Well...he and the Youth Pastor went out for coffee this afternoon and it made him feel a lot better....he usually works up at the church office stocking the youth pantry and working the lights, doing youth invoices...so they are good friends! He came to our church not long after we joined...so he and ds14 were kinda new at the same time...they just hit it off well...and his wife is a doll!! She does the videos and movie stuff for our church and is going to start teaching him to edit videos and clips from our youth events! I think he was totally freaked out because they also joined another youth group from a different church in West Texas...and like his mother he is not big into crowds!:scared1: But...hopefully tomorrow will be better..then it's only 2 days and he will be home...I think he can handle it and it's been good for him.... I just hope ds11 doesnt do this at his camp in July!!!!!

Oh Kim (Canada)...I think you would love Nov...you can still enjoy some of the Christmas stuff and I don't think Ken would miss too much as far as church practices for your church production!!!Of course, May is closer....but either month is good...as long as you dodge any 3day weekends or stuff like that.....I think the 2 weeks before Tday are great. Between Shelly and me taking notice of crowds...I think we can let you know whether or not to start planning!!! maybe if a SUPER discount comes out you could swing Nov 2010!!:yay::yay:

Which week Mindy?? I would ideally like to go either the week right before or the week right after U.S. Thanksgiving! They seem like the 2 best weeks! :goodvibes

I think that we are pretty set about arriving the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Do I see a Snowbird meet up in our future??? I like the idea of catching all of the holiday decor at a value price and hopefully sneaking in before Pop Warner arrives.

Wow Meghan. Her school goes really late. Is that because of snow days or is that typical for your district?

That is how late we always get out of school. We start the Wednesday after Labor Day. We had about 10-15 half days this year which are so pointless! School starts at 9am and there were times they would get out at 11:15am! What is the point of that?! Other times, they would be dismissed at 12:50pm. That was a bit more reasonable. I think we had maybe one snow day this year.

I'm sorry that I talked you out of Hershey. It is a nice park with lots of great rides. I just don't do well with crowds or heat.

The make your own candy bar thing is actually making your own candy bar. I was there at Chocolate World with Ry two weeks ago but it wasn't up and running yet. It looks all official with the chocolate workers and their hair nets. Personally, I think the factory works thing is cheesy. Love the tour ride, though. Cheesy, yes but it's a classic LO

They have the Create your own Candybar up on their site:

Looks pretty cool! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much Shelly!!! That gives me something to play with until the actual UG Calendar gets caught up to that point! :cool1:

I know it isn't in the budget for us to go again in January but I am REALLY hoping that we can make it happen for November - I am just so desperate to see the Christmas stuff up at WDW!!!

You're welcome! :goodvibes

Glad to hear he is doing better. :)

I agree -- those 2 full weeks before Thanksgiving are the best!! Super weather and low crowds. I don't understand why they aren't Value season. But then, maybe the fact that they aren't Value season makes them less crowded! I know it sure was slower in Nov than when we went in January, which was Value season. And from everything I read before Thanksgiving is way less crowded than after (which is Value season). :upsidedow

Madison still has 10 more days of school (last day is June 22nd) and I can't wait for her to be done! Once school is over, that's when the real craziness begins! Weddings, dance classes...the list is never ending!

Wow that is late!! :scared1: And I thought we went late this year. We go until this Friday, which is a week later than normal. We start the Tuesday after Labor Day, and Labor Day was late this year.

First day of Rylan's summer vacation and its 60 degrees and raining . . . not too much fun :(

How is the weather in your area??

It is about 66 and raining. All day. The last few weeks have been very hot and humid. :faint: As in so hot/humid that I had to turn the ac on already. Now I'm hoping I don't have to turn the heat on tonight!! :upsidedow

Supposed to be nice and sunny tomorrow and Friday! :goodvibes

Our weather is pitiful! Upper 90s and humidity...some storms this weekend which cool it down for about 15 minutes then it's so steamy you can hardly breathe!!!!! i am ready for winter!! Ha!! I am NOT a summer girl!:sad2:

It's gorgeous here today! The past few days were rainy and cold. There was a baseball game scheduled for today at 12:05 and ended up being a double header! So friend and I packed up the kids my mom babysits for and spent the afternoon in the sun enjoying a game :cool2:!

The rain is supposed to come back though the next few days, which naturally I have tickets to Thursday and Friday night games. Also, Friday is the first night of Fireworks at the stadium....

Have a great night everyone, stay warm and dry!

Yep, about 80 and sunny here today. We'd been in the 60s prior to today. Saturday night we had the fairly unusual: three consecutive tornado warnings and enough rain to flood my department at work (yet... our Department of Public Safety failed to notice it, so it sat for over 24 hours. It's a MESS).

So I'm happy to see the sun (and I'll be happy when all the disaster recovery stuff is over and our floors are repaired).

