Rick - I am so sorry. I don't even know what to say. Thank you for letting us know. I am so very sad for you and your family. You will all be in our prayers. I'm happy to hear that Joni enjoyed chatting with us, we sure enjoyed her. Keep in touch, we are here if you need to talk. Take comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain.

Hi everyone, this is Rick, Joni's Husband.

About 12:15 this morning, Joni lost her battle with cancer. She had a very rough few days, her kidneys and liver started to shut down. She fought like hell but it was just too much. What she posted on here was a fraction of the hell she went through. But you guys all gave her an outlet, a place to forget about her problems. I thank you all for that. She loved to read the boards and she cretainly loved Disney. Cancer can't hurt her anymore. Hopefull she can find Walt and they can take a ride or two together.

She really loved you guys.

Oh Rick!!! We are all soooo very sorry!! I don't know what to say...I will continue to pray for you and your kids.I can only ask that God put you in that special bubble of peace....please know we are thinking of you and praying.

:hug:Rick.... words can not expressess the sadness we feel for you and your family. We are truly sorry for your loss.

Rick-I am so sorry for your loss. We loved having Joni as part of our Snowbird family and she will truly be missed. We will continue to keep you and the kids in our prayers. May God give you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Rick- It's hard to find the words but my heart breaks for you and your family. May Joni be at peace and may God provide you and all the ones she loved so dearly as much peace as possible during this time. She was a wonderful person and we will miss her dearly. If there is anything we can do in her honor please let us know.

Thanks everyone. I miss her so much already, the world just seems a bit darker place today. She was a fighter, she was a Mother, she was my Wife, she was my true north.

Rick - I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. Deepest sympathies and prayers for your family during this time.

Ladies... my mother called today and decided she wants to see Disney at the holidays... I told her I had not planned on going that early to pick Maggie up from the college program... my plan was to go on Jan 4th as Maggie is done on Jan 7th... Mom wants to go Dec 30 until Jan 7th.... she will split the cost of the hotel with me... what to do.. what to do....

Oh Wendy I would go for it! Especially if your mom wants to split the cost. It will be a fun time for you, your mom, and Maggie! :)

Are you sure Maggie will want to come home then? I know a girl that I met here on the DIS who went down there for the CP in late 2008 I believe and kept extending it a semester and now she works at Epcot full time!!

Gee, tough call - NOT! If you can manage to go for that time period, I'd do it. There are so many fun and beautiful things to see during the holidays! I went in early December, so it wasn't very crowded, but loved it!! I think the crowds die down after about Jan 3 (kids go back to school probably).
Of course, if Maggie decides to stick around - that just means one thing - another trip!! Did you get an annual pass?

Oh shoot Wendy :scratchin...I would definitely be leaning to a yes!! Of course,...if you are splitting the cost, it wouldn't be too bad. You could do a cheap room too! I think if you can afford it and Tim doesn't care then GO!!!!!!::yes::

Wendy, I wouldn't hesitate (even though I'd hate the crowds at Disney!). As we all know from the past few days, life is short. I would love for my mother to be well enough to travel with me; alas, it is not to be. If this will make your mom happy, and you not totallyl miserable, do it.

Thanks everyone.... I am really thinking about it... I do have an annual pass... and Maggie can't stay... she graduates in May:banana: and has to finish her last semester at SUNY Oswego... Tim doesn't care ;)... Dan will be busy with Basketball tournaments :jumping3:during that week off and then will be back to school on January 4th...and not many folks are interested in buying a house that week:confused3

I am out of town right now with Daniel at a golf tournament... maybe tomorrow I can see what I can come up with for rooms....:surfweb:

Hey everybody! Well,...I picked up ds11 at church when they returned from church camp Sat evening. He was so hoarse he could hardly speak...his voice is still raspy!!! He had an awesome time...said he wasn't homesick at all..missed us, but was okay. Camp leader said the same thing.... so I know he was good. He loved it...can't wait to go back next year if they do the same one.
Trying to get back in a routine with our school....it's hard because they are still wanting to sleep late...but thats okay...at least we are getting work done...marking off days. We are on Week 3 already!!!:yay: Know why that's so important? Because Week 18 is when we go to DISNEY WORLD!!!! I can keep up with how many weeks I have left that way. (With one week off in there somewhere for a break)...so. I will probably need to go thru my park plans at some point and make sure my ADRs are exactly what I want!I just want to wait till a little closer to time in case any park hours change or whatnot. I doubt I will mess with my ADRs too much....there is one I may change from a dinner to a lunch...just have to wait and see.
So...do y'all do spreadsheets? I usually get paper and write down all my stuff...write all over it! One page per park.-I do print out all my ADRs...then I write little notes on it and that's all I bring...each day I stick one page (the printed ADR page) in my backpack and have any notes on there. At night I write in my journal each day where we ate, what we ate and what was significant. That's it. Don't ever use a spreadsheet......just curious what method you use!

I was thinking last night about our Snowbirds....has anyone heard anything from Peach3s? I miss hearing from her!! I wonder if we can search her and see if she's on another thread? I loved hearing about their life over in the Middle East .....don't know what made her pop in my head...but it made me miss her....so if you are reading...Hey Peach3s!!!!! We miss you!!!

Oh geez...just had a whole thing typed up and lost it!!!! WOW! I hate when that happens!!! Ok...try it again!!!
Well, if you need spreadsheets use 'em!!! I did one for our trip a few years ago and it was cute...had some Minnie and Mickey's, Toy Story!!! I might do another one for this trip...but I am such a pencil/paper girl!!!!!!
Which brings me to.....cell phones....dh has a blackberry and he loves it.he uses it for business and he needs it...but I just want to use my phone to talk, and text.....have an upgrade coming up the end of August...so I am trying to research and see what I want. So far, the LG Ally looks great. I have had an LG for the last 2 phones and they have been trouble free. The only thing with this phone (the Dare) is it's touchscreen only...no keypad. I have come to hate it! That touchscreen ain't all it's cracked up to be!!!!!! I have friends that use a Blackberry just for talking/texting...but I don't know if I want to spend that just to converse! What do you all use that you love?

Funny! I was reviewing phones with my brother last night. I love the look of the LG Ally. Seems like a decent phone and the reviews are "not bad" and it's not going to set the world on fire, but it will do what you need it to do (especially since YOU personally won't be abusing it). I have the LG enV Touch and it flips open to an actual keypad. The Ally seems to have the same thing... and my enV Touch works really well in that regard. I hope to upgrade to a smart phone next year, but we'll see!

The Ally will come with an extra data plan expense, though. If you don't want that, then maybe stick to a more traditional model? Like the enV Touch?
(heheh)

Oh, and speaking of my brother, he and I were talking about the family trip next summer to Disney World. We're starting to talk hotels and we're looking at moderate resorts. It will be three rooms - my parents in one, Jeremy and myself in another, my brother, his wife and their... 9 month old? in the third.

-I'm tired of Port Orleans Riverside and would like to stay somewhere else.
-Port Orleans French Quarter IS the smallest... but it shares a bus with POR.
-Coronado Springs and Caribbean Beach Resort each have buses that drive around the resort... but they don't share buses to the parks.
-There is a good chance that my brother will have his own car and may drive his family in, at least in the mornings.

What do you all think? With a little tiny one, are we better off in the small resort? Or does it not matter? Would it be easier to be at a resort that doesn't share a bus?
