~Snowbird Chat 2~

No, but it is gonna go public Thursday they say,... I will be on it then!! LOL!!!

yes, you should do it with FD!!!! And go when I go girl!!!!!!

Disneyshakeygirl~ have fun on your trip!!!!! And Lilmermaid, what are your dates again? October right?
Oh how I wish I could wave my magic wand, sprinkle a little pixie dust and make that happen!!! I wouldn't be able to do it. I have 6 FT kids lined up for the fall and 2PT kids sharing the last spot. I'm planning on saving up some money this year though for a trip hopefully in May or next fall though!
No, however, I am in England right at the moment and am hoping to go to Scotland in the next week or so! Is there anything you want me to find out?
Hope you're having a wonderful trip!

Kim, that makes me sad!:( I was hoping you could swing it!! But, it's such a blessing for you to have kids waiting!!!

I didn't get to post it, but Mike had a Deviated Septum surgery on Tues morning, so we were pretty fried by that afternoon--yesterday we both laid around...I have had to try and keep all the meds and nasal sprays and stuff straight!! But, he's on the mend, but dang, trying to do school with the kids, keep him straight and do stuff at the office has me running in circles....but, we are good...I think after tomorrow he will feel so much better. Right now he is super congested--but no bleeding--we are just scared to death he is going to sneeze!!!! Doc said "if you have to sneeze, let it rip- DO NOT hold it back!" He said he has had people hold a sneeze (one lady was in church and didn't want to be loud) and it busted her eardrum and she is now deaf in that ear!! I tell my kids that all the time and they didn't believe me,..but now I have PROOF!!

on a better note...I called and got free dining this morning!!!:yay::yay: Saved us $1100!!!

Need some travel advice from my Snowbird friends.... anyone ever been to Scotland or Ireland? I have only been to France in Europe... want to surprise my husband with a trip for his 50th birthday....
My Mom just went to Ireland a couple months ago. My uncle gave my aunt a trip for her 40th birthday and sent my Mom with her. They stayed mostly in Dublin and took one trip out to Tipperary and another up to Belfast. They only stayed for a week, so they didn't have a whole lot of time. They didn't rent a car, because I guess neither one of them felt comfortable driving on the left side of the road.

If I ever get to go, my plan is to rent a house somewhere (probably Tipperary, because that's where my ancestors are from) and do day trips to everything else I want to see. Ideally we'd be able to stay for at least 2 weeks, so maybe we'd split time with somewhere else.

I have been to Scotland but it was in 1995, so I probably won't have much to offer by way of help. I did love it - I was mostly in Edinburgh. It's beautiful country. The people are super friendly there! I stayed with friends and they drove me around a lot. Then I took the train down through to Stratford upon Avon and London after that. Great fun!

Shawna - congrats on saving big $$ and glad to hear Mike's doing well after his surgery.

Hooray for Free Dining!!!!!

I'm glad Mike is recovering nicely. I never knew that about sneezing. Yikes!

I wish I could swing a trip this fall but I am working on my master plan with my daycare. By this time next year I am hoping to operate on the 10 month schedule of our school district and have mainly teachers as clients. I would like summers with just my own two kids again. That's the one thing I truly miss about being a classroom teacher. I'm slowly weeding out people that need year round care and staying filled to my maximum to save some money for the transition. Right now I only have 2 kids that are not teacher kids. I would have let them go but this next school year I lose my 5th grade after school kid because he will head to middle school and two kids that will head to K in different school districts. I'm praying I can fill their 3 spots with teacher kids for the 2013-2014 school year and have next summer off! The good news is that I just signed on Andrew and Emily's vice principal's two kids. I'm hoping having her as a client will be good word of mouth advertising to the staff at the school. I live less than .3 miles from the school so I'm very convenient to the school which is a big plus for potential new families!

Here's what we've been working on- almost finished!!!!! Only about 6 more feet to go until we hit the wall and are done! We've been working on it mainly in the evenings so it's taking forever. We should be done by this weekend! Then we'll move on to installing new interior doors and putting up new trim.

Thanks Sheree!!
Kim...I like your plan!! That would work out so much better for you!! And hopefully the VP will bring in some new teacher clients for you!! I loooove your new floor!!!

Kim - I really like the layout! It looks really nice.

Disney Mommy 3 - Glad Mike is feeling better. I too didn't know about the sneezing - crazy!

I've been in England since Wednesday morning and it is so much fun and absolutely nuts all at the same time. The Olympic buzz is definitely here. The crowds are insane.

