Snow to 80 in 8 days–A spoonful of Holiday Cheer (2/5 update Ch 36 - Final Thoughts)

I thought I heard there was an update coming soon. popcorn::
i was about to say yeah right, but looky looky marv did an update.

good update marv, i enjoyed it, even without a bunch of pictures, it was still good.
:thumbsup2

i bet if you told them that you had to take pictures at the meal time for a TR they would not have teased you about that one in the future.

I posted some replies to only see minutes later that. . . wait for it. . . .
Marv posted an update!!! :faint:

Seriously though, what a nice family photo and a funny update! I was laughing at the snowball in dear wife's clothes and the conversation with Drew!

Glad you hit the road early and hope the drive was uneventful!

Saw you had posted just before my updates, making fun that I hadn't done any! :sad2: I'll be back later to make comments but I wanted to tell you I tried to friend you on FB last night so I can follow along on your upcoming trip. Hopefully I sent the friend request to the right person...... :rolleyes1

I thought I was pretty nice! :flower3:

Yep, you friended the right person and I accepted! :thumbsup2

Sucker! :rotfl2:

I'll check when I get home! Hope you have a great trip. Can't wait to read all about it!!! :thumbsup2

Have a great trip, Jen. Let me know if you do a TR so I can follow along.

Thanks! I don't know about a TR - it would never be as interesting as Liesa's and I would probably get harassed for lack of updates like Marv! I do plan to post on FB so if that goes well maybe I'll give a mini-TR a whirl.

No, you heard wrong. This TR has turned into a "cooking" thread. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
We could call it Marv's Marvellous Munchies!!!!!

Wow, these recipes look awesome! You guys have inspired me to add my favorite as well:

1. Pick up phone.
2. Dial number for local pizza joint.
3. Order 1 large w/ pepperoni & sausage, and 1 large cheese for the kids.
4. Wait one half-hour in your family room at 70 degrees.
5. Answer door when doorbell rings and delivery man shows up.
6. Exchange money for pizza.
7. Enjoy!
When asked what i am making for dinner the answere is RESERVATIONS:lmao::lmao:

Good one Rosie! :thumbsup2

I would be happy to be in the same age category as Rosie - she has style and sass! Well Thank you!!!

:rotfl:

Any takers on when the cookbook will be released? My bet is not until well after the Fantasyland expansion is done. :lmao:Or later !!!!:lmao:

Love this recipe!

Me too now I don't feel guilty about no pix in my last update !! Not even a funny one !!!:lmao:

Maybe "Marv" is a pseudonym for Martha Stewart?? And this TR is a focus group test for recipes?:confused3 Regardless, I'll contribute, I'll contribute:yay:! I make a cake called Honey Bun Cake that is so ridiculously easy and makes people think I slaved in the kitchen. Recipe:

Sounds good! Is that from the Cake Mix Doctor?

1 package Rich's (or other brand) dough balls

Um, Glenn? What are Rich's dough balls? I've never seen dough available in ball form :confused3

Darn, I was hoping as I scrolled down that the Sperry's would come into view. Nonetheless, very nice family picture!

I love the story about the eggs and olives. Reminds me of my silly family. My mom's little brother has always been the big jokester in our family. I remember a time when I was a teenager and he was in his mid twenties. It was some sort of family holiday dinner. Charlie had decided it would be funny to randomly insert olives into various dishes. I ended up with a dinner roll with an olive inside it. Luckily, we are a good natured family, so there were a lot of laughs. To this day, even now in his forties, he still occasionally messes with people's food. I recently found a baby carrot in my creme puff. I'd stepped away from the table to get some napkins. My mistake. I didn't see who did it. But I know.:sad2:

Great update!

I love the olives story and how you immediately knew which of those devilled eggs were for you! :goodvibes

Nice family picture, I like the vest your DW is wearing, looks so christmassy! :goodvibes And your eldest son (at least he looks like the eldest, the one standing next to you) looks so much like a younger version of you, it is quit amazing.

Had a great laugh at everyone's recipes, need to study them in detail! I could contribute a guiness chocolate cake in case anyone is interested! :drinking1

Sheesh Marv, I didn't know I was going to have to do so much reading on this report. But a very nice writeup. :thumbsup2

Oh man, have I been there with the strategically-planned packing only to have someone pack something they needed right away in the suitcase that's buried the deepest. You can probably guess my idea as an alternative pair of pajamas. And you can probably guess how it would've gone over. :sad2:

I liked the deviled egg story. Hey, you were trying to make a good first impression, right? Of course, nobody makes a good first impression like Liesa....but I digress.

Again, great update, looking forward to the rest.

Um, Glenn?

Yes Booty?

What are Rich's dough balls? I've never seen dough available in ball form :confused3

I've never found that particular brand, but yeah you can buy a bag of frozen dough in ball form. "They're in your grocer's freezer", as they say. I can't remember if they're usually around the frozen pizza's or where exactly. I usually have trouble finding stuff in the grocery store.

