~Snowbird Chat 2~

Hello everyone. Been quiet on here lately. Hope everyone is doing well. I've been working a ton of hours with Easter coming up, but it should slow down again next week.

I wanted to jump on here quick and introduce you to the newest member of my family.

Everyone meet Splash! She is named after Splash Mountain, our favorite ride. She is a 12 week old Shih-tzu.

She is ABSOLUTELY adorable! I love the name!!!

What a super cute puppy!!!! Love the name too!

I've been so busy lately- I really plan to start my TR from Europe this weekend. Hopefully it will happen! ;) I'll post a link here.

Very busy around here too. Madison is on spring break next week, so hopefully I'll have more time to Dis! She's so good at playing with Cole for awhile so I can get stuff done.

red...Love your puppy!!tooo cute!!!

Well, Wed was my dd's bday!! She's 9!! I can't believe it!!! Where is that tiny baby?!! We got someone to do our class for us at church and we went to eat at a place that does the Hibachi grill in front of you, then we went for ice cream....and tonight her nana is coming in and she's having 2 little friends sleep over...doing pizza and cookie cake,..and I am sure listening to them run & holler!! LOL...she has some LOUD friends:rotfl: One talks really loud, one talks a lot, and she giggles all the time,so I am sure it'll be NOT quiet in the 'hood tonight!! Hope that y'all have a great Easter Weekend and that it's full of Blessings--I love easter time, but my favorite is the whole reason behind it!! Thank you Lord for being Who You are!!!!:worship:

Hello Snowbirds

Cute puppy!! :lovestruc

Happy Birthday to your DD Shawna!! :cool1: My oldest turns 13 tomorrow. I don't know where the times goes. He is having a few friends over for pizza & cake tomorrow. But no sleepover! :scared1:

Happy Easter everyone! :goodvibes I hope you all have a safe and Blessed weekend.

Little Splash is precious!! I saw the pictures on FB :)

It's a big birthday weekend around here!! Happy birthday to both "babies".

Rylan and I spent today at Hersheypark. I hate that I go there and can't help but compare it to Disney. I have no tolerance for the crowds that it draws and refuse to go after Memorial Day.

Called Disney today to make our room request for our December trip. Only 8 mo the to go!! Just over 3 months until my first trip to Disneyland :)

Hey ladies!
I'm in a Disney slump due to the fact that I can't see it in any form in my immediate future.

We just had to drop quite a bit of our savings in order to pay off some student loan debt. It's a long painful story, but basically the military/government didn't hold up their end of the bargain to pay it off, and we made some stupid decisions along the way partially because we weren't receiving any communications from the loan agency, and partially due to miscommunications when we did communicate. In short, while we still have some money in our savings we need to keep in there in order to have the means to purchase some more responsible items once we get back to the States, which is going to be sooner than we originally intended.

As much as I would love to go to Tokyo Disney, I can't justify it without giving up things such as a second vehicle and home furnishings.

Right now we're waiting on a signature from the brigade commander that would permit us to medically transfer to somewhere other than our home of record (Kansas) while Logan's medical issues are sorted out. We're aiming for Hawaii. If we get it, then at the very least we may get to take in a character meal at Aulani - and of course we'd get to live in Hawaii for a while. Hopefully, Hawaii doesn't hate us as much as South Korea has.

Anyways, I hope all of your Disney futures look a bit brighter! I'll live vicariously if I must.

As per my trips since 2009, only two :sad2:

July 2009 - Hot Hot Hot
December 2009 - Got canceled because we wanted to save money for travel whilst in South Korea
November 2010 - Right before Logan left for South Korea

If we end up in Hawaii for 3 years (we've moved 3 times in the last three, so I'm not really optimistic - though moving back to the mainland would increase the potential for a Disney trip) I doubt we'll venture to Disney during that time, because it's so far and expensive.

So we're looking at 2016...I may have to start siphoning off a monthly amount into a secret bank account... $100/month for 36 months IS $3600!

Hope everyone had a great Easter yesterday!!
Becca,...YIKES!!! Well, at least you had some money saved and COULD pay it off! I know it was painful, but hopefully it's taken care of now! hawaii would be a good place to be stationed-my dad was there for a while too...you could pretend you were living at the Poly!:rotfl:

I just hope the Poly doesn't lose its allure! Though, I suppose if we really love Hawaii, staying at the Poly might be a nice taste, when we're back in the States.

I'm still trying to work out a much less expensive trip to Tokyo Disney, but it's so hard. I don't know if it would be worth it if we have to move hotels, but the New Sanno (military) hotel in Tokyo is pretty much booked every weekend, and it would be our least expensive option. Basically, it's a choice between attempting to fly Space A (the flight into Tokyo goes out on Thursdays) and staying at a more expensive hotel at the last minute, or buying our plane tickets and booking New Sanno for as long as we can. I probably should just give up on it, but it's soo hard!

Hey girls~
Hope y'all are all having a good week--Becca,,hope you find out something positive soon!
We are having really nice weather--still getting much needed rain! We are so thankful..I am telling you what,..that Drought last year almost did us in around here!!! LOL!!
gotta brag a little--on my ds16...remember the speech we all had to do in HS? Antony's Soliloque? "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ear..'...well, he had to do it this morning and made 92!! Other top 2 scores were an 86 and a 72!! Other grades scraped in with 20s and 30s!!!:scared1: I was so proud of him!!! he is doing fantastic in his new school this year!!
We are planning a summer trip! We are going to....(drumroll):rockband:.......we are headed to NYC!! Mike and ds16 went 2 years ago, but I need suggestions on hotel rooms for a family of 5. I was looking at the Doubletree Guest Suites at Times Square, but am not sure if I want to be "at" TS the whole time.... or anything else you wanna pass along! I think it'll be the last week of May, when he gets outta school, or the mid-3rd week of June....trying to lock into the best airfare right now.
And for those who have been or live around there,...what is a time killer, or something that is on the tourist's list and you HATED it!?

Way to go DS16!!! That is awesome that he did so well. I never had to do that speech in high school. :confused3

When we went to NYC last Februay (well, I stayed in the hotel getting sick), we stayed in Jersey City. Much more affordable and we took the Path Train into the city. I don't really know much about the hotels in the area though. Sorry! All I know is that my mom, her friend, my little sis and Madison went to the American Girl store, Times Square, Rockefeller Plaza and a great place in Greenich Village called Peanut Butter and Co. They make awesome peanut butter sandwiches! They have a website too. http://ilovepeanutbutter.com/sandwichshop Madison had the "Elvis" and she loved it.

My sis lives in Queens now, so I can ask her if there are some fun things to do that aren't so "touristy".

Thanks Meghan! I was going to email you! i forgot you were sick the whole time! i really want to go to that Peanut Butter place!!! What month did you go? I forgot...I was thinking the day after his school got out, but I am thinking now I want to push it out a couple of weeks-mid June...give me a couple extra weeks for some better airfare rates!

Hope everyone is well :) Happy belated birthdays to all the Snowbird kids! Also, Splash is adorable!

I've just found out that my job is safe until my current contract ends and I sign the next one. I work as a nanny for twin boys and one of the parents is a public servant. Due to the recent budget, it's been announced that a large number of public servants are being laid off and one of the sections that is being hit badly is the section that the parent works for. They found out yesterday that their job is safe, meaning my job is safe. Nearly cried with happiness!

Glad to hear it!! I know you are relieved!!
Meghan--I am thinking that may/june will be a good weather time--not too hot and humid yet, but not freezing!

Thank you! I was so worried, not only for me, but for the parent. I love the family that I work for and would be so heart broken if I could no longer work for them.
