~Snowbird Chat 2~

Hi friends! Speaking of one week....one week today I will be flying to MCO and in just 8 days I will be boarding my first Disney cruise. Well, it's my first cruise in any cruise line! I am looking forward to seeing my fellow agency friends who I haven't seen since last May. We all need to escape this dreadful NE weather.

I have not even thought about packing but I am finding that a cruise is easier to pack for than WDW. We will probably only have 1 actual session and I plan on wearing a nice sundress. Other than that it's just bathing suits and more sundresses for dinner! Easy peasy! I did have to buy new sunscreen and other travel sizes items today at Target.

We know our stateroom assignments and we have a verandah. So spoiled. :) I cannot wait to see the Disney Magic in person since I watched the special on Discovery America in January. I need some sunshine and girl time. Yay!

So exciting! You are going to have a blast and I totally thought about the weather when I saw your count down this morning. Perfect time for cruising!:beach:

Another snow day here for us... Meghan enjoy that cruise! Sunblock, sundresses and warm sunshine sound absolutely wonderful right now!

no snow day, but sleet sleet sleet and ice!! again. 4th time for us this year which is very unheard of for us, and way colder than the norm for March… Crazy considering that Sat afternoon we hit 88 and almost 90% humidity and last night it dropped to 40* from 70 something just while we were eating dinner.

Same here, Shawna. We had a pretty loud thunder storm last night at bedtime.

I did not check the weather in the morning and left my house in shorts and flip flops. It was very cold walking out to my car in the evening!

Knowing our crazy weather, I'm sure it will be 80 again this weekend.

Wow with the crazy weather!! I hope you guys who don't normally have this cold get warmed up soon! We are on a very slow gradual warming trend - it should get above freezing again this weekend here - but I don't mind - I'm leaving on a jet plane in 2 days!!! :yay:

Of course, I have not done the laundry, packed, cleaned, run to Target (at least I have a list!) or anything yet! I did make a pile of shorts and t-shirts.

We still have school conferences for Paige tonight, dance for both the next two nights, and I have a haircut tomorrow night. Plenty of time to get it all done, right? :bitelip:
Too bad they expect me to show up on the job and work!
Good thing DH is off work so he can do the chores!

Can someone come to my house and pack for me? I am starting to panic!!!! Weather is showing 66 degrees in Orlando on Friday which is when we go to the Port. A lot warmer than we have here now, but that isn't exactly little sundress weather!

Everyone must know I am leaving soon and I have been getting slammed with trip requests!!! It's a very good thing, but I have not even thought about my own trip. Thankfully, my clients that have final payments due this week are letting me put them through a few days early. Whew! I definitely need this trip....no phone or email access will really let me relax. :beach:

I feel your pain Meghan!! Bring a pair of capris and a sweater and you'll be fine! I hope you do get to relax and enjoy yourself!

When you're done with the packing helper - send them to me! I have piles and realized I don't have very many pairs of suitable shorts. All the ones I saw at the store last night (Target - the only place I had time to get to) were SOOOO short - not for people with my thighs. I guess I'll get by with the two or three I have plus capris. I just want to get out of here!!!

I wish I owned capris! Of course I cannot find any at Target or Old Navy....ON had some but they did not for well. Very strange fit. I have lots of dresses so that is what I am bringing.

I almost always wear long pants on planes, regardless of the weather in either location. That way I always have at least one pair of long pants. I tend to get cold in airports and on planes anyways, so it covers both issues.

It's warming up here. Hopefully, it sticks. Not that I've had a huge hankering to go outside lately, but if I do start getting stir crazy, it will be nice to be able to at least go sit on the porch or something.

I'm letting Logan sleep in a bit this morning. Lydia slept awesome last night (from 10pm to 4am).
She had her two week appointment yesterday. She's grown an inch and gained an extra 8oz over her birth weight.

Meghan- Have a wonderful time on the cruise!!!!

Becca- Lydia sounds like she's doing wonderfully! So nice of her to let you sleep :)

Hi birdie friends! I'm back from my trip - and it was AWESOME!! I can't wait to tell you all about it. In a nutshell - we loved DL! Had great weather and lots of fun. Crowds did get busier, but we managed. Lots of walking - but everything is so close!

I do plan to do a TR - but have to decide if I'm going to upgrade to photo bucket pro or use Flickr.

Welcome home! Glad to hear that you had a great time.

I have been in Disney depression ever since I returned from my cruise. :( I need to go back! The weather was perfect and it was so relaxing. The Magic is beautiful!

Well, I'm curing my post-Disney trip depression! We are going on a cruise!
We booked a 3 night for 1/2/15 and are going to brave the parks for a few days between Christmas and New Year! I'm very excited! We also might have friends travel on the cruise with us. One of Paige's best friends (a dance buddy) and her family are looking at going - we would surprise all the kids with that! I hope it works out!

I am working on the TR too - started writing last night, and now I'll organize the pictures and get going. Hopefully this weekend!! I'll put a link here once it's up!

Awesome! Can everyone keep a secret? I booked a future cruise onboard the Magic! We have no idea if we'll be able to go or not but right now it's a 3-night on the Dream on 1/3015! I really want to sail on the Magic again, so I am eagerly awaiting DCL's announcement this week of the rest of their 2015 itineraries!

Woohoo!! It's great that you can book onboard and move it later when the itineraries come out! That's what we did!

Sheree & Meghan~~good for y'all!! I know how that Disney funk can be! I am sure the minute Mike and I get home I will have it! LOL! I usually have our family vacation at least booked right now, but with the move and our trip in a couple of weeks, I just haven't done it.. but I was going to try and at least book that this week…thank goodness we have that 45 day window and can shuffle dates around if we need to! LOL!!

You will be booking again before you know it!!

So exciting! Do you get a really good deal when you book onboard?

Yes, you get a discount. It's not huge. But there are so few real discounts for DCL unless you happen to be military or FL resident. I think it's 10% off the fare (not including taxes and fees) and then you get an onboard credit based on the price of the new cruise! It sure helps! Plus a lot of agencies offer an additional onboard credit if you go through them. They let you book a "dummy" date and then you can move it once without penalty within a certain number of months of booking - it just changed, so I can't remember what the new rules are.

So exciting! Do you get a really good deal when you book onboard?

You do get 10% off the cruise fare (like Sheree mentioned), an onboard credit (cruises of less than 7 nights get $100 and the longer cruises get $200) and if you book a cruise of 7 nights or more you get a discounted deposit. You have to take your future cruise in the next 18 months from the time you booked onboard, but you can move it. If you move it, you still get the discounted rate which is nice.
