Mindy--:cool1::cool1: YEA! for a surprise trip! :cool1::cool1:
In my experience, traveling with a newborn is actually easier than traveling with a toddler!

Meghan~My hubby has done NO planning whatsoever where this trip is concerned. He's just offering up the funding. I'm going to be doing all of the leg-work but that's fine with me. I can plan things according to what I want now.

I'd love a surprise like that! Just give me some dates and let me plan away!:rotfl:

Hope everyone who's going soon has a great trip! I'm feeling a bit sad since I wanted to go for my birthday, so I would have been going one week from today. But I cancelled it, although for a good reason - my trip to Europe with my d. I just have to keep focused on that, and find a ticker I can put on here for Italy!

I have some fabulous Disney news to share. DH surprised me this morning with my Christmas gift . . . a surprise trip to Disney in January! Now, it won't be the fabulous, on-property, lengthy stay like I would like, but I'm not going to complain. We'll more than likely stay at the Hilton DTD. We've stayed before and it was nice (not like staying at the Poly, though). DH has a flight down for work so we'll fly down on the same day and then stay a few extra days after he returns.

The best part, for me at least, is that we aren't going to tell Rylan about it until we get on the airplane. He has been so disappointed because all of his friends have gone or will be going in the next couple months . . . 3 different friends. Now I hope that he grows that last 1/4 of an inch so that he can ride Space Mountain for the first time!

What a wonderful DH you have. I would love a surprise trip to WDW.

My DH really has me rethinking our dates, yet again. He refuses to see the CP or go to MVMCP. So I'm back to thinking about going for either Joey's 13th or my 35th birthday. I'll have to talk to my inlaws and see which works better for them. I'm thinking my mil will be retired by September next year. They are not totally sure they are going. It will depend on how my fil business goes, which is going to make it hard to plan. Also, if they have the princesses come around to each table I have to take CRT off the ADR plan. I'm thinking about changing it out for Jiko.

YAY MINDY!! The trip sounds FUN! I agree with whoever said a baby will probably be easier than a toddler. Keaton was 9 mos old the first time he went, and was pretty easy! (except the fiasco in the airport over trying to carry on all the baby food, but that's a whole other story). I wasn't BFing anymore and he was starting solids, so when he was hungry, I'd find a shady spot, stick him in the stroller and feed him while the others went to ride something. He'd go from front carrier to stroller, from me to dad...he was perfectly content. Now when he was almost 2 and went... I got one of those monkey backpack leashy things, because he's a runner. I tried to put it on him while we were walking into Animal Kingdom. Well, he was having NO part of that, so he threw himself on the ground and wouldn't move. So we'd have to make sure to actually strap him in the stroller each time, because otherwise, if he saw something interesting, he'd leap out of the stroller without warning!:scared1:

Hi Snowbirdies! I haven't had much time to DIS lately and I'm really starting to panic over not having this January trip planned as much I would like. I feel like my TO DO list is a mile long and I'm getting nothing done. The holidays are so busy for me!
We got our tree up at least!:santa:

Mindy- Congrats on your surprise trip. You deserve it after your pregnancy! What a great DH you have!

Mindy- Congrats on your surprise trip. You deserve it after your pregnancy! What a great DH you have!

Such a pretty tree!! We still haven't put ours up yet. Actually, we still need to buy one.

I swear my DH is driving me nuts. He asked me when they typically do free dining, and I told him August/ Sept. Now he has decided that's when he wants to go. I wish I knew if they were going to offer a deal in November/December next year. I swear just picking the date for this next trip almost has me frustrated enough to just give up and pick somewhere else to go.

:scared1: Oh the horror! You can't pick anywhere else to go! I'm sure they'll offer something for Nov/Dec next year.

I hope so, b/c I don't want to deal with that Florida heat and humidity of Aug/Sept. He's trying to make it sound more appealing by saying we could be there for my nephew's birthday and that might get his parents to agree to go with us. However my bil is not a people person, and I don't see a trip with him being a ton of fun. He'll be a pain if it's something he isn't really interested in. He won't even take his son to see cartoon movies, b/c he's not interested in it. Now if it was just his wife and son, it would be fun, but with him...not so sure about it. The last time I went on a big family trip with him, we went camping and I actually threatened to call the police on him. O, the family memories. :lmao:

Mindy- Hooray for a surprise trip to Disney!!! I sure wish my DH would surprise me like that someday....but he has NO clue how to plan a trip!!! :rotfl: Anyways...I'm so excited for you!

