Snow at Thanksgiving?

We are thinking of going to FW this year the week after Thanksgiving. We live south of Pittsburgh. The only thing I am worried about is the weather. We usually put our trailer away at the end of October. Should I worry about snow? Has anyone ever towed in the snow? I guess we could always postpone the trip a couple days but we definitely have to be back on a certain date. Does anyone have experience traveling at this time of year? Thanks.

I have found that Orlando seldom has snow in November.

It is a real crap shoot in November with weather in PA. The last couple of years have been pretty mild. Personally, I would take the chance and book a site, then just watch the weather and leave a day or two early if you have to in order to avoid bad weather. We used to go to FW the week before Thanksgiving every year without a problem. It has just been the last 4 or 5 years we have gone in October.

Check the weather in Virginia and the Carolinas before you leave. We occasionally have snow in November here too.

Haven't towed in snow, but we drove our MH back from WDW in January during snow. It wasn't fun, and I made my DH drive, but we made it home safely.

We go right through Pittsburgh when we visit our daughter in NC and yes, we have run into snow along I79 and US19 during that time of year. I have never hauled anything though in snow, unless you count military vehicles.

Book it if you can. You can always change your mind. We went last Thanksgiving from Pa., and really lucked out. (DH winterized it as soon as we got back) We are looking into storage in SC so we can go at Christmas, (already booked) and get more use out of it during the winter!:goodvibes

Why not look into it in Orlando and save some more fuel?

We are very new to camping, so we'll investigate all options if you have any recommendations. DH just wants no part of towing in the snow, and I don't blame him, especially with 4 kids in the car, and a 22 hour ride ahead of him!

Highjacking a bit. How was the weather in Orlando during that week?

I don't blame him. I don't personally know of any place in FL but someone here will know. If you're coming back in a short period of time it makes intuitive sense. You can make better time and save on fuel costs, but I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

It was better than the weather in Pennsylvania!:lmao: It was warm enough that we wore shorts during the day, but by the evening we were in pants and light jackets. You almost needed 2 wardrobes, 1 for morning (although we wore our jackets very early, and were sweating by 10 am) and 1 for evening!

That sounds good to me! :) Thanks.
