Mindy your babies are adorable! :goodvibes

I'm in northern MD and I'm not so sure BWI is doing all that well. Hope he gets to fly out soon. We're expecting another 10"-18" with some areas exceeding 20" starting this afternoon and going through tomorrow. This winter has been craziness. Makes for some fun snow forts though!

Hey Kim~I recommended that he rent a car and start driving down then fly back home on Monday. They are only going to be there 4 days.

Mindy - your DS's are so cute. I just love the "snuggle me" PJ's. That's what my youngest DS calls those kind of PJ's.

I hope all of you that are dealing with this winter weather are able to stay warm and safe. I probably wouldn't like snow as much as I do, if I had to deal with what ya'll do. The weathermen are using the s-word around here again. We have an 80% chance of getting 1-3 inches on Thursday. John and I heard it on the weather on the radio this morning. As soon as he heard it, he started planning what he is going to do on his snowday.

Well, from the sounds of it and looks of it, I suspect our public schools will have either an early release today and/or a snow day tomorrow. The University, however, will not close. The theory is that so many students and faculty live close to campus that most of them walk anyway.

The reality is that, when the public schools are closed, the faculty stay home with their children, college students don't leave their rooms anyway, and staff has to trudge in to hang up signs for faculty who have cancelled class.... or take a vacation day to stay home.

Vacation day, coming up!!

But, oh, more good news... I'm officially free of my leg brace 17 weeks after surgery! And even better news, today my PT had me do some "hopping" (lying on my back, on a slide-y board, but pushing myself up and then landing, using my right leg) and it was completly painless for the first time in my life. :cool1::cool1:

I have to disagree, though. That is not "good" news. That is amazing news!!!:dance3::cheer2::dance3::banana:

Mindy - adorable picture of your babies!

Sarah - YAY for your knee improving!
Wookie - I sure hope you don't get the "s" word again! For cryin out loud! You live in TX - you're not supposed to have that kind of weather!
Global Warming my a**!
I hope all of you survive in this crappy weather! We're getting more snow too - I think about 6" since Sunday night. We don't get school canceled much. Of course, we have a lot of plows etc. to deal with it. Some schools were delayed 2 hours today. Not my kids. Mostly out western area more rural parts of the state where they got more snow.
I think I've had enough of this winter already. These are the days I wonder why I live in MN! It doesn't help that I went to WDW in the beginning of Dec. this year. Usually we try to go somewhere during the middle of winter to help break it up. That's why it seems so long this time!
But I do get to go away this weekend for a scrapbooking retreat with some girlfriends! Nobody to bug me, no place to go! I can't wait!

Mindy - sweet picture of your little ones!

Sarah - Awesome that your knee improving that much!
Wookie - I feel your pain.... but I live in upstate NY.... we are supposed to get that snow... not you....

Well I did it!!! finally got the suitcase out from the basement so I can begin to pack....
:rotfl:

Oh, I'm probably hoping as much as the boys are that we get that snow on Wednesday night/Thursday. I'm going to even go to the store and get some more hot chocolate just in case the boys are home.
I need to buy some more yarn to make scarves for the boys for our trip. Also, I need something to carry all my yarn in. Right now I am using an Elvis purse that my mom made, but I only have the yarn that I am using for my scarf. At Wal Mart they have these small picnic basic looking things that I am thinking about getting.

Today and tomorrow I'll have the house all to myself!! My DH went to work today with my fil's best friend (he owns his own appliance repair business as well). He needed to install a double oven and he needed an extra pair of hands. Tomorrow, he is going to work with his dad. I plan on getting a lot of knitting done.

Yup...I think they have a similar theory here. It's rather ridiculous. We haven't gotten any snow in over a week though. It bypassed us and dumped on my parents.

Yay for good news!

Well, I was able to make it out of Michael's without spending every penny tht I had. I went in to get some yarn for John's scarf. They really need to change the name to "Michael's Scrapbooking and a few other crafty things." I swear half the store is scrapbooking. I was so tempted to buy a ton and I don't even scrapbook. I was really good though. I just came out with 2 things of purple thread for John. I found some really pretty green called "fern" and I had to get it for me another one.

That's awesome! That store gets me every time - I am a scrapbooker, so I could go in there for one piece of paper and end up spending $25!

