~Snowbird Chat 2~

Keaton starts Kindergarten tomorrow!:scared1: I didn't think I'd freak out, but I'm freaking out a bit! Thankfully it's only a 1/2 day tomorrow, full day Friday, then they'll start full weeks next week. Yep, mommas got the first day of school jitters!:sad1:

This is the first year I didn't tear up a little! Did he have a good first day today?

No leads on daycare kiddos yet. I've had a couple calls for 10yr olds needing before and after school care but I cater more towards the little ones. I'm not stressing over it. The right families will come along at some point.

I am however considering taking the 2 college courses I need to reinstate my teaching certification just in case. Emily starts K next year and although I'd really like to continue to work from home it can't hurt to have myself prepped in case I need to get back out there in a year or so. Working from home has it's perks. I wear comfy clothes, have down time for chatting on the computer or drinking a cup of tea (like today when I got up at 7 for a family that has yet to show :rolleyes1), I don't have to worry about what to do when my kids are sick but it certainly isn't as steady of an income or have the benefits like I had when I was in the public schools. I enjoy what I do much more now than when I was in the public schools though.

I know our district has "permanent subs". Could you be one of these next year? That way, if you needed a day off, you could probably still have it since you control when you work, but it would give you a paycheck....

:rotfl:
Did the girls all write up an agreement that they all sign stating rent and rules? If not, I'm going to strongly recommend this, especially given how jumpy one of them is already. I know it's hard to do that among friends, but I'd be scared of that other girl changing her mind a month or so.

So just an update on my life. Yesterday was my birthday (thanks for all the happy wishes on facebook :goodvibes) and I got called into the office at work to get yelled at, again. I have no idea really why it's always me, so I made the decision last night that on Friday I will be putting in my 2 week notice. (no comments on facebook yet please...) I have no job yet lined up, and quite frankly, I don't care :rolleyes1. I'm lucky enough to still be at home right now, so that I don't have to worry about rent/electric/water all that good stuff.

I just have to worry about getting my time off for Disney in Dec!;)

Prayers and good wishes are always welcome!!

Have a great day everyone!
I don't know if they got an agreement in writing formally, but they do have an e-mail trail of what the agreements were. These do tend to hold up in court! But she's also learned her lesson - when someone says, "Can someone front the money for . . . " her hands will remain in her pockets!

And happy belated birthday to you, too! Good decision on the job, and lots of :wizard: for you!

Sounds like a reasonable plan. Hope, though, that some little ones come through!

Thanks for all the positive thoughts. Keaton had a great first day and there were no tears from either of us. I was REALLY close, and I'm sure if he would've been more uneasy, I would've bawled, but he was good! Told Andy he could go because he was ready to start class! So cute! Came out smiling saying he LOVED it! so we went for burgers and shakes to celebrate!

Kim, I hope you're able to fill your openings! Between that and the extra money being taken out (not to mention smaller-than-what-you-were-used-to paychecks after that) YIKES!! that would be tough! Wish you were closer! I have several friends looking for baby and toddler care that don't want the big daycares. Spots fill up quickly around here. Good for you for going back to school. You may be more into switching back to working in the schools once Emily gets into Kindergarten. Prayers and hugs that it works out quickly!

Hello my lovelies!!!!

Just a quick drive by to say hi and howdy!! We are leaving town on Tuesday morning to drive down to Minneapolis!!! We fly to Orlando bright and early on Wednesday morning!!! Our first night we are staying at AKL then on Thursday we check into Paradise...oops I mean The Poly!!!! We are there for 8 nights then our last night we will be at ASMo!!! The first and last nights are a complete surprise for everyone else!!! I haven't told them!!! My little birthday girl just loves her some giraffes! She is also smitten with 101 Dalmations so because this is her birthday trip I went ahead and spoiled her a bit! Only 5 sleeps till we are on our way!!! Yippee!!! :cool1: The girls and I are going camping with my sister and her family this weekend so Sunday and Monday will be a flurry of laundry, packing and last minute cleaning so I am not sure if I will be able to get back on here at all or not! So if I don't I wish you all a very happy end of summer and a happy beginning of school time once again!!! :goodvibes I will be sure to check in when we are back and tell you all about our adventure! Not sure about a TR yet but you my dears will at least get all the details!!! :)

Ooooooh, Kim (NDG) have a wonderfully, amazingly, magical trip!! Can't wait to hear all about it!

