~Snowbird Chat 2~

Happy Monday everyone- I'm not feeling chipper this morning but figured if I think positively about it being Monday maybe it will make the day go by faster. :goodvibes

How was everyone's weekend? We went to Virginia to visit my grandmom and aunt that live down there. It was wonderful to see my grandmom but I feel like I need another weekend since there wasn't much time to relax. We came home to our construction zone of a house and I wanted to walk right back out the door again. Jason has been working on replacing the banister and we are still waiting for the rest of our flooring to come in before we can get started installing it. The nose pieces for the steps are on back order and should be shipped from the manufacturer May 1st. We can't start without them. I'm hoping to paint while we are waiting but am having a hard time deciding on a color. I'll be really happy when this is all finished!

ShakeyGirl- I despise pink eye!!!!! I also wear contacts and it's torture to have to wear glasses when I get it.

Sheree- Hooray for ripping up the old blue carpet! What are you replacing it with? Happy 50th to your parents!

Well, the new carpet is supposed to be arriving RIGHT NOW! Of course, I'm not home, so I don't know for sure. The girls spent yesterday rollerblading around the family room on the cement!! It was cute.
We're putting in a brown/beige carpet - should hide dirt!! I've got a construction zone looking house too - furniture is all over the place!! The poor dog doesn't know where to go!

Shakeygirl - what a great time you're going to have - the London Eye is so cool! I only did it during daylight, but I bet it looks awesome at night! My friend who lives there is coming home for the time of the Olympics since they couldn't get tickets to anything either! Have you been to England before? Did I already ask you that? Keep following, lots more to come! (even though I didn't get around to an update this weekend...)

Shawna - Congrats on 5000!!

Kim - Don't you hate when you go do something fun for the weekend, but no one does your usual weekend chores etc, while you're gone??? It does seem like you didn't get the weekend at all!

Thank you all for the congrats to my parents! We'll be enjoying a yummy dinner with them on Sunday at a great restaurant!

Kim - I agree! For me, I wear glasses all of the time (contacts don't agree with my eyes), and having to keep wiping my glasses and clean my eyes up is just so annoying.

I hope things have settled just a bit for you and you've had just a teensy bit of relaxation.

Sheree - I have been to England before (I hold dual citizenship between there and Canada), but never for this long before. I'm so excited for The London Eye, I'm sure it's going to be so pretty to look down at London at night. I don't blame your friend for coming home - very smart! Getting tickets was so difficult.

My friends and mum have all pointed out that while people are leaving to get away from the crowds etc, I'm going in! I think it's mostly that I just want to experience it and say, hey, I was here (even though I wasn't attending any of the events! :D).

Looking forward to the next instalment of the trip report!

Hi everyone. We had a crazy weekend around here too. Madison and I drove into Syracuse Friday night because she had a feis (pronounced fesh...Irish dance competition) on Saturday. We stayed with my aunt and uncle and it was nice to be able to visit with them (even though it was our 10 year wedding anniversay on Friday). Saturday was a VERY long day at the competition. We got home around 5pm and we were wiped out.

While I was getting ready for church yesterday, Tony got sick. Some sort of stomach bug. Before I left for church with the kiddos, I wiped everything down with Clorox wipes (light switches, remotes, door knobs, etc). We came home, I fed Cole his lunch and then we went to lunch with my older sister (her birthday was Friday). We then stopped by my parents house after lunch to hang out (and stay out of the yucky house). By the time we got home it was time for Cole's dinner and then I had to run to the store to get Tony ginger ale and saltine crackers. Came home and it was bath time for Cole. Got Madison off to bed at 9pm, played with Cole until it was time for him to go to bed and then I just crashed. :faint: Tony felt better today, but decided to work from home.

Sounds like construction in the home is the name of the game... we had a minor roof leak last week... the insurance company came out today and said it was about $2500 worth of repairs.... ... so on Thursday the cathedral ceiling in my family room will be ripped out, with all the blown insulation going all over and a new one put up.... can't wait for the mess that is going to make.... grrrrr......

Oh Wendy!! What a mess for sure!!! Poor you!!!!
I spent today cleaning everything out of our master closet, deep cleaning, dusting and reorganizing...i did this last year and we got rid of quite a bit of stuff--where did all this crap today come from?!!!!!! Still have to hang Mikes clothes back up on his side,...but i am worn out!! Will have to do it after dinner--at least my side is all nice and organized!:thumbsup2

Laura - How ya feeling?

Sheree - How's the carpet looking?

Well it's official, I'm a snowbird again!!! We booked yesterday Jan 5 - 12, Old Key West 2 bedroom villa. We've never stayed there, however my aunt has and said she enjoyed it. We are rapidly becoming the family that stays at a different resort everytime, which we are ok with that. The amount of people could range from 5 - 9, so we needed to make sure we have some room to move around.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Yay for you!!! :yay: I have heard that OKW was a great place to stay. Those are prob very good dates also,..NY is over and MLK hasn't hit yet!!! Should be nice & dead! :rotfl:
Well, we were planning to take the kids to NYC this summer...but YIKES!! it's so expensive for a fam of 5, plus the airfare...:faint: I just don't know if we are gonna do it....I am just not comfortable being out that kind of moolah to have nothing but a room and airfare--Disney packages have spoiled me~!:cutie:

I'm much better now, thank you! All back to normal and perked up.

Congrats on booking your trip! SO excited for you!

I so agree with you!!! Every time we take a vacation that is not Disney or a cruise, I cringe. I hate seeing all those little numbers start to add up!

