the new people are a lot nicer! :)

Meghan - I sure hope that Miss Maddie is feeling better!! My girls have had those weird fevers too - never sure what it is!! :confused3

Well, we have been having the MOST awesome weather up here in Northern Ontairo! I can not remember a more beautiful sunny spring in all my life! We really have had the best weather! We actually had to turn on our AC this weekend because the girls bedrooms (which are upstairs) were so warm they couldn't sleep!!

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Shelly~ Are you any better?

Monny~ I know it's nerve wracking not knowing when it will be...just my luck I would be in the bathroom...or just getting in the shower!:lmao:

Kim~ I can not IMAGINE being in our upstairs without the air on.....we would have died in mid April!!! ha!!!!!

And yes....Happy June!!!! Mike helped me plant some stuff in my last flower bed this weekend....it was the one all my palm trees were in and they all froze to death. So...hopefully I can get some pics before long and show yall...I have a few colorful small plants to go in the front of it...so maybe by the end of the week!!
We are STILL waiting on rain!! It thunders and we see heat lightning...but not water!!!!!! should get some in the next few days....these new plants need some desperately...I hate to keep watering it when it is suppose to rain!!!!

Good morning Snowbirds! :cool1::banana:

Kim, good luck with your inspections! Your room looks great! :thumbsup2

We're in the middle of Birthday Week here. My baby boy turned 10 on Friday. And my big boy will turn 12 tomorrow! :sad2: Where does the time go? I miss the little boys they used to be, but it is wonderful to see them becoming young men right before my eyes. And I'm so blessed to have my DD to still enjoy the little one time with...and to help me appreciate the advantages of having older kids! :goodvibes DS10 had his party at the bowling alley on Saturday, and it went well. DS11 is having a slumber party this Friday, so I'll have five 11-12-year old boys in the house! :scared1: I told the kids that we have to finish the cake from the first birthday before the second birthday can happen. All that's left are two cupcakes from the party, and I think we can polish those off today. ;) It's pretty convenient having both birthdays so close together. Many years they have had a joint party, but now they are getting to where they have their own ideas and groups of friends. They actually had the same due date, two years apart! DH11 used to complain that since HE was older, he should have his birthday first.

I'm missing DH something fierce. But, 7.5 weeks down, 2.5 weeks to go! :woohoo: And we're so fortunate that he hasn't had to deploy for a long time. I know there are lots of military families who had had to endure frequent and long separations. So, keeping my chin up and trying to make some fun summer plans.

Whew, I'm long-winded today. Hope you all have a magical Disney day!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I have off today (Sunday) and tomorrow...without even requesting to have it off! So I'm at home now, resting up and continuing my vitamin intake. I'm feeling a ton better, but now I have a stuffed up nose...grrr.

Enjoy the holiday weekend everyone!

At least those go away, for me, faster than coughing does!!

I dunno about you, but I have 20 days left!!!

I'm sure your DH misses you and your children, too! But you're almost there!! I can't imagine how tough it must be, to be overseas and have him out of the country! I thought it was bad enough when the AF moved one of my friends and his family to Anchorage and then promptly sent him to Afghanistan. (Like, really? You couldn't have left them in VA to deploy him?)

:grouphug: for you!

happy b-day to your boys!! My girls are two weeks and two years apart (but the older is first in the month!). We've just started having separate parties. But I told them when they hit double digit years the parties stop! Then they can pick one or two friends to do something special with like dinner/movie or a trip to MOA to the amusement park or something.
I'm sad that you have to be apart from your DH so long! how hard for him to be gone for birthdays! But it's going by - you're on the home stretch now!!!

At least those go away, for me, faster than coughing does!!

WOOHOO!!! I'm at 56

SO TRUE!! Jeez!
:grouphug: for you!

Shawna - I wish you were getting rain. We've had a couple nice rains in the last few days - just when I was about to water the lawn!! Perfect.

Kim (NDG) - I'd be sleeping on the basement couch! Hope all is well up there!

Kim (Monny) Good luck with your inspections! The room looks awesome! I'm sure you'll pass with flying colors!

Pluto_fan- You are so close! This time will fly by then he will be home!!:wizard:

Sarah- I'm at 21 days!!! I started getting some stuff together this weekend. I realized that I have 16 tanktops....just tanktops...for this trip.

