I haven't been on in a while, but I do have exciting news:

I GOT A PROMOTION!!
:banana::banana::yay:

And who else would I celebrate than with my Snowbirdies??

:cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::dance3::cheer2::grouphug:

Congrats!!! Great way to end the year, too!!!!

+++

I had a tough day, physically. I think, at this point, walking with a limp will be easier than being on crutches when the sidewalks are less than clear. We had our (off site) staff holiday lunch and my boss drove myself and a couple other women who hitched a ride. And then she dropped us off on a snowy curb (ah, well). So my crutches got wet and the restaurant (obviously) has a nice smooth floor. I slipped three times (crutch slips, I plant my right leg for support) before I even sat down... and then had to sit-sit (no way to keep my leg up) for about 2 hours. it was SO painful. And I hurt now. I'm thinking that walking has GOT to be easier, since my foot has more surface area than those danged crutches!!

But now I'm additionally nervous about my trip on Thursday!
1. I can't go through security unassisted, so I need to track down a wheelchair/something and then I'll have to get patted down.
2. I need to ask for pre-boarding, so I can get settled/get my crutches stowed before the crowds join the flight
3. Oh, and DTW is one of the Delta/NWA's hubs, so it's big and I might need to crutch through the whole place (might. I didn't request assistance, so if there isn't any, oh well. It's not the end of the world)
4. There's SNOW in Boston!!

But I'll get through it. And I have 13 days until I see my surgeon and the appointment he told me I'd be off crutches after!!

I haven't been on in a while, but I do have exciting news:

I GOT A PROMOTION!!
:banana::banana::yay:

I had applied for a job in my current department that I was eminently qualified for (in fact, more qualified than the woman who currently has the same job; this was an additional position). But, because of a lot of political reasons - I play politics VERY badly - I figured I wouldn't get it.

BUT I DID!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Can you tell I'm excited? Now I don't have to feel guilty about my trip to Europe in the spring. Even though it's not my holiday, it's a great Christmas present (or belated Chanukah present?)

And who else would I celebrate than with my Snowbirdies??

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope everyone is in full swing for the holidays! Today was Drew's last day of school so I was able to take off a little early to go to his Christmas party. (He's at Catholic school, so they actually celebrate "CHRISTmas.") He's off until Jan 4th now! We baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies Saturday, and I GUESS the Christmas elf got hungry because they're all gone. :confused3 So after me and the boys finish eating frozen pizza (only fine dining at my house :banana:), then we're going to make another batch of cookies, dip the truffles and make some of those peanut butter-on-Ritz cracker-dipped-in-white-chocolate cookies/crackers/things. YUM! That elf better save some for me!:rotfl2:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Those little stinkers!!:laughing:

:banana::banana: Congratulations, snykymom! :banana::banana:

Jenny, your post had me drooling. Can I come over for snacks? :laughing:

Sarah--ugh, I'm sure this is the worst time of year to be on crutches. Good luck with your traveling...give yourself plenty of time, and demand all the help you need! :flower3:

Congratulations Snkymom! What a nice way to end the year!
Sarah - I hope you don't have too much trouble getting around! Good luck with your travels!

Wishing you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! :santa: (If that's what you celebrate!)

:banana::banana::yay:

That's awesome!!!! :banana: Congrats!

Madison's last day of school is today and I've been a busy little bee. I have parties in my dance classes tonight that I teach and I made them funfetti Christmas cupcakes (yum!). I've also been doing laundry and I have to finish my buckeyes (basically peanut butter balls dipped into melted chocolate...they look like a buckeye nut once they're finished). It's been a busy day, but I love it!

Hi all my Snowbirdie friends!

I've been busy getting ready for Christmas, playing in the huge amount of snow we got over the weekend, dealing with someone stealing my cc # and charging on it :headache: (Tis' the season!) and of course there's work and all of life's regular chores to keep up with. :laundy:

Snykymom- CONGRATS to you on your promotion! :woohoo:

Jenny- I'm so happy to hear that your test results were good. What a scare!

Sheree- Sorry you got caught wrapping!

Anyone else I missed, I hope you're all doing well! Merry Christmas to those that celebrate and I hope everyone that celebrated Hanukkah had a great one!

Snykymom - Grats on the promo!!!:banana::dance3::banana:

We're having crazy weather here. I would love to say it was snow, but it's not. We're actually under a Tornado Watch.

We tried to start chocolate dipping stuff last night, but the chocolate wasn't getting thin like I thought it would when melted. So my DH decided to add milk to it. I was melting it in a double boiler thing, and as soon as I started stirring in the tiny bit of milk DH added it got way thick. I just gave up for the night. DH added it to molds that came with the chocolate double boiler thing, and it tasted kinda like fudge.

The night before last we made our annual gingerbread house. Usually it's just me and the boys making it, but DH helped this year. It lasted long enough for me to take a picture and then it fell apart. It was kinda funny. The boys were just like "oh well, I guess we'll have to eat it now."

I checked on John's gift and it was scanned into a UPS facility in Mesquite, which is not far from here. It should be here by tomorrow!!! I can't wait for him to open it Christmas morning!!!