Happy Hump Day ladies! Lots of construction-type things going on around here. None at our house, thankfully. My husband is DONE with projects for a couple of years. We did our kitchen and back deck this past year. I'm dying to have the bathrooms upgraded but they will have to wait *sigh*

Things are good here in PA. Just ordered our MVMCP tickets :) Very excited about that! All of the advance purchase tickets were sold out, though. How does that happen?

Mindy, which party night did y'all pick? We are not sure if we are going the party or not,..we have 2 full MK days planned--wed night we will do MSEP and Wishes...so, I really hate to fork out $$$$ for it. Especially since that week has been so slow for us--i guess we can always tack it on later if we choose,..if I decide to go, it'll be on Thr. Those have always been good nights for us to do it!
Well,...me and the kiddos are almost through deep cleaning the house this week,...yikes...dust is the enemy. would love to just :wizard: poof! And have it gone!! we finish school this week (the two that homeschool) and I want to be able to have some days where we just play!!!!
Looked at the #s again last night for the NYC trip this summer,.. Not looking too good! I am now thinking we will do a short trip to Galveston maybe--like 3 days and let my middle one check out the Pirate expo thing...then if I can talk Mike into it, drive to Gulf Shores or Fort Walton for a short trip... I will just save all those airline miles for our WDW trip this fall...unless of course Mike has an epiphany and wants to take us on a $$$ vacation and we feel no guilt:rotfl2:

Because our trip is so short, we really only have Friday, 12/7 to pick from. We arrive just before 1 so we'll get to the resort, head to the MK to see things that are closed during the party, back to the Poly for dinner and then back to MK for MVMCP. I think we'll do DHS the next day, Epcot on Sunday, and as much AK as possible on Monday before our flight leaves Monday evening. So much to see, so little time LoL

My mom hasn't been there since '98 and has never stayed onsite. I'm saving my pennies so that I can upgrade to a TPV. I want her to be able to sit on the balcony and watch Wishes if she wants. I've already saved enough to pay for *my* portion of the trip :)

Red - Hey we're going to check out OKW in October - only a 1BR, but I'll let you know how we like it!

so I better get on the stick and order my MNSSHP tix yes? We have enough Disney Visa rewards to pay for them! YAY! Hope they have the night I want!

So you know that new(er) place in DTD - Pollo Campero? I didn't realize it was a chain. (Happens to me a lot - e.g. Joe's Crab Shack...). There's one here in the town I'm working this week - and what is right next to it? Wait for it...

A KFC!!!! How ridiculous is that???

Well the carpet is in and looks fabulous! I am loving it! I wish I didn't have to put the rest of the "stuff" back in the room. I'm going to try to declutter a bit.

Yeah - I can't believe how expensive travel has gotten - along with everything else. We were invited to DH's family reunion over Memorial Day weekend in PA - just west of Pittsburgh. Not sure we'll do it - it would be a day sandwiched in between two days of driving. I don't know if it's worth that time/money. It would be fun, but... My SIL invited us to go on a Royal Caribbean cruise in January too. I'd like just DH and I to go but that dang airfare!

Hey snowbirds. We are all booked for Halloween!!! I get to make my adr's tomorrow but I don't really think there are any reservations that I need to worry about getting. We are bringing my folks for 4 days of our 8 day trip. We are staying at AKV in a 2BR. We are going to the the halloween party on Nov 2. We did it before on Halloween and it was crazy busy. I am hoping this will be better.

We are taking advantage of the cheap park tickets again by having our daughter participate in the YES program. She is doing the OCean Discovery class at Epcot on Halloween.

How sweet!! And hopefully some type of room discount will come out for you to take advantage of... i bet she has an awesome time no matter what!! As far as AK,...that is my least favorite park..my little 2 reaaaaally want to do it this trip-we have skipped it the last 2 trips--all they want to do is ride stuff at the Dino-Rama and dig in the boneyard!!! the last time we did the Animal Safari, we didn't really see much-the first time we saw lots of animals,..not sure what happened that 2nd time! So, we are planning to go first thing and get outta there around lunch...they dont' like EE, we are not doing Kali, so, and I have seen the Flights of Wonder EVERY time!!! So,I will take them since we haven't been in so long, but it's gonna be fast and furious!! LOL!!

hey!! Glad to see you here!! you will leave right before I get there!!! We coulda had a Dismeet!!!!! The only one I reaaaaally want to get-if it's even gonna be open- is Be Our Guest!! Let me know if it's on the ADR list tomorrow!!! I heard it will be ready for Nov travelers!!:cool1:
I made our ressies today!:yay: Paid our $200 depo,..now I only owe a million dollars...just kidding!! I figured if I went ahead and made it, we could start paying it down over the next 6 months!! I just couldn't stand it any longer,...had to make those ressies so it would be 'official'...at least in my mind! I would love a room discount,...the 30% is fab for the Deluxes!! But, will take FD too--only if we don't have to give up the BC...that happened last year--had to go to the Poly to get the FD deal--we were really wanting to do the CR or the BC...not sure what we'll do if the FD is all that's offered and we can't go there,....

Peanut - congrats on your booking too! We're looking forward to our first MNSSHP!

I just added another ADR for breakfast at Kona today! I THINK I'm done now! :rolleyes1

Im so grumpy right now:worried:

I got up at 6am to make my ressies online..only to find that my hotel reservation wouldn't link so I couldn't do my 180+10 days of reservations..I am so mad.

I called at 7am to make the rest and spent 35 min on the phone only to have the CM tell me after the fact that I couldn't make my reservations because their credit card holding system was down...UGH!!!! I usually am not a grumpy person, but today is not my day.

oh Crud!!! What a waste of good sleep!!!!!! I would be sooo aggravated! Was it something they were dealing with just today? I have till the 14th,..so surely it'll be fixed by then,....I thought i read something yesterday where someone had a hard time getting stuff done thru the online system:(