Today my sister and I are going to try and figure some things out for the Disneyland portion. We've been so focused on Hawaii, that we have nothing planned. Well actually we bought our park tickets. They are having good deals online right now, so we bought a 5-day-park-hopper for the exact same price as what a 3-day would have been! So our idea is, because it will be the middle of summer, Disneyland will be packed, so we can try to hit up the parks at night and do some of the rides/attractions :confused3. No idea if that will work or not, my sister has been there before, I have not. There are just a few rides that I want to get on come heck or high water, so we'll probably end up using FastPass anyway.

Oh also, the little girl my mom babysits for has paternal grandparents that live in San Diego, so her parents have decided to take a trip out to DL this summer, and they will be there when we are!! So we are going to figure out when we can share a day with them at DL!! I'm so excited for that, it would be her first trip to any Disney Park. She has seen all our pictures and movies, and talks constantly about Disney.

Alright, time to get ready and take the little munchkins to the park before the rain comes! Have a great day everyone!

My licensing specialist came this morning and approved everything!!!! Now I just have to wait for the fire marshal and I'm good to go! :cool1:

Kim! I love your room!!The paint is almost the same as my school room!!Maybe a shade darker!!! I looooove yellow! Makes me feel awake and happy--hard to be depressed in a room like that! And I love your little table with the chairs up on it....tooooo sweet! Oh...And I REALLY loved your Woody bag!!
Can't take ownership of the bag although I might get one next trip to the Disney store! It belongs to one of my daycare kids. They come in pjs everyday and change here after breakfast. That's the bag their mom packs all their clothes in for the week. I'm afraid my love of Disney has rubbed off on them.

Hugs right back atcha Kimmy!I know just how you feel. I'll join in your pity party anytime you want. I go through spurts where I don't want to log in or I just lurk. It hurts to much to DIS when you are aching to go back. It's even harder when all your kids talk about is how much fun they had and how much they want to go back. :sad2:

Monny~ I know it's nerve wracking not knowing when it will be...just my luck I would be in the bathroom...or just getting in the shower!:lmao:
Eeeek!!! If they popped in while I was showering something would be very wrong. They only come during my daycare hours so thankfully I'm done showering by then.

Hope you get some needed rain soon!

Hang in there! He's almost home! I'm sure it's harder since you're celebrating birthdays for your babies. I live in a highly populated military area and it's so hard to see some of the families go through long deployments. Andrew just had a party at his school last week. The father of a little girl in his class came home from the middle east and surprised her at school! He'd been gone a year! It was a tearjerker.

My licensing specialist came this morning and approved everything!!!! Now I just have to wait for the fire marshal and I'm good to go! :cool1:

Woohoo! One down, one to go!! :dance3::dance3:

Sarah- I'm at 21 days!!! I started getting some stuff together this weekend. I realized that I have 16 tanktops....just tanktops...for this trip.

I have NO idea how to pack for my trip. NONE! 14 days and, I think, 15 nights? (We leave on the 22nd, arrive on the 33rd, and fly out on the 7th? Wait, that's 15 days and 16 nights? Rats!) Our ship doesn't have self-serve laundry and, because of skin issues, I wear mostly cotton clothing. you know, the stuff that shrinks if not washed properly and wrinkles when you look at it funny?

Has anyone else done this before? What do you do? I'm thinking that handwashing my female undergarments in the sink would work (read a suggestion to pack 2 - wear one, wash one, nearly constantly). But, with luggage restrictions and costs, it's not like we CAN pack for 15 days! And 2 formal nights.

I just made our airport shuttle reservations! Woohoo!

Kim~ glad the waiting is 1/2 way over for you!!! Maybe he will come today and you can relax! If I had been at that party with the surprise from military Daddy...I would have been sobbing! I can't even watch those videos....I cry until I feel sick! But what a wonderful thing for her...she will never forget it!!
Sarah..no clue on the laundry thing..we have to wash our clothes in certain detergent too due to skin irritations...so I never let them do ours...but man...that's a looong time!! Yes..wash what you can in the sink!
We got a good rain in the night!!!:cheer2: Thank you Lord!! Our grass is pretty much burnt up in the back....hopefully we will get more today...the ground is just gonna soak up what we got so far....my plants were thankful I am sure!!!Well..hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!! It's almost the weekend again!!! YEAH!!!:yay:

Hey Snowbirds

I just realized that I hadn't checked in with you guys in awhile! Things have been crazy busy with work, activities at school, PTO, soccer, yard/house projects, etc. We have 6 more days of school and then things will slow down for us!

Hope all is well with all of you. :goodvibes

I'm almost at 5 months until WDW and BWI!!