Hey Snowbirds!!
Well, we are hunkering down for our big Christmas snowstorm!! Unfortunately, DH has to work tomorrow. You know, through rain, sleet snow and dark of night, the mail must go through. Yup, he's a mailman if you didn't know! Actually he's off getting "one more" present for DD8. DD6 got a DS before we went on our trip as an early Christmas gift, so he thinks DD8 should have one more. Oy. They have so many presents!! I'm going to have to add on to the house! I'm going to have one huge garage sale this spring. Too bad I can't do it in January. Not much business around here in winter though! LOL

I know most of you will be super busy the next few days, but I wanted to make sure to extend my Christmas wishes to you all. It's been such a blessing and a pleasure to have stayed in touch all year! :santa::grouphug:
:littleangel:
And I promise (!!!) my TR will be coming soon. I will post the link as soon as I start. Maybe over the weekend while the kids are playing with a thousand new toys! LOL!

Bad news: I have two computers. One is the laptop we use most of the time. The other is an older Dell desktop which is very slow. Tonight, the Dell started turning itself off all on its own while I was using it. I think it may have lived all of its useful life. My only big issue is that it contains hundreds if not thousands of digital pictures on the hard drive. Most are not backed up! My brother is a bit of a techie and says it can probably be recovered. Let's hope so!! The rest I don't care about, just the pictures. I had just planned on moving them to a portable hard drive &/or CDs too! UGH! Guess DH's bonus money goes to a new computer. He wants a mac anyway.

Hi Snowbirds!

Just checking in with you all and wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

I haven't been on the boards much recently, but have just started planning our next Disney trip! Time to start reading and planning again.:banana::banana::banana:

Merry Christmas my birdie friends. I hope you enjoy the time spent with your families making memories that last through the years.:goodvibes

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. It's not sticking, but it's SNOWING here!!:banana::dance3::banana:

It's been snowing here since yesterday at dinner time! And it is sticking!! We are definitely having a white Christmas!

Hope yours is merry whether it's white or not!
MERRY CHRISTMAS SNOWBIRD FRIENDS!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

We have been up since 7am (I'm like a 5 yo and I just have to wake up early!) and now we're enjoying all of our gifts. We're heading over to my parents house later for more gift giving and a lovely dinner (prime rib!!!). I hope that those who celebrate enjoy this wonderful day!

Merry Christmas!! We are still getting MORE snow! DD8 tried to get up at 4 AM!!! We made them wait until 7, and they went nuts. All done with presents round 1 by 8! My parents and brother will be coming for brunch and round 2! DH is out plowing the driveway now! Meghan, prime rib sounds wonderful! Hope you all have a glorious day!!!!:santa:

Merry Christmas Snowbirds!!
The tornado has hit the living room! But actually the kids are being great this morning! Drew woke us up about 730 and we worked for about 15 minutes to get Keaton up, then when I carried his sleepy butt into the living room, he just lit up! Three is a great age for the magic of Christmas! :cloud9: Every present they seemed so thankful for! They've just been super sweet this morning. So now they're playing with Lego men and watching Speed Racer while I'm having coffee and cinnamon rolls! Andy's in our room setting up the flat screen Santa brought us! (It's only 19", Santa's a bargain shopper)!:rotfl:

We had Christmas Eve with my dad's side last night, then today we'll go over to Andy's mom for the day, then tomorrow is my mom's! At least we can hang out in our sweats and relax!! Neither family gets too terribly formal, just lots of food, laughter and presents! :grouphug:

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and weekend! Don't forget, the Disney Christmas parade is on right now. (Too bad I'm too lazy to go in the other room, guess I'm watching Speed Racer instead)! :confused3

Well it's a white/wet christmas here. We were suppoesd to go to my cousin's house today, however with the snow we got and then the ice we are getting now, we aren't going anywhere. So I get to be lazy. Watching the Disney Parade now, later I'll probably watch the 2 disney movies I got, Mulan and Sleeping Beauty. I'll probably do some scrapbooking too since I got nothing to do all day...it sounds so nice to say that.

Merry Christmas Everyone.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate!

With the storm that hit the midwest, I'm really glad that this was an MA Christmas year and not an MN one. Of course, we drove back from my aunt's with a bit of snow and ahead of the freezing rain. Oh, scratch that, no more freezing rain but freezing drizzle.

I survived the traveling just fine. TSA was well prepared for people like me and my biggest hang-up was waiting for someone with a wheelchair. Hopefully the return, I can just get a wheelchair and have my husband push me around. However, between that and the church service, my knee was very sore and swollen when I went to bed. Today, between the car ride and the family visiting time... my knee is once again extremely sore and very swollen.

But it was nice to spend time with my family. My cousing has a 6 year old daughter and she's grown up into a real sweetie, so it was fun to talk with her a bit!!

Today, I have the house all to myself. My DH took the boys over to his brother's house for a "man day".

The 23rd we spent the night chocolate dippint pretzels, pretzels rods, and Oreos for our gifts.

Christmas Eve was spent with the in laws. It was the entire family, but our oldest nephew and his family. His son has RSV and if the poor baby isn't better by this week they are putting him in the hospital. All the homes where my in laws live are on a 1 acre lot. At one point during the day the snow was so hard you couldn't see the home behind their's. We had to spend the night at my inlaws b/c we didn't think we could get our car out of the snow. Plus it wouldn't stay started. We had cheeseburgers, steaks, chicken, and potatoe salad.

We woke up late Christmas day and after my fil fixed the car left for our house. We stopped by my sister's house to pick up a "blanket" that I just had to have. Then when we got home I went in first to "make sure the dog didn't get into anything". John was so excited with his gift he just kept saying, "I love Santa, I love Santa" and kissing the box. After we were done opening presents, we went back to my sister's house for Christmas with my family. My mom made Mexican food, which is what my family usually has at Christmas.

Our Christmas was wonderful!! It was full of time spent with family. My favorite gift was the Libby Vera Bradley bag my sister and bil gave me.