I've been to three museums, a night ride on the London Eye, went shopping this morning and then went to a mashed potato specialty restaurant (which wasn't that good, but ah well - you live and you learn!). Tonight, I'm going to the Ceremony of the Changing of the Keys, where they shut down London Tower and change the keys over.

Tomorrow I'm heading to Brighton to meet up with a friend, who will show me around. Sunday, I'm off to The British Library for an exhibit on books (they've got original manuscripts of books such as Alice in Wonderland and the first Harry Potter). Sleeping will be a much welcomed thing!

No, however, I am in England right at the moment and am hoping to go to Scotland in the next week or so! Is there anything you want me to find out?

Right now it looks like we are going to fly into Glasglow. Picking up our rental car... then drive to Dublin (5 hours) for a couple of days... no idea what to do there so would love some input... After two days in Dublin we will head back to Scotland where we will be in Turnbury for 2 days then head over St Andrews for 4 days then head to Edinbourgh for a couple of days.. then home... so I am looking for a place to stay in Dublin... so far we have a B&B in Turnbury and in St. Andrews... but would love to know about tours, castles... etc....

MaggieD - I think there are some people from Scotland staying where I'm staying at the moment. Let me ask around, if that's okay, and I'll get back to you :)

HEY SNOWBIRDS!!!!!

Just thought I would drop in and say a quick hello! :goodvibes We are having a crazy hot summer up here in Northwestern Ontario and pretty much right across Canada too! :faint: I am so incredibly thankful for air conditioning! :cool1: we have been averaging about 86 F almost every day for the last 2 weeks! It is supposed to continue like this for at least another 2 weeks! Haven't had this hot of a summer up here for quite a while!

For those of you "in the know", I am doing VERY well! God is so good! I was offered a job 2 days a week in our church and I am absolutely LOVING it!!!!! I work in the main office on Tuesdays and then on Wednesdays I am the assistant to our Children's pastor! Our situation remains the same, but I continue to stay strong and hopeful! I am so incredibly thankful for all the amazing blessings that God has bestowed on me and my children in the last 15 months!

I think of you all so often! Miss hangin' out with y'all! I have no concrete plans for a Disney trip at any time in the very near future but I am keeping my fingers crossed that something might work out in the next year or so! ;) The girls are just itching to get back there and to tell you the truth, so am I!

Hope everybody is doing well! Love and Hugs to all of my Snowbird pals! :goodvibes

I was JUST thinking about you Kim!! So glad to hear you're doing well. I've missed you around here. You should come read my London/Paris TR. It's okay if you don't post. It's getting to be rather picture intensive.

It's been ridiculously hot here as well - tomorrow supposed to be 100!!! We've been stuck inside a lot - I am doing some house organizing though!
What a nice job to have! I go back and forth between wishing I only worked 3 days and wishing I could be working more (mostly for $, but sometimes the kids make me a little ).

The girls are super busy dancing this summer (between the 2 of them we're over there 4 nights a week). Good thing it's close by! Tell your girls my girls say HI!
:hug::hug:

I'm from Ontario too! I spoke to my mom earlier today on Skype and apparently Ontario had the hottest June in history. I hope it cools down for Ontario soon.

Congratulations on getting the job! You must be really pleased.

It's been a hot one here this summer. Most days I check the Orlando temp and we are hotter. :faint: Crazy!

Have a great rest of your summer. :goodvibes

Hey Kimmie!!! I am so glad you are enjoying the new job and have so much peace in your situation!! Check in with us more often girl!! We MISS you!!!!

Kim#1: My Mom always preferred having teacher's kids as well. That freed her up to throw us all in the car and go visit people during the summer.
Kim#2: Congrats on the job!

Hello everyone! I have been absent around the DIS lately and it's because we've been so busy!!! Last week was VBS week at church and I'm now one of the 3 main leaders in the games department. Well, last week had to be THE hottest week we've had all summer. Hello sunburn!!! Even though it was a tiring week it was a great week. We had over 400 kids (not all on one day, but over the course of the week we had 400 different kids) and they all had a great time.

Can you believe we're already halfway through July? Madison has been keeping us busy.....she had a Gifted & Talented camp the last week in June, she has band lessons twice a week throughout July, plays soccer once a week with practice once a week, Irish dance started last week with class once a week, this Wed-Fri she has an Irish dance boot camp....I think that's about it. I can't keep up with everything!!!