I am seriously considering making a Surprise Disney Planning Guide for my DH so he could actually surprise me sometime. He's aware of some of the major stepping stones, but the time frames might allude him a bit. It will be a while before he would even get the chance to plan that trip though.

Our trip was supposed to start on Friday, so I am a bit sad, but I'll get through it. We're thinking about spend a couple nights in Kansas City on the Plaza for our anniversary in January in lieu of the Disney trip.

Weather forecast for Appleton, WI: 8-14" with 20-30 mph winds.

Lord help me.

Ew!

We have our first Winter Weather Advisory! A Winter Weather Advisory for snow remains in effect from 7 PM this
evening to 4 am EST Wednesday.

Snow will begin to spread into Southeast Michigan this evening.
The snow will then mix with and changeover to rain overnight.
Snow accumulations will range from 1 to 2 inches.

Wusses. ;) Especially as it's turning to rain after that.

Except... count me in as a wuss. All my bad weather shoes are, well, boots. I can't wear it on my right leg right now because of my brace. I'm going to have a wet right foot tomorrow, I guess!

Well hopefully you two have weathermen like we have here, and the weather ends up being not near as bad as they predict. My youngest DS says they "get paid to lie to children and get their hopes up that we will have snow".:lmao: We are supposed to be in the 40's and warming up to the low 60's by Sunday with most nights lows in the 40's. Tonight and tomorrow night should be the worst with a low in the 30's tonight and in the 20's tomorrow night.

Right now my biggest problem is my Explorer. We got a new fuel filter and thought that fixed the problem, but it didn't. We'll have to take it to someone next week to get it fixed. Normally, we would just ask my fil to look at it, but he was in a car accident yesterday and we don't want to bother him. Luckily he is fine, and he is able to drive his truck (which is really good b/c he uses it for work). We just don't want to bother him.

Yikes!
I enjoy a bit of snow, but not with that kind of wind. Whew!

Weather here in Belgium is nasty--low 40s and rain every single day. Seriously, I don't know when the last day was that we did not have any rain at all. In mid-November I realized that I couldn't remember when the last rain-free day was, so it's been at least a month! :umbrella: (I need one of these that's NOT smiling!)

Hey, I just noticed (yep, I'm a little slow) that crzyred and Sarah will be on cruises at the exact same time! Whee! :boat:

We got 2.5" of snow followed by rain, so it wasn't too bad getting around today. Of course, we were at a friend's house last night when the snow started. Friend is, of course, a very nice human being. Since he hadn't put his car in the garage yet, he backed out of the driveway, let the DH pull into the garage, and I was able to get in without dealing with a snow-covered driveway on a slant.

Whew!!

Okay, minor DH vent!

In July, we had new windows put in. They're generally fabulous. REALLY fabulous. Except the master bedroom window - I've never been able to close the latches on it. DH scoffed at me, did some crazy antics to make it close properly, and said things were FINE.

Last night, the aforementioned snow? Came with wind. The bedroom was REALLY drafty (I sleep closest to the window), so I asked him to do his crazy antics to get the windows shut all the way. He's forgotten, of course, and was fighting fighting fighting... and then I noticed I could see outside. Over the window frame. Below the sill. As in, nothing between us and the snowy windy weather. AUGH.

(a repairman is coming Tuesday)

This morning, we argued about covering (!!!!!!!) the open area. He didn't want to and told me I should just sleep somewhere else. I was already grumpy - I was cold all night, my crutches, between me and the draft, were even colder (they're METAL!), and then the house thermostat went crazy.

But, he did cover the open area. We do have a repairman coming. And, despite the fact that I was home all day during last month's billing cycle, our gas bill dropped 31%. The windows ARE working (they'll just work better when installed properly!).

The wind is howling here! I work on the top floor of a "high" rise (it's only 12 floors). I can almost feel that wind out there!! YUCK!

Sarbah - I'm thinking your DH better think twice about covering that window....you do have crutches and they reach farther than just your arm! :lmao:

We finally just had some sunshine poke out. It was cold and rainy this morning. I was really hoping it would be cold enough for snow. No wind though- I live amongst VERY tall trees!

The wind is crazy here today! I can't believe all the snow everybody else is getting and it is missing us. For once! :rotfl: We are getting lots and lots of rain though.