Checking in from Orlando. It is hotter than hot here today. We made it to Downtown Disney for lunch and a bit of shopping. It's so sad to be this close to my happy place and not to go. Even Rylan said "but Mommy why CAN'T we go to the parks". It was nice to have a little bit of Disney, though.

I made sure not to leave without my Mickey Rice krispie treat :)

:mickeybar

It's KIND of like a rice krispie treat on a stick!!

Happy dance! I've got another trip planned...

...for next February. Oh well!

It took a lot of talking (and a lot of arguing - his dad was in town and his dad has some STRANGE ideas, which he occasionally listens to more than he should!) but Jeremy and I agreed that a 4 night cruise on the Disney Dream (the newest ship!!!) would be the best plan!

We have a family trip, for my parents' 40th anniversary, next July in the works for Disney World, so Jeremy's ONE stipulation was "no parks!" for the cruise. I guess you gotta compromise, but what is WRONG with that man?! ;)

The 4 night cruise, while significantly higher by night than Carnival and RCI, fit into our budget better. After my knee surgery and the fact that we couldn't go anywhere/do anything this past winter AND the upcoming 14 day trip to Europe, we agreed that we need a laid back trip!

So what are your favorite things to do that aren't in the parks? I think we're likely to fly down a couple of days early and stay on property before going on the cruise. If the weather's nice, a water park might be fun (Jeremy's never been).

:banana::banana::banana:

We've missed you Shelly!! all that other stuff is interfering with DIS time, eh?
We have 4 days left of school, one week of dance and that's about all for now. DD9 is now talking about taking dance this summer, we'll see...

Oh, that's difficult! We can hardly go to Florida at all without WDW! Luckily you will be back soon! Glad you got a yummy treat!

WOOHOO for a Disney cruise on the new ship!! DH wants to do that too. Not sure it's in the budget since we plan to go to Europe next summer...
The 4 day is fun, and even though it's more expensive, I say it's worth it!!!
Crazy of your DH - no parks? Don't understand. Mine would do the same thing. He wanted to this upcoming trip just sit and enjoy the BC. But I could NOT be just outside the back door to WS and not go in!!!
So, Not in the parks fun? Maybe tour some resorts you've never seen, have a meal at one of them, Ft Wilderness has the campfire sing-a-long and movie at night (you don't need to be staying there). Maybe go to a dinner show like Hoop de Doo. DTD of course. In February probably only one waterpark will be open, one is usually closed for refurbs. Rent a watercraft? Fireworks cruise?

We just had dress rehearsals for the girls' dance recitals today. Some of those kids really can dance!!! It's so impressive. Every year when Sarah sees it, it inspires her to do more. Now she wants to take summer class and try out for competition line! OY!! I told her she'd have to choose dance or gymnastics. She's choosing dance. We'll see how it goes. Paige is much more laid back. She loves dance, has no interest in comp line. And she's the one who started in dance first at 4 years old. It took Sarah a year of watching her to decide to start. Next weekend is recitals. Sarah is in Musical Theater and is in all three recitals. Paige is in one. Tomorrow they have a show for gymnastics. That kills tomorrow afternoon!
I'm tired already!
I hope you're all having a good weekend!

Europe IS expensive. Of course, right now, the Euro is pretty low to the USD so book now!! :rotfl2: We're, of course, doing a 12 night RCI cruise. Jeremy muttered the other night "but I didn't think it would cost so much."

Uhh. Dude, it's 12 nights. What did you think it would cost?

The 4 day is fun, and even though it's more expensive, I say it's worth it!!!

Crazy Minnesotans, perhaps? :rotfl::rotfl:

Great ideas, thanks!! I like the idea of the fireworks cruise! He also really liked Boma, so I thought that might be kind of a fun treat. As we're not terribly likely to stay at Animal Kingdom lodge, it still might be kind of fun to head over there and explore, too.

I just need to get the confirmation from my TA that she booked it and then... I have to sit on my hands until we're back from Europe. At least having 2 Disney trips for 2011 will keep me out of trouble for awhile! ;)

Hey everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. I got a new cell phone today, Samsung Mythic! So I will now have the ability to update my facebook while on vacation. I'm trying to learn how to use the phone still...it's strange to have a complete touch screen.

One more day to work then I have a day off....!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Good morning Snowbirds! :cool1::banana:
Thanks for the encouraging words. DH will be home before I know it...less than two weeks! :yay:

Sarah--wow, packing for your upcoming cruise will be a challenge. If you were going to be stopping in Belgium, I'd invite you to my house to use the washing machine! :laundy: I looked at your itinerary at it looks FANTASTIC..we'd love to do that trip. Unfortunately for five people it would cost a fortune. :sad2: How exciting that you've booked a cruise on the Dream!

