~Snowbird Chat 2~

Congratulations, Meghan!! Little boys are fabulous!!

Thanks! We know absolutely nothing about little boys in my family. I gladly welcome any advice!!!

Shawna-I posted this on FB the other day, but I got a Kindle for Christmas. No, it's not in color or anything like that, but it's awesome. I have the one with wi-fi and 3G coverage. The books download in less than 60 seconds and they are a great price!!

Anyways....the big news of the day is that we found out what we're having. :goodvibes We will be welcoming a little boy to our family!!!! I come from a family of 3 girls and all of the cousins on my mom's side are girls except for one. Madison didn't take the news so well this morning, but she's getting used to the fact that she's going to have a little brother. Now, on the not-so-great news end....I also have pink eye.:sad1:

YAY for boys!! Congratulations! Boo for pink eye!

Congratulations, Meghan!!

He's celebrating by driving 7 hours to NC to purchase a Corvette. Can't wait to take it for a drive.

Wow! A corvette? Happy birthday to your DH!!

Meghan~you'll do great. Boys are so easy. My second is more of a challenge but not hard to handle at all. Just remember, when changing those first few weeks worth of diapers, keep that thing covered LoL. I've been peed on more times than I can count.

Jenny-he's been searching for the perfect car for a while now. He stumbled upon this one and jumped at the chance. Long drive for a car, though.

22 days to go and we started packing last night. Went thru the boy's shorts and T's (because it darn well better be shorts weather when we get there) to see what fits and doesn't and started throwing things in-will go back and organize later. I packed my rolling Mickey bag as a carry-on and put one outfit in it for each of us in case luggage is lost. Cannot wait!!!:cool1:

Well it's been awhile can I still be called a Snowbird LOL!!! I would love to reconnect with you all!!!

Congrats to Meghan!! I saw on FB that you are having a boy I'm so excited for you!!!!

Well I'm definitely a converted Snowbird going back in 25 days for my 3rd trip to WDW in January...this time not near MLK Weekend...but about a week later! I'm very very excited!!!!!

Doing well!! Enjoy what is left of my Christmas break before I head back to school on Monday!!!

Enjoying Texas and all it has to offer!! We have really enjoyed our move here!! The house finally feels like it's unpacked and looks like a home LOL!!!!

Of course its also nice to have all the Christmas decorations put away in the attic and the place cleaned up LOL!

Congratulations, Meghan!! Little boys are fabulous!!

Shawna-My niece just got a nook for Christmas and she loves it. Of course, she's 11 LOL. I played with it, though, and it's really cool. Books are easy enough to access.

Happy New Year everyone! We are headed out to spend some time with my dad. His birthday is today. DH's was yesterday. He's celebrating by driving 7 hours to NC to purchase a Corvette. Can't wait to take it for a drive.
WOW!! Happy Birthday Mindy's hubby!! Cool gift!! Show us a picture...my 11 year old loves corvettes!!!

Hey Meghan! Sorry you wound up with pink eye!!! I am have def decided against the color Nook...it'll either be Nook or Kindle 3. Probably go to Best Buy this week and see them side by side.
Baby boys are waaaay more laid back than girls! My boys nursed a LOT more than Gracie did, but they were happier babies too!! She wasn't bad or super fussy, she just didn't have that laid back attitude like my boys. I would have 10 boys if Mike would let me!! LOL...they are adorable, easy and lovey!! More kisses from boy babies than girl babies!!! LOL...You'll do fine! The only hard thing for me was dealing with cleaning the circumsicion area. WOW!! Hard to clean and keep them from peeing in it while it's not covered with the gauze. Stressor for sure!! But, just follow the docs instructions, keep it clean and it'll be fine!! Are you gonna pick a name and not tell till he's here? I did that!! I had tooo many friends that liked to take our other friends' names!! It was kinda cruel...but I just kept it all under wraps till birthday!!!!

I am sure you'll be in shorts! When we were there in Jan, we did mostly shorts or capris with t shirts. One or two days we put on jeans or those wind pants that make such racket!! We pretty much just put on jackets at night with shorts...and that's been on 2 trips in January. Only once did it get really cool. I know you are sooo excite!!!!

JEN!! We've missed you!! How are you adjusting to Texas? How's the church going? I need info!!!

Hello Snowbirds!

Welcome back Jen! :goodvibes I bet you are super excited about your trip!! :cool1:

Congrats Meghan! Little boys are lots of fun! :yay:

I hope all is well with everyone. Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve whatever your plans are!

Hey girls...gotta question for ya....do any of you own a Nook (or Nook Color) or a Kindle? I am looking into purchasing one and just wondered what your opinions were...I am gonna post it on another thread too...just wanted to get your opinions first!
I have a Sony eReader, which I love! Light and easy, and it's perfect for traveling. I got it before my Italy trip, since I'd be gone 2 weeks and I didn't want to pack books or try to find something in English in Tuscany! It worked great - I had 15 books with me and they all fit in my purse! :rotfl: I didn't get one with WiFi since I figure I'll rarely be without the ability to download enough books from my computer.

And now I always have it with me, so I always have something to read while waiting in lines (I read while waiting for TSM!) at the bank, eating alone at the mall, whatever.

Meghan - congratulations on the little boy! You'll figure it all out!

And a happy and healthy New Year to you all!

Hahaha....that I know from my years of babysitting! I'm a bit of a clothing snob and I'm always so disappointed at the lack of boys clothes at Old Navy. I just don't know why clothing designers think that all little boys should wear shirts with modes of transportation on them. There needs to be more options!!

Congrats to Meghan!! I saw on FB that you are having a boy I'm so excited for you!!!!

