Wow! It's really kind of amazing how impatient people can get.

It is! And I have a bad habit of being like that. However, like a small child, as long as I have a distraction, I'm good. Since I can check email on my cell phone, I often do that, or play a game of Sudoku so that I'm no longer anxious/in a hurry/giving the stink eye.

I just got a document back from our approvers, with big messages and my "mistakes" circled. To be fair, I had one big mistake. To be truthful, the person who left messages and circled "mistakes" doesn't have a clue how things are done. Super! This means that I have to reprint ALL the documents, with notes, and resubmit them to her. (It's complicated - over $10k, it has to go to one more level of approval before it gets turned over to Accounts Payable... so I contacted AP, who confirmed that I had all my ducks in a row and had done everything correctly) So frustrating, especially having to reprint pages simply because of notes like "YOU SHOULD NOT DO IT THIS WAY" even though the email, alerting me to my "mistakes" said I was fine.

Also, why can't people just couch their emails in nicer manners. Would it have killed her to say "hey, this says this and you did this, can you clarify?" instead of circling and highlighting. I ran into this in another case, too. "You told a faculty that we owe her money. Thanks. Can you tell me where to transfer the money." Grump grump grump.

:earsboy:

Hee. (We have too many chefs, not enough cooks running the show these days!)

It sure does seem like common courtesies have flown out the window. I'm not sure if it's because with email etc, we talk to people less or what! That drives me crazy. Especially because in emails or notes, you can't tell someone's tone very well. Whatever happened to speaking (or writing) politely to others?
I'm always harping on my kids to talk nice, maybe I should be harping on grownups too!
Love your comment about the chefs! So true!

I think so too---I hate getting emails that you can't really tell the tone...I usually forward it to my dh and ask him what he thinks they mean....most of the time we get the same vibe!!! People are getting more & more rude and crass all the time!! I wish it wasn't that way...even here in the south, real manners are getting fewer and farther between!!!

Glad you're feeling better :goodvibes Good luck scrapbooking! Don't worry I'm still working on my DD's Age 1 album- she will be 3 in February and DS's Age 4 album- he will be 6 in April :scared1:. Someday I'll catch up! :rolleyes1

I'd pick Disney over Hershey any day of the week! :woohoo:

So very true, I would pick a day at WDW over a day at nearly anywhere else. Funny after the stuff happened Staurday and my DH was all freaking about how we almost died, I was kinda in shock. I just kept saying "don't worry hun, we wouldn't have died. God knows I haven't done everything I want to do at all the Disney parks yet, and he doesn't want to be near me if I don't b/c I'll be too angry."

My mother in law has been having problems at work and it's all due to emails. First let me say that's she's been out of work lately b/c of major health issues. When she got back the trouble started. First it was "your using font that is too big." Ok, it's the same size font she used before. Then she was bolding everything so she could read it better and she got "bolding means your yelling at me and your using the wrong font." Umm ok never heard bolding was yelling, I thought that was all uppercase lettering, and when did New Times Roman b/c a bad font. It's so bad that she's thinking of either changing job or going for early retirement. My mother in law is the sweetest person on the planet, and love her as much as my own mother, I just hate hearing her cry b/c of idiots. She's having other problems as well, but a lot of it comes from email issues.

Oh and you know that scene from Nation Treasure where Rylie is "soaking in" the fact that he knows something that Nicholas Cage's character doesn't? Well I had that happen to me tonight. DH told me that they were remaking Snow White. I Googled it b/c I hadn't heard it and sure enough they are. He was all "you mean I knew something about Disney before you did?" so annoying!! Since I'm not sure if it's against board rules to link to other sites, I copied the article I read.

But why?
Well, because Disney is planning a live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, directed by Francis Lawrence of I Am Legend.

But ... the monks?
In this version, tentatively titled Snow and the Seven, a British girl in 19th century Hong Kong will realize she must conquer an evil force — and she'll train for her adventure with seven Shaolin monks. There's even a crazy internet rumor that Natalie Portman and Jet Li could be involved.

I'm baffled.
This project has been floating around for a while — Michael Chabon was supposed to write the script at one point, though he's no longer involved, and at least four other writers have also had their hands on the screenplay — but it looks like Disney's really going ahead with it now. I'm not sure why Disney would risk sullying a true classic with a remake that sounds a little ... um, far-fetched, especially when the project has already been this troubled. What's your take?

Kim~ I really don't like that idea AT all!!! Snow White was Walt's first big thing!!! It's so beautiful and classic! She is a little lady--in every sense of the word...true feminine beauty and the little dwarfs just love her for her sweetness and will do anything for her. I don't want to see her doing kung fu, or karate or whatever!!! I think that would be terrible!!! But, that's just my 2 cents! I love Natalie Portman though...I can see her in a classic Snow White dress!!!! She was so good in Mr. Magorium!!!!!

OOOHHHHHH~ I am under 60 days!!

59 and counting!!!

