Well, folks, I'm baaaaack..... I know you missed me, right?:lmao:

After my last trip in September, I wanted to go again in December, but couldn't. Then my d took off for her semester in Rome, and I began planning my trip to Italy. (Had a wonderful time, BTW - but if you think there's a lot of walking at Disney, you ain't seen nothin until you're trying to tour Rome or Tuscany!)

Anyway, this year, I am going for my birthday in December, even without the birthday promotion. It'll be a solo trip, but I'll get another AP since my d wants to go back, and I did promise her a graduation trip! And we'll hit HP, too. (I have such a good kid - she told me she wouldn't mind if I went in December before she did, but I really don't want to see it for the first time by myself. Not when I have an HP fan at home, or at least at college!)

Anyway, I hope I can jump back in!

Welcome back! :)

Congrats on the December birthday trip!

Ooooooooohhhhhhhh.. a November countdown... can you post the link for me....

We are there Nov 5-12. Right now I have a reservation at the Yacht Club for the week and SOG for the week. It also happens to be the week the PGA is there for the Childrens Miracle Network tournament. And I have some golfers inthe family who are really interested in seeing this.... so I am thinking we are going to stay at the Yacht Club Friday thru Tuesday and then move over to SOG on Tuesday until we leave Friday .... that is unless my daughter can get us a great deal on dining... from what she has heard many times they offer $25 a day dining for CP guests... if thats the case we might just stay at Yacht Club the whole time.... if not then we will move... the SOG is only $123 a night as compared with the Yacht Club.. at $285 a night... I know that the $150 a day extra doesn't make up for the adding the dining plan... it is more of a convenience thing... anyway... we won't have to pay for tickets so that is helping.... so many choices to make... none of which can be done until Maggie checks into the CP....

I think the 42% off was for the deluxe resorts... but with the CP program we should be able to get 50% off so we are also waiting to check on that...

Too bad you weren't staying until the 13th - Shawna and I are meeting up that day. That's my last day and her first! I will be there from the 6th-13th, at the BWI.

That PGA thing was going on last year when we were there. We didn't go, but were able to see it from the bus when leaving MK one day.

Here's the link to the November countdown ~ http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2437141 We don't have a cool name like the Snowbirds or anything. :rotfl: But we still have fun! There are a few Snowbirds over there - me, Shawna, and Andrea (Peanut1).

Yes, in fact, we did miss you!! Whenever I see your username, I think in my head "sneaky mom". Don't know why!
Italy - OOH! Might have to encourage my kids to study abroad! (In about 10 years!) That is on our "someday" list. I think we may try a mediterranean cruise someday. DH wanted to "tack it on" to our London/Paris trip next summer. I told him uh, no. I'm not 1) made of money, 2) have lots of vacation, but my boss might not appreciate 3-4 weeks off, 3) bringing kids under 12. It will wait for us.
How cool that you get a solo trip and have plans to go back with your daughter! We loved going in December!!

Sounds like fun! You'll have to give us more info on your daughter's job etc. Gotta take advantage of any CP perks you can get!
You guys make me wish I could go in November! Of course, everytime anyone is going to WDW, I wish I could go too!! Doesn't matter if I'm going in LESS THAN THREE WEEKS! I have got to calm down.

Thanks for the warm welcome back! And I've already made a change to my plans! I'm switching from CSR, which I love, to POR, which I've never tried. I'm thinking of going to DTD, which I've also never been to, so I figured the boat would be fun. And my d doesn't like the Port Orleans theming, so I'll go while she's not coming! (And when I come down at some point with my cousins and their son, we'll probably stay at CBR for the pirate theme.) So I'm off to try another resort!

Hello, birdies. I'm here in CA and it's COLD! We did Disneyland (I'll give a review of the good and bad when I get home) on Wednesday and Thursday. Today was the San Diego zoo and it was a high of 66 degrees...Thank the lord that I bought a long sleeved shirt yesterday and wore my sweatshirt almost all day.

I fly home Sunday, so I'll jump on here sometime Monday and let you know about the trip!