Well, I survived a slumber party of 12-year-olds, followed by a soccer tournament of 10-year-olds. DS10 went straight from the tournament to another slumber party. Both boys were wiped out by Sunday afternoon! I also had to make DS12 a kilt. In school they're doing a musical-comedy version of MacBeth :confused3 and he asked for a kilt for his costume. I am definitely NOT a talented seamstress but I thought it came out pretty good. Lining up plaids and ironing all those pleats was quite a challenge for me.

Hope you all have a magical Disney day! pixiedust:

oohhh...that would be hard!! BUT...just think how hot it has been to have them in the parks all day...glad you got to go to DTD!! But poor little Rylan! I know that was hard to hear him ask!

Sarah...yay for you to get another cruise!!!!!:yay: And you are soo close to this one...yeah..packing would be killer for me....we would have to take all the clothes we have for summer and wash in the sink!!!!

Shelly~ How is the new phone working out? It usually takes a while for me to get used to a new one...but we better get some pics of Hawaii!!!! and Disneyland!!! hee hee!!

Sheree~ you are gonna be busy for the next few days!!!! G wanted to do two dance classes next year, but I don't know....she wants to do the finale and the Daddy-Daughter dance next time,so that's 3 dances for recital...i don't know if I want to try for 4!!!!

Pluto~ I bet you were exhausted!!! And I can't wait for you hubby to get home!!!! How long do your kids have left in school..I forgot how long it goes over there....kudos for making a kilt!!! YIKES!! I don't know if I could have done it!!!!

Well, we survived that weekend!
The girls dress rehearsal went well. Sarah's class had a few problems with stage direction! We have class again Thursday so they can work out all the kinks.
We watched some of the competition lines rehearse and Sarah was impressed. She said, "How do they DO that?" at one of the really intense tap numbers. I said they practice a LOT! Now she wants to try out for it! OY! I have to ask some questions, but basically she would have to take some classes during summer and try out later in August. She still wants to do the musical theater class too. Of course the questions I have to ask are HOW MUCH IS THIS GOING TO COST? and HOW MANY NIGHTS PER WEEK?
I'll keep you posted on that! I really hadn't wanted to muck up summer with too much stuff so I could focus on our big vacation!
Paige doesn't want to do it. She is happy just doing her normal dance classes.
Sarah was even willing to give up gymnastics if she could do two dance classes! I told her if she did more dance, gymnastics would have to go - too expensive!

Speaking of gymnastics, they had their spring show on Sunday afternoon and both girls did really well! It was fun to see how much they've improved! All the girls get a medal and t-shirt too. Paige wore it all afternoon and slept in it! (Just the shirt not the medal).

sheree...i can see her doing that!!! I don't really like mine to do too much during the summer...our weather is just too crappy!! It's enough just dragging to the store and church when we get out...I mean, it literally saps aaaall your energy. So...we are just pool bums for the hottest time here....YUCK!! Which I have to say the humidity finally came....it was a little humid here and there, but after Mem day..it just got worse ...this last few days have been really bad....
Finished my flower bed replanting...I will try to take a picture at some point...had to redo the back bed that was my palm trees...they froze last winter and it looked so bad!! But, I am done with that!!! Just going to get some little rose bushes for a small bed in front...but I am too tired today to think about it...and it's too hot.
Sent ds14 off to church camp this morning! Had to be at church at 5:30...YIKES!!! We were all worn out!! Had to come back and take a nap! I know he is going to have a great time...they keep 'em pretty busy, so I know when he gets home he is gonna crash!!!! So,anyway..today is gonna be a lazy day..sandwiches for lunch, then Daddy is going to take us out for dinner...kids are on the Wii....I am on the net......I have got to get motivated, but don't really see that happening!!!
I do need to print my ADR conf from my email in case something happens...haven't really been focusing too much on the Nov trip...still too far away!! I gotta make it thru the summer first!! It'll still be hot here when we go...not as hot as this, but warm...maybe we will get early fall/winter like we did last year!! It was really cool (for us) in Oct..people were complaining, but I LOOOOOVED it!! So did my kids...I do NOT know why we keep living down here!!! Oh well....I know this was long-hope it didnt sound too rambly!!! I am procrastinating....I dont want to do anything today....doesn't that sound terrible...oh well..I just blame it in the weather!!!:rolleyes1