We had a pretty nice day today. Sarah's class (the whole 3rd grade) walked a mile to a park for a picnic lunch today. It was windy but about 75 degrees.
We (the four of us) took a nice walk after dinner with the dog. The girls rode their bikes. It was about a mile and a half around our neighborhood. Then we all went to the grocery store. Usually I go by myself on my day off. There's a good reason for that! But this week I don't have a day off!

Tomorrow is the last day of school for us. I am going to a continuing education seminar and ducking out early so I can be home when they get off the bus. Then it's our last dance class before recital this weekend.

It's 60 and rainy here in Belgium. This spring has been quite nice for the most part, except for this week and the weekend my dad was visiting. :upsidedow

The boys' last day of school is next Thursday, June 17. They start up again August 18! Short summer, but they have lots of breaks during the school year. It's a different schedule than we're used to, but I like it.

Kim, congratulations on passing all your inspections! :cheer2: I'm sure you're thrilled that all your hard work has paid off and now you can enjoy the room.

Shawna, glad to hear your DS is feeling more comfortable at camp. I think my DS10 only agreed to go to Cub Scout camp this summer when DH volunteered to go along as a leader.

I've never been to Hershey Park. We went to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA, several times before moving here--October weekends were a nice time to go, but we never tried it during the hot, busy summer months!

I'd love to be planning a WDW trip this November...or any time! Please keep sharing your details, everyone, so the rest of us can live vicariously through you! :goodvibes

It's been pretty crummy around here lately. We've gotten a lot of rain (which is ok...I think it's getting rid of the horrible cottonwood) but it's been in the 60's. Today, it's supposed to hit 70 which is great. Over the weekend, we're supposed to get more rain but the temps will be in the 80's with lots of humidity. I've worn jeans the last 3 days which is very strange for June.

Well...the weather got even hotter yesterday..when we went to church yesterday afternoon...it was showing 100 in my car!!! it's in the upper 70s at night!!! YUCK!! Sarah..we had Tornados about an hour from here yesterday also...weird.!!!
Well...I haven't done anymore planning for my Nov trip...after I made my ADRs I decided to not keep going over it...I will check for park changes off and on...but it's still 5 months away so I don't want to keep looking thru my stuff or I will be completely nuts by the time it gets here!!!
DS14 is having a much better time at camp! He comes home tomorrow night..they should be in late Friday night...
I know some of you have neat places you are close to for short summer trips...so, besides Hershey Park...where else do all of you visit for the Summer? Or have plans to go?

Besides Hershey. . . We take several day trips into the city (Pittsburgh) over the summer. The school is sending me to a conference at Seven Springs this summer for 3 days. http://www.7springs.com/ Sometimes we drive up to Niagara Falls. . . We aren't too far from Cedar Point too. http://www.cedarpoint.com/

That's about it around here!

Any summer plans for you Shawna?

Well...after ds14 gets home tomorrow...we don't have anythings scheduled until July 14 when ds11 goes to camp. I kinda thought about scaring up some small summer trip....we usually don't..but the idea is getting better and better!

In Minnesota, the big thing for summer trips is to go "up north" to a lake place. There are lots of resorts on all the big lakes. Otherwise, people will go to Wisconsin Dells. If we weren't going to Disney, we'd either be going to Duluth or to South Dakota to the Black Hills/Mount Rushmore. Duluth is where I went for my girls' weekend in April.
BUT, we're going to DISNEY WORLD!!! YAY!

I'd love it if we all ended up in WDW some November! We could have so much fun.

The weather here got cool again and a bit rainy off and on. Supposed to be like that until Sunday. But I'll be in an auditorium for three dance recitals between Saturday evening and Sunday evening anyway. I'll take some pictures and try to post them next week.

Ugh on the tornadoes!! Dundee, where they touched down in Michigan, is about 20 miles down the road with me!

If you did that, you'd probably drive right by my in-laws! And then I'd recommend that you visit the very pretty Falls in Sioux Falls!

I'm less than 2 weeks out from my Europe trip! I'm pretty excited, though the current worry is the outbreak of noro virus on board. They're delaying the next boarding to do a bigger cleaning!

Our only little trip this summer is to Annapolis for my cousin's wedding. I'm actually pretty excited to drive down there (about 7-8 hours) because Madison has never taken a car trip through multiple states! Well, we went to Cedar Point when she was 9 months old, but she didn't know what was going on.

I'm sure we'll probably head to Darien Lake for a day (godarienlake.com). It used to be privately owned, then Six Flags bought it, now it's privately owned again. Madison got a free ticket because she participated in a reading program. It also includes a discount voucher for the parents. If we had passports/passport card/enhanced license, I'm sure we'd go to the Toronto Zoo or the Canadian side of Niagara Falls for a day. I really wanted to go to Cedar Point this summer, but Tony says no. :sad1: It really wouldn't be that expensive and we both love rollercoasters.