Prayers and hugs for all my birdie friends needing a little help today...

I swear, POR is my Disney home-away-from-home and it's not because I MUST STAY there or anything. I think it's just become a comfortable resort to me, my husband, and my best friend (if that makes sense).

I do like that it's walking distance to POFQ, which means we have two food courts to deal with, and each has slightly different options. I always take the boat to DTD or back once each trip (sometimes we'll plan something at another resort, take the bus to DTD, shop, then catch the boat back).

Prior to our Baltics cruise, my husband was all grumbly and complainy about another trip and how we should blah blah blah but he agreed to the deposit for hte 4 night Dream cruise. About 10 nights in to the 12 night cruise, his tone CHANGED. he was bragging about it to our dinnermates and got home and invited a friend & his family to go with us. Ha!!

If the other family does go with us, it's the boy (which is what our friend calls him - the boy)'s first trip to Disney World. Which also means that husband has changed his mind about not setting foot in one of the parks. :rotfl: But, let's face it, HE never got to see Disney as a kid and there IS something about seeing a kid go for the first time!

But I'm trying to remind him to be upfront with our friend about the REAL costs of the trip. Airfare, generally a hotel the night before, getting to the ship and getting to the airport. Potential excursion costs. What's included on the ship.

Oh well. Lots to do this weekend, since we're both healed. Our flower garden out front needs serious tending. The showerhead in the master bath is leaking and then tried to kill me (It's a handheld so it jumped down and bruised me. Ow.). The laundry room cabinet fell OFF the wall one morning (what did I do?!), so we need to patch and repaint. (The cabinet wasn't even mounted to any studs! How did it stay up for a decade? Stupid previous owners!)

That's awesome! :goodvibes It's always fun to try new resorts. And POR is wonderful. I can't believe you have never been to DTD! :scared1: You have to go spend some time there, the atmosphere there is so fun! We usually go 2-3X a trip! :cloud9:

We are going into our 2nd week of school--week one was kinda crazy...borrowing dhs laptop for one subject and just trying to get back in the groove...and we had taken off Monday for the 4th. This week ds11 is going to church camp..so I have to have him read ahead for a couple of days to not be behind when he gets home!!! YIKES!! Oh well...it'll be a regular routine after this...and we have short Fridays!!:cheer2: I am almost to the 4 month mark...got about 19 weeks to go....still waiting for airfare to drop. Good luck with that airfare!! :wizard:

Hi Snowbirds!
I've been taking some time away from being on the computer to get some stuff done around here and spend some time with family. I finally caught up a little and finished my kid's age 2 and 5 scrapbooks. Now to start their ages 3 and 6. At some point I'll scrap our Jan 2010 trip to Disney but I can't bring myself to do it yet. It makes me sad looking at all those pics and how much fun we had.

With everything going on with my FIL and then the loss of my BIL's young cousin, it's really reminded me of what's important in life. Jason and I have talked for years about camping and we've decided to get a camper so we can spend some great family quality time together. We brought it home Saturday and we can't wait to go camping for the first time! I was worried that getting it would mean that we won't go to Disney anymore and that all our trips from now on will be camping so I made Jason promise that we'd still go to Disney every 2 years and in between we'll take cheap little weekend trips camping.

Hey Kim! :goodvibes I was just thinking about you this morning and thinking that I hadn't heard form you in awhile. I knew you had lots going on though. So you guys decided to get the camper after all?! Congrats! :) I'm sure it will bring lots of wonderful family memories.

I am slowly working on getting the kids scrapbooks caught up too. They were SO FAR behind. I got DS11's book caught up last winter and am now working on DS8's!

I always do the WDW scrapbooks as soon as we get back!!

Can I brag a little? Can't often do this in real life!

Anyway, my d worked hard to get an internship, which she basically created herself. Non-paying, but that was fine since it was moving towards her ultimate goal and was good experience. She's loved it so far this summer.

Well, the company got a grant, awarded it to her over all their other interns, and now she's getting paid!

I'm so excited and proud of her! Just had to share!
