~Snowbird Chat 2~

Thinking of you today, Meghan! :goodvibes I remember reading (and following) the advice not to tell people your exact due date, because then they start pestering you..."isn't that baby here yet? I thought he was arriving today"... Yeah, it doesn't always work that way, so we won't pester! Though my DS10 (11 tomorrow!) was born on his due date. Right at mid-day. We laugh now that that really foreshadowed his personality! He likes to know exactly what is expected of him, and typically complies to the letter.

Soleil, Sheree, we won't be back to WDW before 2013 at the earliest, either. And we haven't been since our Snowbird trip in Jan 09. :sad2: We did enjoy Disneyland Paris last year, though. And...it's time to plan our return trip to DLP! We told DD that we will go back when she is potty trained. And just this week she has really caught on, no accidents at all! :dance3: So now we need to follow through with our bribe, er, positive reinforcement. ;) I'm not sure when we'll be able to go...I don't want to go over a weekend because it's way more crowded then, and the summer is already pretty full, so possibly right after the boys get out of school (3rd week of June), or right before they go back to school (2nd week of August...when all of Europe will be on holiday ). Gotta go do some planning!

Thanks! I would absolutely LOVE it if he decides to come today on his due date. It's supposed to be absolutely gorgeous here this weekend (besides some rain today and a little bit tomorrow) and it would be the perfect time for a baby to arrive. Memorial Day could be his first holiday!

TGiF!!! Got through some really nasty storms last night. So glad when the sun came up, albeit without power. Finally restored about 1:00 this afternoon.

Meghan-thinking of you today. Hope your labor is quick and easy and happens sooner rather than later :)

Soleil - we might not get back to WDW until 2013 either! Of course, we were just there in March and hope to be in Disneyland Paris in March 2012! So I'm not complaining! But 5 and 3 will be great ages for your girls to go! Will it be Ev's first trip then?

Yes, it will be her first trip. :cutie:

Evangeline came on her due date, too! I'm hoping that she will be that way, too.

Meghan- You are on my heart today! :goodvibes

Hey Snowbirds!

Love the sweater Sarah! :thumbsup2

Sending good thoughts for Ken, Kim.

Welcome back Soleil! :goodvibes

Good luck Meghan!

Hello to everyone else. I hope you all have a great weekend! :)

I was out doing something in the kitchen a few minutes ago and I hear Chase shouting "Mickey! Mickey!" He was standing beside my purse and I couldnt figure what he could have been talking about.

Then he points to this. Not to shabby for an 18 month olds first shot at spotting Hidden Mickeys

Good evening! Jumping on here quick before the insanity of Memorial Day Weekend kicks in here! The "unofficial" start to summer....however where the heck is that sunshine!?!? Who's hoarding it!?!? :rotfl:

Soleil - Welcome back!!
Kim - Prayers for the entire family during this time
Meghan - I can't imagine how excited you must be right now. Prayers for everyone.
Kathy - Happy Birthday to your son!!!
Sarah - sweater and socks look great!

Hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend. Don't forget to take a moment to remember the reason we have this holiday. Thank you to all the service men and women (and also their families). You are not forgotten!!

I will very likely not be making it back to the World until 2013 either. We're still toying with the ideas of going to the Disneylands in Hong Kong and/or Tokyo, but we'll see how it goes. I'm so overwhelmed by all the places we can visit while we're here that the draw of Disney is a bit overshadowed. However, Logan isn't really interested in spending that much time in Tokyo, so we're thinking spending three days tops spending most of our time at Disney, then taking the bullet train down to the Kyoto area to experience the Japanese culture. Hong Kong is easier, if we go at all, because it's just a Disneyland very similar to the Magic Kingdom. We could just spend a half day there and not feel like we missed anything.
Though we're also toying with the idea of trying to convince our families to meet us in Hawaii, instead of spending all the money to fly all the way back to Kansas, so maybe we can try out Aulani.

Meghan - I hope he comes soon!

Soleil - We missed you! Not that I get on here as much as I used to or anything either, but your absence was felt.

Oh...I got super distracted and forgot to mention that Gideon and I are officially in South Korea. So far no complaints, other than the flight out here. Don't even get me started. Let's just say the airline is refunding our money, my Dad's miles, and gave me a $200 voucher.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Shelly - I'm not surprised you're staying at CBR again. We certainly loved it!

Way to go, Chase! Finding Mickey already! ::MickeyMo
Super cute bag, Mindy!