Here is something really simple low in fat but oh soooo guuuuddd, my kids don't even know it's low fat! :ssst:

One Angel Food Cake
One can Blueberry Pie Filling

Mix two together and bake in 9x13 in pan at 350 for 30 mins.

I've made these as muffins too. :thumbsup2 Makes 12 large ones.
This sounds really good, and nice and quick! Nice muffin mix too!
Any takers on when the cookbook will be released? My bet is not until well after the Fantasyland expansion is done. :lmao:
Bet you thought an update wouldn't come out soon either??? ;)

I love your conversation with Drew. Too funny sounds like a convo my mom would have with my younger sister.. Hey your only young once!!! Gotta live an learn even if it may be painful!!! The family portrait is fabulous!

See what you guys started!!!!!!!!
Yes, I'm always mild mannered unless provoked!!! ;)
Marv, I probably would have been thinking the same thing.
I knew we were a lot alike!!! :rotfl:
I am in love with this family picture. The mischief in Drew's eye and the fact I saw that white thing in his hand had me rolling on the floor. He reminds me so much of my 22-year old. And the conversation is so much my "Markie". The kid has, I am NOT kidding you, 24 pairs of gym shoes and he always only brings one pair home when he comes home to visit for a weekend. :confused3
Drew has multiple pairs too due to running cross country and other sports. No reason not to bring at least one more pair with him. :sad2: And that look and snowball in his hand, he gets that mischief from his Mom......:rolleyes1 I've still got mine!!! :rotfl2:
:rotfl2::rotfl2: I so love the evolution (de-evolution:confused3) of your son from "Wise 13 year old" to "DWs youngest son". Our children change "ownership" frequently also - I usually try to maintain my "claim" on the middle one, as he is the most consistently best behaved one, and therefore, most like his mother!
I didn't realize you were a step-mom??? :confused3
good update marv, i enjoyed it, even without a bunch of pictures, it was still good.:thumbsup2
Thanks! Not many pictures on this part of the trip! Probably three more updates before we get to the Disney part of the trip! Lots more pictures then........by March anyway! :lmao:
i bet if you told them that you had to take pictures at the meal time for a TR they would not have teased you about that one in the future.
Actually based on their current opinion of me, they probably wouldn't even give it a second thought! :guilty:
I posted some replies to only see minutes later that. . . wait for it. . . .

It's a miracle, right? Thanks for the complements! Amazing how much of that I remembered as I began to write..... :)

Hey, we can't all be Liesa, but that doesn't mean people wouldn't be interested in what you have to share! We all love Disney around here, so you already have a captive audience!!! ;)
When asked what i am making for dinner the answere is RESERVATIONS:lmao:
What, no Shepherd's Pie? Bangers and Mash? No Sunday Joint??? :confused3
Me too now I don't feel guilty about no pix in my last update !! Not even a funny one !!!:lmao:
We've suffered enough..... ;) j/k Rosie!!!

Thanks on the picture! Funny story about Charlie! I bet I could figure out how to break him of that habit though...... :rolleyes1
Loved the story about the deviled eggs, family stories like that are great and always provide a good laugh.
Yes family stories are really great, especially some I've read from the Brothers Grimm!!! :rotfl: Often truth is funnier than fiction! ;)
Great update!

Thanks! Not the first time I've seen the olive laden deviled eggs, but a different reaction for sure! Yes, that is the oldest son beside me.

As for the recipe, since I'm not a beer fan, it sounds like a great way to ruin a chocolate cake. There are a few on here that would probably really love it though! :)

YES, and sadly, yes! :rolleyes1
I liked the deviled egg story. Hey, you were trying to make a good first impression, right? Of course, nobody makes a good first impression like Liesa....but I digress.
Maybe I should try the Liesa greeting next time...... ;)
I love your conversation with Drew. Too funny sounds like a convo my mom would have with my younger sister.. Hey your only young once!!! Gotta live an learn even if it may be painful!!! The family portrait is fabulous!
We all have to learn these things sometime in our lives. Some learn quicker than others.... :) And thanks on the picture comment!

I was right. An update.:banana::banana:

Now that doesn't happen often ( The update, not that I am right because I am right often :rolleyes1) but hey it's a full moon so I guess I should expect that things might be a bit wonky. :rotfl2:

Great family portrait.

Glad you could turn the tables on the IL's.

The shoes or more correctly the Sperry's.
My DD made it all the way to a campsite to find out she had NO shoes. They usually ride in the car without shoes on if it is a long ride. We are unloading the van and the conversation goes something like this:
Wise MOM: Get your shoes on.
Wiser than mom DD- Where did you put them?
:headache:MOM What do you mean where did I put them, did you not have them on your feet?
LaLaLand DD- no I thought you put them in the van. I didn't wear them in the car.
:headache::headache:MOM- If they are YOUR shoes, why would I put them in the car?
Dh's DD- IDK.

Needless to say I basically drag her first thing the next morning to the nearest store that might have sneakers ( ended up being a Family Dollar about 10 min from the campsite) and I think I made her wear my Dh shoes so she could go into the store. :rotfl2:
Those were the best $7 shoes ( I made her pay for them) we ever had.
