We just booked our trip to Disney at the end of October. I wanted to know how hard it is to take into the park food and water? Do you need to hide it in a backpack or can you just carry sandwiches, snacks and drinks in a bag?

I have never had a problem taking in food or water. We usually take in 2-3 bottles of water and some snacks. There is no way to hide anything in your backpack as they have security guards that check your bags going into the park. Some do a thorough job asking you to unzip every pocket and others only give a cursory glance.

We took bottled water; juice; and snacks in everyday for us and our daughter. We took sandwiches and chips in on the Saturday that my brother and his family were with us. We carried everything in a soft-sided cooler and never had any problems. The security guy said that he wanted to go and eat lunch with us. :)

Yep..it is my understanding and experience that they don't care at all. We always carried in a water bottle each and a few snacks to start the day and security didn't say a thing. Of course, we did manage to hand over quite a few snack bucks to the World in addition to our stash!!

never had a problem. I would never wheel in a big cooler or take up a table from one of the eateries without ordering something, though.

Although officially, Disney requests "No outside food or drink", I don't think it has ever been enforced.

We take bottled water, juice pouches, snack crackers, Pringles, Fruit Roll-ups.

A CM saw DS drinking a Kool-Aid pouch in line at POTC, and asked him, "How's the Kool-Aid?"

No need to sneak, just walk right in (well, after you open your pouches for security)......

Trust me, security is more concerned that you're not bringing in weapons and firearms than they are about food. Think about it this way:

You go eat at Poly, got full, asked for a baggie, catch the monorail to MK, go into MK. They're not going to tell you... sorry, that delicious meal you spent a fortune on needs to be thrown out!

I've seen coolers of every size brought in... on our last trip I was walking down Main Street behind a guy who was pulling a wheeled cooler the width of a double stroller, filled with beer too!!!

Sorry ... that one I DON'T believe. There's no alcohol of any type allowed at MK, and there's no way that made it through a security check. Even before 9/11, someone would have stopped that from going through.

Which is why I was so amazed! The reason I know it was beer was because the flap of the cooler was half opened and there were cans of Bud in it.

He could've had it underneath other stuff in the cooler and security missed it. Believe me, this cooler was a huge soft sided one. I'm sure security didn't rummage all the way to the bottom of this thing. There would have been plenty of space for him to bury it in there.

It could happen. We always take in a mid-size cooler with canned sodas. I remember on the last trip, we had them double stacked, and the security guard merely moved a little bit of the ice off the top with his flashlight. We didn't, but easily could have had the whole bottom layer as beer.

BUT - I certainly wouldn't try it because I would be the one to get busted everytime!!

Well, regardless of whether or not it's *possible* to sneak alcohol in, the things food/drink-related things that they DO forbid if they see them are:

1) Alcohol, 2) knives, and 3) Glass containers, with the single exception of jarred baby food.

You know if you put your clear liquors in water bottles and your brown liquors in soda bottles it can be done.................so I have been told.