Thanks Jen!

Congrats on the boy Meghan!!

Thank you! :goodvibes

This pink eye really stinks. It looks like I've been in a fight!! The Kindle is fantastic and I haven't been able to put mine down...so much fun!

Having a boy in the family will definately be different. I've been surrounded by girls my whole life. My cousin Tyler is the only male cousin on my mom's side and he has always been SO quiet. He's 19 now and is still the most quiet out of all of us.

We do plan on keeping the name a secret until he's born. People always like to give out their opinions (even when not asked) and I hate that. Plus, I like having something to announce!

Congrats Meghan! Little boys are lots of fun! :yay:

Thanks Shelly!

Meghan - congratulations on the little boy! You'll figure it all out!

Thanks....I'm sure we'll be just fine. :goodvibes

Do you have a Crazy 8 near you? It's the same company as Gymboree but they are a bit less expensive. Cute, cute stuff for boys. I shop there a lot. Gap, too.

Okay, lots to catch up on!
Congrats Meghan!!! Hope the pinkeye goes away soon!
I know not much about boys either!!

Mindy - oooh, a corvette - we will need pictures for sure!

Jen - Hey girl! Once a snowbird, always a snowbird. Of course, I've been keeping up with you on your TR/PTRs and other's threads.

I do NOT feel like putting away Christmas yet, but I want to organize stuff, so I guess I will start tomorrow. We are going out to dinner at an Italian place tonight with a bunch of neighbor families. There will be 32 of us!!!

DH and I went to the Melting Pot last night for dinner. It was the 15th anniversary of our first date. It was a lot of fun! 2 hours for dinner that was not interrupted by whining, or complaining - priceless! Then we spent the night at a hotel downtown Minneapolis.

Shawna - I don't have any ereader, but we (well my parents), got a Nook for my brother. He LOVES it. We opted for the 3g Wifi, not color (too expensive). Another friend had done some research and picked the Nook over the Kindle. She liked that you could go to Barnes and Noble for help with it before having to send it in to Amazon. Another friend just got a color one for Christmas. I would love one for myself. I have books stacked up all over the place! The cool thing is you can share your e-books with family. Our library also has them to download. I think you only get them for a short time though, just like borrowing paper books.

Crzyred - I'm sorry your family is going through such a rough time. We're here for you. Praying for your family.

Kim (Monny) - continuing to send prayers to your family too!

HAPPY NEW YEAR SNOWBIRDS!!!
pixiedust:party:pixiedust:

Awww Happy Anniversary Sheree!!! The Melting Pot is such a great place...YUMMMY!! Makes me just drool thinking about eating there!!

Hope you have a great time tonight with your neighbors! We are heading out to a coworkers around 10pm to ring in the New Year!!!

Thankfully I can say all my Christmas stuff is put away LOL I had my inlaws help...so much easier with 3 sets of hands instead of 1 LOL!!!

Hmm....I'm not sure. I think I saw a new store at our mall a few weeks ago, but I don't remember what it was called. I plan on putting in my 2 week notice to ON next week, so I only have a little while longer to use my discount. I love my 25% off at ON, but the 50% off at Gap/Gap Kids is even better!!!

Congrats Meghan!!! Hope the pinkeye goes away soon!
I know not much about boys either!!

Thanks Sheree!! My eyes look absolutely awful, but I can tell they are already getting better.

For some reason, I had a feeling we were having another girl. All I kept looking at were pink crib sets and I had visions of adorable little sundresses for the summer. So, it was a complete shock when they said we were having a boy. Don't get me wrong, we're excited about it, but thank goodness I have 5 months to go from pink mode to blue mode!!

Ooo...I love the Melting Pot!!! It is so yummy, but definately a special treat. We went at the end of August when they had a special Family dinner night. Madison LOVED it!!!

We just finished up our delicious lobster dinner. It was a tradition started last year. Our grocery store has a great deal on lobsters this week every year, so we couldn't pass it up. Now, we'll enjoy our quiet night at home and maybe watch a movie or play a game.

Happy New Year Snowbirds!! party:

Happy New Years, all!

So much to look forward to for so many Snowbirds this year!!

:goodvibes

Happy New Year!!
Just got back from an old high school friend's dad's retirement party (wow, that was a mouthful)! Had a great time, the kids got to meet some new friends, and we of course had TONS of food and some beverages. They made a punchbowl of Fresca and vodka and fruit-may be my new favorite drink. Rmeinds me of the Grey Goose slushie at Epcot. YUM! I haven't heard anything from the kids rooms for the last few minutes, so I'm hoping they're asleep since it is almost 1am!! Nighty night!!

Hey birdies!! Well, we went to look at ereaders yesterday...Mike got an Ipad!!:lmao: He tried to talk me into it, but I didn't budge!! LOL..he has been debating on one for awhile,..we were gonna give it to him for Christmas, but he said no. THen a friend had one yesterday and was showing him features & options...it'll come in soo handy with our business and all that he has going on. Anyway...I ended up back at B&N and got the Nook! I didn't do Nook Color...I just did regular with wifi and 3G...I am charging it and about to register it....it's beautiful!!! I thought the guy was knowledgeable, but not pushy and compared to the kindle (I saw one at Best buy) I liked the way it felt. I guess it just fit ME better...so, I am excited..can't wait to start navigating it!! Also, B &N has a larger book selection and it's right down the road if I get hung up and need assistance. Thanks for all your input!!!

How exciting, Shawna! Matt and I both have iPads and are so dependent on ours. We use them for everything! I was playing with my niece's nook the other day and it is really cool.

So . . . here is my husband's birthday present to himself. He has been walking on cloud nine since he got home with it last night.