Glad you made it safely, Becca, if not pleasantly. :upsidedow Hope you guys enjoy Korea! We never made it to Disney the two years we were in ROK, either. Thoroughly enjoyed our trips to China, Thailand, and Saipan, though...it is hard to pass up such unique opportunities for something you can sort of get in the States. I highly recommend Hawaii, too! :beach: We stopped there for a week when we were moving back to the States (part of the time at the Hale Koa, part at Bellows AFS). Just beautiful! I'm sure Aulani will be fabulous. :cloud9:

I'm back from Bermuda, and talk about withdrawal! It really felt like we were in Paradise! The hotel was gorgeous - the walk-in closet was bigger than a lot of rooms I've stayed in! :rotfl: Very comfortable beds, beautiful bath. We had a harborview room - spectacular. The club level food was great - breakfast, tea service with pastries, hor d'oevres & desserts. The hotel had a private beach, great restaurants, everything you could possibly want.

And the ferry between Southampton and Hamilton - spectacular ride. Never mind the DTD ferry!

DH wants to go back! I've never seen him react that way to anywhere we've ever been. He's already making plans for next year. This could be our annual vacation spot!

Meghan - crossing my fingers that your little boy arrives soon!

Becca - Bummer about your trip - I hope things improve from here on out!

Mindy - Chase is one smart little boy! My girls are always finding Mickeys - they sometimes really stretch it to find one!

Shelly - Glad you had a good trip to Bermuda - Let's hear about it!!

There's a little sun today - I better take advantage of it and get outside! Lots of weeds to be pulled and I want to do more landscaping work. Hope to get to the garden center today!

DH took Sarah to the Twins game last night (I didn't want to sit out in the cold since it was about 55 degrees!) and look what they brought back:

Isn't that cool??

Love it!! We went to see the Phillies last month and I made DH take my pic beside the Mickey statue.

So, I ordered a custom made bag for our trip next month. It cam today and I'm so excited.

Thank you SO much for all the thoughts and prayers. There is still no baby and I'm trying not to get frustrated. My cousin is due June 7th, but her water broke this morning at 1:15am. As of 4pm (my time) she is only 1 cm and that's only because they started her on pitocin. Her contractions are coming 1-3 minutes apart, and she's just not making progress. I have NO idea why her doctor didn't send her home this morning. I thought that in most cases, they want you to be having contractions before you go to the hospital. :confused3 I'm praying that things get easier for her!

So glad you had a great time. My husband's been to Bermuda and he said that it's lovely.

Just wanted to update on my cousin. Her beautiful baby boy, Jack, was born at 5:58pm and weighed 7lbs 3oz. I'm so happy for her and now I'm even MORE desperate to meet my little guy!

I think we'll likely be able to do one of the parks, but probably not both. It really depends. Both are in major cities that wouldn't be super exciting with a baby, so we could end up foregoing both in order to do something a little more relaxing. I have my eye set on the Club Med in Thailand, but it is a bit far away. The Great Wall of China is definitely at the top of our list.

If we do Hawaii we'll likely stay at Hale Koa most of the time, but Aulani is certainly tempting.

Sorry your journey wasn't so pleasant, Becca :(

Thanks. We survived, and the refunds are nice.

After your water breaks they won't send you home, because of the risk of infection. If you want a non-medicated birth they actually tell you to wait until the last possible second to go to the hospital, even after your water breaks. Once it breaks most doctors put a time limit on the birth of your baby. Usually somewhere between 12 and 24 hours, sometimes less. They start Pitocin, even though most women will go into labor naturally after their water breaks within 48 hours. After Pitocin is started, they usually have a certain amount of time they'll allow the mother to labor before they'll start talking about a C-section.
Basically, doctors like to be in control of the situation, so instead of allowing women to go through the process naturally, they start intervening. Granted, most women want the process the go faster, but it isn't necessarily better that way. My sister was in labor for 24 hours with her first. It was a miserable experience for her. For her second, she labored for 36 hours, but overall the experience was better, because she waited to go to the hospital.
Lucky me, I only had to labor for 9, but even then I wasn't fully satisfied with my birth experience due to the intervention of the doctor - statistically speaking my labor was extra short, but he was still in a hurry. If I didn't know I'll probably want the drugs, I would have my next baby at home or in a birthing center.
Anyways...rant over. I'm not trying to scare you or anything. I'm sure the birth of your baby will go wonderfully! I'm sure you'll have him in your arms soon!

I was just surprised that they had her go to the hospital right away after her water broke. With many of my friends who had their water break, their doctors told them to call back once they started having contractions.

I was induced with Madison, so I have NO idea what it's like to go into labor on my own. My doctor used cervadil and I never had to get any pitocin. My contractions started at 9pm (after they removed the cervadil) and Madison was born at 7am the next day. I was really hoping to go into labor on my own this time, but it just doesn't look like that is going to happen. I must say, I'm a little disappointed.
