~Snowbird Chat 2~

My brother is an MSU grad.
Your hubby sounds so funny!
I hope your leg holds up too!!

He's a GREAT guy. Even if it took him 10.5 years of marriage to swallow the Disney kool-aid! :rotfl:

Leg didn't hold up.

Well, it did. I mean, I got through the museum fine... but the car ride there made my leg hurt. Then, when I tried to sleep that night, my leg hurt. Which meant yesterday, I was tired with a hurting leg and another car ride. I napped, some, but last night was more of same. I'm trying to kill the pain with OTC painkillers. Hmph.

But I'm wearing my first ever knitted sweater! And, a day after I finished the sweater, I finished my first ever knitted socks! (I have almost no use for the socks, but they're pretty!)

I had a very talented friend of mine make a messenger bag for our upcoming trip. It's the most amazing bag I've ever seen! It's a red Mickey fabric with a black Mickey silhouette on the front. I'll have to post pictures as soon as I get it. I've only seen it on her Facebook page.

Sarah...sorry about your leg:hug:....would love to see pics of your sweater and socks!!!! I bet they are so cute!!

Shelly..hope you didnt get too bad of weather today...we would love for you to send us your rain!!! We are still in a drought--with a wind advisory! Great..so the chances of fires are higher and the wind is just whipping away any water!!

Mindy...show us that bag!!!! I am anxious to see it!

Meghan...maybe all that running about will get you going!!have you lost any weight yet? That is usually a good 1st sign!! it's usually just a pound or so...but a sign nonetheless!!

Meghan, I've been thinking about you a lot lately. I hope everything goes smoothly! :goodvibes
I was just catching up on Shelly & Jo's PTR, and Jo said something like "congratulations on the new baby" and I thought :yay:!...but she must have meant, the new baby arriving soon. ;) I always save the Snowbirds thread for last (because it's the best, of course) when I check my subscriptions, but I might have to change that for now so I can keep up-to-date on the baby news. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the link, Meghan. Looks like she won't be back and up and running in time for our vacation, though. Guess the boys will go without tie dye shirts this trip.

I bet you're getting excited for your little guy to arrive. Hope you get all of your stuff done :)

No problem...her stuff is amazing!

I'm getting very excited, but I feel as if he's never going to come!

Good luck getting everything done Meghan!! I can't wait to see pics of that little guy. How's Madison doing with everything, is she excited?

I got everything done yesterday which was great. Madison is getting excited, but she won't admit it. She's too cool for that. I swear, she's 8 going on 16!

I haven't lost any weight, but I don't remember losing any when I was pregnant with Madison. All that running around did absolutely nothing yesterday...I'm so bummed.

Thanks! I will definately keep all of you posted on any baby news.

Hey Friends! :goodvibes

Well I am home from all my travelling. I had an awesome time up in Ft MAcmurray with my sister in law and my 4 wonderful nephews!!! They are just absolutley adorable! Miss them so much already!

I had an amazing weekend in Minneapolis at the Beth Moore conference - she is one inspiring lady! Getting to meet up with Sheree was the icing on the cake! We had a short but sweet time together and I am so grateful for the park maps she brought back from WDW for me!!! Thanks Sheree!

Things here at home are not so fabulous - Ken is really struggling with some of the things he has to work out due to his depression and stress. He is going to a counselor and on meds but this is going to be a VERY long haul for all of us and I would greatly appreciate your prayers, thoughts and pixie dust sent our way whenever you think of it!

On a positive note, we are in double digits now coming up to our trip!!! :cool1: Believe you me this trip can not come quickly enough! I soooo need to be in my happy place again! I NEED to hug me some mickey mouse and ride soarin' multiple times!! :upsidedow

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the weather wherever you happen to be! :)

Kim!! girl we missed you!! Glad you had a great time with your family, and that Beth Moore did not disappoint!! Sorry to hear that Ken is having a difficult time with this....counselors and the process of talking through stuff can be SOOOOO exhausting!! We will be praying for him...tell him to hang in there...he'll be glad he did! Your trip will be here before you know it!!!

Sarah...sorry about your leg:hug:....would love to see pics of your sweater and socks!!!! I bet they are so cute!!

My photographer is a hair uncooperative, so I think I look much nicer in the sweater than the photos show:

I wore the sweater on my Monday (our office is SO cold!) but I don't think there's much need for the socks until fall!

Oh mY Gosh!!! Sarah.....that is amazing!!!! I am totally impressed!! What a good job you did!! How long did that take? thanks for the pics... just know that we are all gonna be totally envious of your talent and skill!

The sweater took... hmm. I started it on April 30 and finished on May 18, but I took a few days off when my parents were in town (2 days, I think)... so just over 2 weeks? It's an advantage to be short when knitting a sweater, that's for sure!

The socks took longer because they were my "on the go" project. Lunch time, doctor's office visits, and that sort of thing. But I probably picked one of the more challenging patterns for those! I can't do it the easy way! ;)

Kim - I'm so sorry Ken is having a tough time. I hope and pray things will improve with the help he's getting. On a side note - it was great to see you even if only for a little while!!
Double digits you say??? Well I believe that requires a little dancing!