And happy Birthday to your little one!!

I went to Ulta last week looking for Boscia, I am really trying to use things that are Preservative free and good for oilier skin that's also sensitive. What a mix, right? Anyway, a sales rep kinda lady was in there and she was really pushing the Exuviance line...I was kinda on the fence about a couple of lines that they carry there, so I went ahead and got the sample kit. WOW...Not for me girls!! After about three days my face felt almost burned..it was sooo dry and flaky, and RED...:scared1: so, I had planned to go in Friday and find something better...but dd was sick, so I went back Sat...well, after much researching and talking with some friends, I got the sample kit of Dermalogica.

Exuviance is the line owned by Ulta I think. I worked there for a summer a couple years ago, but I worked stocking the shelves mostly, so I can't remember. I did all the initial training to work anywhere, and I think Exuviance was the one we were told to push for whatever reason. I wouldn't use a cleanser that made my skin all dry and red either.
In general, skin care is difficult. While I was working there, I tried the MD Formulations (I think that's what it was called) line. It worked pretty well, but I wasn't willing to shell out the money to continue using it. I generally use Neutrogena. I have amazing skin (not oily or dry...only the very occasional break out in my T-zone. It's a little sensitive, but nothing terribly difficult to deal with), so I mostly just wash it to keep it healthy and moisturized. Keep in mind that you have to use a skin care line for at least 2 weeks to know whether or not it actually works for you. In most cases, good cleansers cause you to break out at first, because they're pulling the built up dirt from down in your pores to the surface of your skin. The extra dryness and redness is not supposed to happen though, so its good you switched. I hope the new stuff works out for you!

Then my evening went downhill after that. Jason came home and found out that his work has been making a mistake in his paycheck since he started at this job more than 5 months ago so they are going to take more out each pay period rather than one big chunk out at once so his paychecks will be $250 less for the next couple months.
I had an interview scheduled for tonight and they never showed. Not even a phone call. It really irritates me when people can't be courteous. :headache:
Plus we've gotten tons of rain here these past few days. So much so that a tree limb took out some shingles and part of our gutters. I get to call our homeowners tomorrow.

I tell ya- Disney this December is beginning to look more like a pipe dream than reality. :sad2:

I should just be thankful we have a roof over our heads but... who knows!

That's terrible news. I hope you still get to go in December!

It certainly was - and here's the upshot (believe it or not!). The other girl changed her mind back (she was freaking out about the rent), they signed the lease, and they're back on track to move in together! I guess we just needed a bit of an adrenaline rush yesterday!! Making sure that our hearts worked.

I thought all this was behind us now that we no longer have a teenager! :rotfl:Now I understand why some species eat their young . . .

Oh dear. I agree that I hope she gets some stuff in writing. Roommate situations are difficult under the best of circumstances with the most reliable people.

It sounds like quitting is a good idea. I hope you find a new job soon!

Getting your certification up to date wouldn't be a bad idea, but I hope you can keep doing what you love!

Kim--hope you have the most MAGICAL trip ever! :cool1::cool1::banana::banana:

Jenny, glad to hear Keaton had a great first day! :yay: What a big boy!

Kimmy...I hope your trip is Fantastic and Wonderful and Magical and Rejuvenating!!! Tell us all about it when you get back and take lots of great pics!!!!

Hi guys!!
We had a roller coaster weekend around here.
Wednesday I found out that Paige made her dance competition line.:yay:
Friday I registered Sarah for Volleyball and said I'd be her coach! :scared1: (it's not bad, I coached another team in that league last year, but now my schedule is going to be a little more busy!)
Friday I found out that Sarah did not make her dance competition line. :sad1: That was a really tough "mom" duty. I think breaking your child's heart should be someone else's job.
Luckily, we had a distraction...
Friday night we left to go on an all girls camping trip with two of my best girlfriends and one other little girl. We had a BLAST! great weather, food, fun... But I did discover that I am getting a little too old to sleep on the ground. Must bring air mattress next time. is there an old person with a bad back smilie? INSERT ONE HERE!

Home today and trying to recover! DH had been working almost all last week at the gymnastics championships, so we hadn't seen much of him since Tuesday!