I would love to do it, but I just don't have the money to put into that I would like to. It's one of the things that I told my DH that I am going to put money into once I get a computer programming job. I would some day love to have a room just for crafts and sewing. It would happen a lot sooner if my DH would just hurry up and win the lottery. :lmao:
When I worked for my fil, I rode along with him one day on his calls. I went into this one house and I had total sewing room envy. It was just to the right as you entered the house near the kitchen. It look like it was supposed to have been the formal dining. Every wall in the room (that didn't have windows) had floor to ceiling book shelves. Every shelf was filled with bolts of quilting quality fabric. The fabric was wrapped around a bolt that was about half the size they sell them in the stores. In the middle of the room was a table for cutting. The walls that had windows she had several different type of sewing machines.
I would just love a room where I can someday scrapbook, knit, quilt. I don't know how to quilt yet, but it's on my "to learn" list along tatting. The only problem with a room like that is that I might never get my mother to leave it.

Yay for good news!

Thanks all! :yay::yay: The surgery and first six weeks were SUCH a bear and I'm glad that all that time has paid off. I just feel like I'll be able to do ANYTHING, once I'm strong enough!

Sheree, my in laws are in that part of the state. I saw yesterday that their temperature was -5F. Yeah, I'm happier here, thanks!! But they usually get the snow we do, about 2 days before us.

Our snowfall hasn't quite hit yet. It keeps getting pushed later and later into the night. Maybe it'll just get entirely pushed away!!

I've noticed that about Michaels, too. Since it's in a difficult to get in and out of strip mall, I rarely go, anyway. I do live in walking distance of a mega-Joann Etc, which is fabulous. They tend to have a lot of great stuff! Sadly, I have run out of room to store more yarn and while the obvious response would be "buy more storage" I think I should maybe knit more first!

My problem is that I have too many projects that I want to get done. I swear I could probably knit all day everyday with all the projects I want to do. I have to finish the current scarf I am on, which is almost done. Then I need to knit the matching hat. Up next will be the scarf (and maybe hat) for John. Then if Joey wants one I'll make him a scarf and possibly a hat. After that I'll knit the fern yarn into a scarf and maybe a hat. Also, I would like a pink set as well. Then I would like to knit a stripped set. Before next winter I plan on getting myself a Navy pea coat, so I want several sets that will look good with it. I might learn to knit socks, but I think I'll leave the gloves to be store bought. After that I would then love to start knitting baby hats for NICU where I had John. It's kind of like a sister or satelite hospital of the hospital where Joey was in the NICU.

I'm a total one-at-a-timer with my projects. This makes me the weird minority. ;)

I knit this amazingly detailed lace shawl. I'm really proud of my work... but get this, it's alpaca. It makes me itch. I can't wear it! So I started another shawl. Then my husband wanted a hat so I put the shawl down to work on the hat. Next, I'm going a group for some Olympic stitching on another project... AUUUGH! Too many projects!! I spent the Superbowl knitting furiously on the hat so it was off the needles and all I had left was the shawl and a cross-stitch project.

Tonight, I looked at the cross-stitch and realized that I'd done nearly half in the wrong colors. I'm debating picking it all out and then hiding it or just hiding it. I'm so bummed!

I would love to get back to cross stitching. I haven't done it in years. The last thing I did was a Thomas Kinkade thing for each of our mom's. Each mom got a picture of a different cottage.

ok ladies, I have a major problem. Like major, major problem. So my DH went to help my fil's best friend with a job this morning and just stayed with him the rest of the day. The guy ended up paying DH for his help. When my DH walked into the house tonight, the first thing he did was....(and this is the problem part)...handed me all the money he was paid.:scared1:He also paid him more than he told me he would. I think he is a pod person and refuse to sleep while he is in the house. My real DH would have never done that. He especially wouldn't admit to having more money than I thought.

The good thing that came out of today was that my DH really thinks he can do this appliance repair stuff. This means he will be out of the house more, and I can get housework done without him yelling at me to stop and come play WoW with him.

:cheer2::cheer2: Sarah, glad to hear your knee is getting better and better! :cheer2::cheer2:

Mindy, your boys are SOOOO cute! :lovestruc

What's with all the snow? :confused3 We even got a couple of inches this morning. I thought Belgium wasn't supposed to get much snow? Of course, my boys are SO jealous about all the snow they're getting in DC--we moved from that area this past summer, and they want to know why we didn't get all that snow when we lived there! I pointed out to them that those poor kids will be in school until July to make up for all the missed days. :sad2:

So Wookie...the problem is that your DH has been replaced by an imposter who brings you lots of money? :confused3:laughing: Seriously, I hope he finds that he really enjoys the appliance business and that it really takes off for him. :thumbsup2

I admire all you crafty folks! I enjoy cross stitching but haven't done any in several years. I have a couple of half-done projects I should get back to. :guilty: I'm too intimidated to try scrapbooking!

someone please give me some motivation to go pack... the suitcase made it upstairs but that as far as I have gotten.......:confused3 the weather is only looking to be in the 60's... so is that shorts or pants weather? its only in the teens here so my perspective is all messed up...:lmao:
