(Bowie-AP) -- A Washington TV station is reporting that the sniper wanted in eight shootings in the area left a token at the site of his most recent shooting.

Citing law enforcement sources, The TV station reports that a tarot card representing death was found in a wooded area near Benjamin Tasker Middle School in Bowie. Police also recovered a shell casing nearby.

The station reports that there was a message scribbled on the card. It reportedly read -- "Dear policeman, I am God."

A 13-year-old boy was shot and wounded Monday morning after he was dropped off at the school. He's in serious but stable condition.

The shooting was the latest in a series of sniper attacks that began on Wednesday night. Six people have been killed and two wounded.

Didn't the latest video of bin Laden show him saying that we "haven't learned our lesson yet" and "the next round of terrorist attacks would be from God" or something to that nature?

i really don't understand why people think this is an organized terrorist attack. it seems to me that there are ways that this guy could be a lot more terrorizing, if it was an organized terrorist thing.

there are plenty of fruit loops out there...and i think this guy is one of them.

I just think this person is just a "fruitloop" (as Wagamama says) that thinks too highly of him/herself. When I heard of the shootings the other day, for some reason, it made me think of Eric Rudolph. He's a fruitloop that thinks too highly of himself, that's for sure!

Don't misunderstand me, I never indicated that I thought he was one of bin Laden's, I was simply posting something I had heard on the news, and how I think it's weird that someone wrote "I am God" on the tarot card, after the new bin Laden video info became public.

The world is full of God wannabes!

I also think this guy is a lunatic with some kind of grievance or hidden agenda. I just wish they'd catch the man (or woman--let's be politcally correct here!)

Thanks for the link Blondie. I saw the news broadcast last night. The news anchor was visibly shaken. They showed a similar Tarot card of Death. It shows a skeleton. Apparently it indicates that everyone must die - father mother child king & priest. It was chilling to see that card in that context.

Just an FYI, the Death card in a tarot deck does not really mean that death will take place at all. It means and end to a situation or a new change will take place. When I heard that the shooter left that card this morning on the news (and I had heard something else about the card as well) I knew it was a nutcase who probably isn't all that bright. On our news they say this person probably only has the skills of a hunter and no real training when it comes to sharp shooting. Whoever it is though, I hope they get them soon!

Now that the tarot card has been made public, I think they should show it. Tarot decks are different, and all it would take is one person to say, "hey, Bob has that deck, and he has been acting weird lately."

Chief Moose was royally ticked off this morning at the 7:30 news conference, and justifiably so. Whoever leaked the info should be fired. I work in a law enforcement office, and we know to NEVER discuss case particulars outside of the office.

They are motivated by anger or revenge and kill people or categories of people they hold responsible for their problems. BUT THE SNIPER who has killed six people and wounded two others in the Washington area is different, experts on mass killings say. By firing a high-powered weapon at long range, he doesn’t have the same connection with his victims as other killers and he doesn’t leave behind a signature clue, they say. “He stops and shoots and doesn’t hear the screams,” said James Alan Fox, a professor of criminal justice at Northeastern University. “Others enjoy squeezing the last breath from their victim. The fact that the killer has continued to use the same weapon also suggests that he wants credit. “It is significant that he seemed to make it easy for us to tie the Bowie shooting to the string last week,” Fox said. “Perhaps he wanted to say, ‘Hey, it’s me again.’ Part of his purpose is to be important, to announce his presence, to announce his superiority over the police.”

Did anyone see "Dateline" last night? Dennis Murphy asked a retired FBI profiler, "Why?" The profiler held up his index finger and said, "This is the finger of God." He went on to say that when the killer looks down his scope with his finger on the trigger, he is God, in that he has power over life and death. Interesting, now, that the tarot card has "I am God" written on it. Does anyone else think it's a red herring? It reminds me of letters purportedly from Jack the Ripper that were sent to the London newspapers, esp. the letter marked "from Hell."

Helenbear, Thanks for the insight on the meaning of the Tarot card. The death comes to everyone statement didn't strike me as some sort of proficy. Eventually we do all die. Now if the card was believed to signify emmenant death, that is another story.

Dateline wasn't the first to comment on the sniper playng God. Cheif Moose & others have been giving press conferences every few hours since last Thursday. The God comment was made in one of those briefings a couple of days ago.

I don't really care what this evil creature's motive or message is. I just want him off the streets NOW.