:banana::banana:party:

Sarah - HOLY HANNAH! Those are soooo cute! I love the color and design of the sweater! Those socks look really cozy! Perfect for cold winter nights in MI right? Good job!!! I am envious - I definitely don't have the patience or talent for that kind of project. I tried counted cross stitch once. gave it to someone else to do.

Kim, we are definitely praying for Ken and your whole family. :grouphug:

Sarah, WOW I am so impressed! :worship: I've never been able to catch on to knitting. :confused3

Okay, I'm getting back into the swing of this. Missing you all so much! Ready to start posting again.

-Shelly, I hope that the weather wasn't too bad for you. We have been missing it by a matter of miles.

-Shawna, it is dry as a bone here, too. We need rain! (Just not tornados and rain.) We've been trying to grow grass in our backyard and it's been a nightmare.

-Sarah- Great socks!:thumbsup2

Kim- I am a little jealous of your Beth Moore experience.:cutie:

My sweet Meg- Hang in there, sister! You know I'm feeling your pain and anticipation. God's timing it perfect.

Thanks, all! I'm knitting a ton because I have too much yarn! ;)

We're lucky that we've avoided almost all of the severe weather. Not to say that we're not all turning in to drowned rats, but nothing severe. Of course, lightening hit a local school overnight and a few major roads are flooded, but those are pretty much NBD.

My in-laws were supposed to arrive today. They fly their own little plane and need clear skies to make it happen. It's still raining. They're going to fly to BIL's today, instead. If the weather is good tomorrow, they'll fly to us. It's iffy. But they want us to drive to BIL's this weekend. Unfortunately... I can't. We went to Cleveland on Saturday and back Sunday and it was Tuesday before I was pain free... I can't imagine making a 2x as long car ride. Then not being able to sit with my leg propped up. And having to stay in a bedroom on a second floor, when it's almost impossible to go down stairs. I wish THEY would just fly there and then drive the rest of the way.

I'm tired of looking like the evil DIL/SIL. I'm not. I'm just a clutz! ;)

(But if they don't come, it's not so bad, either... a whole long weekend where I can lay around in my pjs surely sounds delightful!)

In better news...

OUR TRIP IS PAID IN FULL!! 46 days to go!!!

I'm going to love living vicariously through all of your trips. Haha! Our next trip is scheduled for 2013. Belle will be 5 and Ev will almost be 2.

Did anyone watch American Idol? Thoughts?

soleil!!! glad you are finally back sister!!!! We missed you here! Yep...it's pretty parched over here! Every time my mom mentions rain I think of you...you are closer to her than I am! LOL!! I did some work in my flower beds yesterday...added a few things for summer...watered...then watered again this morning. Man...it is suuuuummer time here! Almost 80 degrees by 9 this morning!!!
Today is the last ballet/twirling class day for my little dancer! Recital and dress rehearsal this weekend... we are tired and ready for a break...or at least I am! She danced 24/7,...so she's good with it!
I am still improving energy wise every day with my new meds!!! I am sooo thankful for finding out what I needed...hopefully this summer will be my best ever! I dont remember a summer when i wasn't completely drained and sooo tired that it was hard to play with the kids...being tired when you wake up, and then dealing with our heat/humidity maked it nearly impossible for me to function ....but I know this is what I was needing!!!
Most of our schools close tomorrow....a few go next week then it'll be kids everywhere! Hope you kids are enjoying their last days of :teacher: and have a happy summer!!

I'm with you ladies, we desperately need some rain here!! We got a bit from the storm system that hit Dallas, but not nearly enough!!!

Kim...I'm still praying for Ken!!!

Well ladies...one more half day left of school and then its time for SUMMER!! I can't believe I leave on Tuesday for our trip...I have nothing packed and I'm still not sure where I'm going when and where I'm eating at LOL!! Oh well...really learn to let go and just have fun!!!!

Gosh, I wish I could share the rain we've had! Our grass is as green as it's ever been and growing so fast, DH mowed 2x last week!

My DDs are wrapping up dance too. Next week is the last class and the recital is June 4/5. I just love watching them dance!

Soleil - we might not get back to WDW until 2013 either! Of course, we were just there in March and hope to be in Disneyland Paris in March 2012! So I'm not complaining! But 5 and 3 will be great ages for your girls to go! Will it be Ev's first trip then?

I've been updating my TR (twice in two days!) so come on over and join me!

Welcome back, Soleil!! 2013 isnt that far off ;)

Jen~your trip is so close! I wish ours was only 5 days off. We leave three weeks from today :) I really need to start packing (Ive been saying that for months now LOL)

Feels like Florida outside today. It's hot and muggy. Yuck! I have to admit, though. My weigtloss has really helped my tolerance for the heat. I still hate it but not nearly as much as I did 20 pounds ago.

I had a terrible day at work. I hate when see something in a home that I have to report. Praying that it makes a difference this time. Some people shouldn't have children.

My sweet Meg- Hang in there, sister! You know I'm feeling your pain and anticipation. God's timing it perfect.

So glad that you're coming back to the boards! We've certainly missed you over here. I'm hanging in there, but oh so ready to be done. I know that he will be born at the perfect time, but I'm not a very patient person. :goodvibes

Did anyone watch American Idol? Thoughts?

Our next trip will hopefully be sometime next year. Fingers crossed!

I did watch American Idol. I liked both Scotty and Lauren, but I thought that Lauren was going to win. I think she'll still have a very successful career though. They are both so sweet!