Gotta get our airfare--probably today..it did drop again yesterday!!!

YAY for under 60 days!
YAY for Shelly - 1 month!! Have you started packing?

BOO for anyone messing with Snow White. Walt would roll over...

Oh Shelly!!! Yippee for you!!!!!!:yay::cheer2: Are you getting that packing done? Never mind...I know you are!!! As far as airfare, it's been all over the board lately. Last year we got it for like $208 RT (maybe it was $211?) anyway...that is the lowest we have gotten for the last 5 or 6 trips!! The days of under $100 RT I think are gone!! Ha!! Anyway, it was back up to $278RT last week, then it dropped to $248 ...last night it was $218, so I told M we better jump on that!!!!!!! We do use our flyer miles, but the cheaper the better---takes less points. I would reaaaaallly love to fly out of the local airport and connect in Houston..but why add another $500? If it was cheaper I would do it in a heartbeat! We did do it one year and it was awesome...but, if we have to drive that's fine too...we can listen to Disney on the way!!!

You sound like I did with my airfare saga. I thought it was going to go on forever. I am glad I waited it out though. I ended up paying a little over $600 RT for all of us!! :goodvibes

I totally agree. As much as I love a good martial arts movie, I'm just totally annoyed with this idea. That's why I'm thinking Jet Li better be in it to distract me. I just don't understand why they have to mess with classics. The way I explain it to my DH is "they might as well have Stephen King rewrite Shakespeare". The thing that he used to love to tease me with was that thegoing to remake "Gone With the Wind". I know we have some good actors today, but I just don't think they compair with the greats of old Hollywood IMHO. There are a lot of people making movies that were never taught the lesson of "just because you can, does not mean you have to". After this news, I'm thinking a group of us Snowbirds needs to teach Disney that.

So I'm trying to convince DH to a trip in May as well as November. This is my reasoning.....My youngest DS is in a "behavioral modification" class. He has mild autism spectrum disorder and epilepsy. His behavior has been amazing this year. He can earn "out classes" where he goes to a normal class for one subject. In time he can earn enough out classes to where he is just visiting the b-mode class. Well he has earned 3 outclasses so far and on his way to a 4th. In May the 4th grade at his school will be going to a sleep away camp for 3 days. (Actually all 4th grades in all schools in our disctrict do this.) I'm really nervous about him going b/c of his behavior and some other issues. Then again, I'm worried about his behavior at school if he doesn't go. I'm thinking a trip to WDW (whether DH can go or not) would be perfect.

Hi Snowbirds-
I really hope they don't mess with Snow White. It's perfect the way it is. We actually watched it yesterday. Today I was still in the SNow WHite mood so I renamed all my day care kids and my kids in honor of the movie: Sneezy, Snotty, Croupy, Fussy. I'm hoping these germs are gone soon!

I think I can claim the winner on the "I'm so far behind in scrapbooking contest"!
My DDs are 8 1/2 and 6 1/2. I have just finished DD8's book up to her 3rd birthday and almost done with DD6's first year!
Good thing I'm going on a scrapbooking retreat this weekend!
I got sidetracked by doing so many Disney albums - I've got three trips done, plus my parents' wedding album. So it's not that I haven't been scrapping, just not my kids' books! :)
Hopefully this weekend I can get a couple more years done. I even brought pictures in to work today to crop (I'm not terribly busy and my boss is out sick!)
Yup you win- don't know what you win but you win all the same! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone is feeling well again soon! My grandma says I kept the croup really bad as a kid and she always shuddered when she heard that cough coming.

Me too!! Our family always referred to the cough we (me &my bro) had as a bark..Mom used to say we sounded like little seals barking...once we got going we couldn't quit. Sometimes it was funny, but sometimes we would cough until we thought we were gonna pass out or throw up. Gross, I know, but it really got severe...then in High School they diagnosed me with asthma...had to get an inhaler and everything. I think my lungs were just worn out from staying sick year round. I grew out of the Asthma stuff when I got older...I think moving out of the country helped too...I was allergic to EVERYTHING around us.Bronchitis /walking pneumonia...had stuff like that all the time....seemed like I would finish one round of antibiotics and about a month or so later and i would be right back on it!!!!

Hello Snowbirds..... sounds like everyone else is as busy as I am...

I leave for Disney in 2 days... and I have yet to get my suitcase out.... I think I will have time tonight.... DS passed his road test on Tuesday and is taking my car to golf practice tonight so I will be stuck here... good time to get packing done... laundry is going right now...

Plus I want to clean the house and make a few meals to put in the frig for the boys for while I am gone... they are perfectly fine at making cereal...and toast... but not so much at a nice dinner... I made some lasgna and froze individual packages for them already. Today I think I will do a meatloaf and a cheeseburger pie... they love them both....

Work has been very busy... it seems that it always is when I am trying to get out of town... thats okay... keeps me from going stir crazy about how much longer I have...

well back to work... have to create a flyer for the varsity golf team banquet and get it in the mail today!!!
