I am sitting in my classroom waiting for my next group of students to arrive and I realize that three years ago today my two daughters and I were in EPCOT this very minute riding Soarin' That year we did not miss any school and were done by May 16th. This year we have missed 12 days and won't finish until May 31st.
How much school have you missed due to weather-related issues?

I am retiring this year and plan to take our first December trip to enjoy the (hopefully) low crowds and see the decorations.

My kids only missed a couple of school days due to snow so the year insn't extended. They do go into the middle of June though.

Don't you love remembering vacations :)

This was our first winter in FL so no snow days for us for the first time in my life. I did not miss it one bit!! My kids don't get out until June 4th though.

Congrats on your retirement!

That will be a very well-deserved vacation/retirement!

My kids were done last week, but I'm still here finishing up some stuff for next year!

We go back in July! (Actually, 2 months from today!!!)

No snow days for my college in Michigan! I don't think we would make them up though even if we did:confused3 My brother had 2 snow days at his high school in IL.

We only missed two days of school due to weather and since we didn't go over the alotted amount we won't have to make up any either. With that being said, my daughter still has to wait until June 12th for her last day.

We missed a couple of days due to snow. However, since I"m in a private school now, we don't have to make ours up. We attend school the same 180 days that public schools do, but we are actually in the classroom all 180 days. We don't take days out for professional development & p/t conferences.

I have no idea why we didn't plan our trip sooner! We got out of school last Friday & we don't leave for WDW until June 9. Next year we'll be going to WDW in May.

We had 5 snow days up here in Southern New Hampshire. Our kids will get out on the 20th of June this year. Lots of towns around us are pretty much the same.

We used two snow days, but they had allotted for three, so instead of Memorial Day weekend being three days, they added in this Friday as well and made it a four day weekend. Our last day is June 26th.

No snow days here in Florida, but, some years, my DD's have had Hurricane Make-up Days!

We missed 8 days in Tennessee, but we have 11 built into the calendar, so no makeups. We are out May 30 and kids start back August 1.

Only 1 snow day in these parts (Central Jersey) this year, so many school districts are giving two extra days for Memorial Day.

We only had one snow day this year. Our calendar had 4 snow days built-in. We did not use the other 3 so they were deducted from our school closing date. In my 17 years of teaching, the kids are getting out the earliest EVER....Friday June 6th. I can't believe it!! :dance3:

:teacher: We teachers have to go until Wed. June 11th though.

I'm not sure I get this....public schools have to be in session for the required 180 days. Teacher workdays/conferences do not count towards the 180.

If we had not had snow, we would be getting out tomorrow. As it is, we will have to go until next Thursday to make up the days. Not too bad.

In response to the 180 day rule, here in Missouri for the last two years the governor has passed an emergency bill that states after X number of missed days, the school district will make up every other missed day. We also missed an in-service professional day that we did not make up. Some schools in Southern Missouri missed 30 days due to snow and ice.

Here in West Virginia (not sure if it is the whole state or just the Northern Panhandle) we have to make up all of the days missed.....but, students can not go past June 9th. We missed around 8 days with too many 2 hour delays to count! Needless to say.......school is not out until June 6th for kids and 11th for teachers.

HI Neighbor... Springfield reporting here. Due to the snow, we will officially get out on the 30th. But, I had already scheduled my trip last summer, so I am sadly ;) missing the last 4 days of school.

We had to make up 6 but, we went on Pres Day and they forgave us one, so we ended up with 4 next week!

DarbyB - I noticed that Springfield graduates several schools in one night. It must be rather hectic moving one group out and bringing in the next. Our graduation is done outside at the football field, luckily we had great weather.