Tomorrow I've got my third Pampered Chef show and on TUESDAY, I get to meet my buddy Kim (NDG) at the Mall of America!!! I'm so happy we get to meet up like this! My girls are excited to see her girls (and to wish Natalie a happy birthday!

Shelly!!! OMG! You must be going nuts!!! And all packed I presume? I have to catch up on your PTR since I've been gone a few days.

Jenny - so glad Keaton enjoyed his first day! I always worry, and I remember crying a bit, but waited until AFTER the bus left! (just barely!).

Kim -- I hope things pick up for you soon. Keeping your education/licenses up is always a good thing. You never know when an opportunity will present itself!

Happy Monday Birdies! We had a good weekend. Didn't do too much which is why is was a good one! Friday my parents kept the kids and Jason and I went out to dinner ALONE! It's been months since we've had a night out without the kids and it was wonderful! Saturday I went to the movies with my mom and sister then we headed to Jason's sisters for a cookout with his family. It turned out to be such a great evening. We all sat around laughing and enjoying time together which we haven't done too much since his dad passed away. We talked about him lots and some good stories were told. It was a really wonderful and I could feel his dad right there with us.

Hope everyone has a great week! :goodvibes

Kim- Wishing you a magical trip! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!!!!! Hope Nat had a fantastic birthday!!!

Sheree- Congrats to Paige! So sorry for Sarah. I'm sure she's not giving up and will keep on trying! Good luck coaching volleyball! Hope your back is feeling better soon!

sheree.. How much more can you take on girl?!! Supermom!! :) I know you and Kim and the girls are gonna have a great time tomorrow!! Hope your back is better!!!
Kim...tell Nat Happy Birthday :cake::bday: for us!!!
Kim..glad you had such a good weekend..and that's great that Jason's family got together and ya'll could talk about his dad. Sometimes that brings on more healing for them!

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend. This week is going to be so much fun. One of my best friends is getting married on Saturday!!! She stopped by yesterday with her mom to meet Cole (she lives in SC now). Wednesday we have her "bachelorette" party...we're going to a spa to get manicures and pedicures. :goodvibes Then, her rehersal/rehersal dinner is on Thursday night. I can't wait!!! Oh, did I mention that I'm in her wedding? I am just so happy for her and I can't wait to see her in her dress.

We're down to the last two weeks of summer vacation and it's so sad. Madison has been such a big help to me and I don't want her to go back to school. :sad1: I always get so sad on the first day of school. I just can't believe how fast this summer has flown by.

So much to catch up on....
I don't really have an excuse for not being on the boards other than too busy, and my downtime is spent off a computer as I am on one all day long.

I see some of you flying off soon! YAY :yay:

I need to go back and get caught up, and hop onto some of the PTRs! :surfweb:

Jumping on quick to say Hi!

Put in my notice, and with that had 1 1/2 hour talk with the GM about the other supervisors and handed him The List, basically all the things that I've been keeping track of: times, dates, what they did. He was litterally silent for about a minute, then asked why I didn't tell him earlier....:sad2::rolleyes1. I laughed. I don't care, my last day is Sept. 3!!!!!

Today I had an interview with a local bakery. Got offered a job. Pay is .25 less than what I make now. Full-time, benefits and everything. Score! I have a job! Not sure it's something I want to do for the rest of my life, but hey, it's a paycheck! Plus it will be steady hours...yay!

Now however, onto some sad news. The grandmother of the family that we are going to Disney with in Dec passed away tonight. She had a lot of medical problems and the family basically spent the entire summer traveling from here to her (about 2.5 hours) every few days. On Friday they told the family she wouldn't make it through the weekend. So everyone was by her side.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Yeah on the job! Sounds like a definate step up from where you are now. So sorry to hear about your friend's grandma.

Morning birdies....

I'm home from work today with a sick DS. Poor guy. After having perfect attendance at school last year, he's dissapointed he's already missing a day this year. But with a fever, there's no way he's gonig to school. On the flip side, when he's sick, he's more cuddley..... :) I just hate seeing him sick. Thankfully right now it's nothing more than a slight fever and a stuffy nose.

Hope everyone's day is good!!

Aw, I hope he's feeling better soon! :goodvibes

Red--congratulations on the new job! That's awesome that you found something that quickly. :thumbsup2

Drakes, nice to see you again! :wave2:
