OK, I'm not inquiring into the ethics of it, I just wondered why these posts all say that it can't be done.

We're going in 2 weeks; my disabled husband, disabled son, 2 grandchildren and me. We're staying in AKL concierge, so that when we don't get to the parks we can have fun just hanging around. They even have a water wheel chair! Husband's sister lives in Orlando and will be on hand for some help. This is what I do all the time; caregiving for these people. We do very well together. I've done WDW and Disneyland with 4 out of the 5 of us. I really have figured out how to do WDW and all have a good time and stay safe.

Now my other kids, including the grandkids' Mom, are being very insistant that I must take another grown-up along. My 17 year old has kind-of volunteered, but it would mean a 2nd room, and there's no way we could stretch that far.

We've already paid for our package. What if we just bought Rob passes to the parks, couldn't he sleep in the room without raising problems? The grandkids are so small that they could easily share the daybed.

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it!

the problem comes in when you want to do EMH hrs in the parks. You need a room key to prove you're a hotel guest. The extra person would not be on your reservation so they wouldn't have a rm key and wouldn't be able to join you in the parks.

If that is what you need to do then do it. We go to Disney world all the time and usually stay in deluxe rooms so money is not an issue, but last halloween we went over for MNSSHP and had a room at POFQ for 1 night well my BFF who also has 2 kids of her own and her hubby and my hubbie were all at MNSSHP well plan was hubbies were gonna take the 2 younger ones home and BFF and her 7 and my 8 yr old were gonna stay overnight and enjoy teh pool slide in teh morning without 2 younger ones to have to keep up woth also.. well.... it was pouring down rain and horrible and not another room insight.. we asked so we all ended up cramming into one room at POFQ it was not a pretty sight with both of our hubbies well over 6 ft and solid...well our 2 oldest slept on floor 2 hubbies toghther in 1 very small double bed and myself my BFF and our 2 littlest on teh other extremely small (but yet somehow much bigger than hubbies) double bed! no one checks so in answer to your question can it be done yes will anyone catch you..prob not so do what you feel most comfortable with.. if you are asking permisiion her eon teh board you won;t get it rules are rules and what you would be doing is wrong... but... it is ultimitly your decision...
good luck

I won't debate the right/wrong of this issue, although I do not agree.

I would think this would be even more difficult on concierge, because they will know you and call you by name. They will know you have too many people in your room.

My suggestion would be, downgrade off of concierge and add a second room.

With a package, you have to list all the people in the room and the number of tickets go for the number of people--what could be a problem if an extra person was present was if someone noticed they were there, and they'd be added to the reservation (with extra tickets included-that you wouldn't need because the extra person would also have separate tickets of their own) and there would be a change fee charged--I think it's like 50 or 100 dollars. Also, it would be difficult with magical express which is part of the packages because you get vouchers to travel on the bus by how many people. I don't know if you could purchase magical express separately without a corresponding room reservation--but you will receive vouchers for the amount of people listed on the ressie for the transportation to and from the airport. I guess you could have the extra person take a cab to the resort and just hope that no one at the resort notices (which would entail the change fee and extra room/ ticket cost added on).

If you made a room-only reservation, it might be easier but then you'd lose the package discount.

I agree. If you were not in the conciere level, they would never no. However, there is a good chance they will find out.

Is the money worth being dishonest and sneaky? Spending your vacation worried and paranoid? Spend the money or tell him he can't go.

Sorry to be so curt, but I see this rehashed and rehashed on this forum and I am amazed at how many people want others to validate their cheating the system. Rules are rules.

I don't think you could slip him past the concierge CM's.

the problem is not Disney.

if any guests complaint that you have more in your suites. then and (I think) only then Disney will ask you and your party to get another room or leave.

How about 2 rooms at a value resort - should be less than AKL conceirge. :goodvibes

That's true--I didn't even consider the fact that if they found out an extra person was in the room, it wouldn't just be a matter of a change fee and reservation price adjustment, it would be a problem because the number of people is greater than the max allowed in a room--therefore, it seems possible that a second room purchase might be required or else a resort switch if the hotel was booked. I've never heard of this happening...I wonder if any CMs reading this might have?

At DL California they told me that the rooms were quantity controlled by fire code. At the time My family of 4 slept in one king size bed we wanted a room w/one king size bed. They said the size of the room has something to do with firecode so I had to have 2 queens instead of a king. Chances of a fire are very slim...but for me it's the same reason I buy an airline ticket for my child under 2.
I understand the budget part...believe me!!!! I would like to do what you're doing until I heard about Fire Code.

I've stayed at AKL Conceirge and no one called me by name. the only person who knows who's in the room is the one person who checks you in.. and you may never see them again... I would not worry about it and it is no ones business what you want to do... Your hotel key brings you up to the six floor concierge lounge and the doors will open and you will be at the concierge/food lounge. The conceirge staff is always busy making reservations etc and they are tucked away in a corner The only time they ever talked to me is when I went over and stood in line to ask them a question. The people fixing the food will not even know who you are.. Even though you are staying concierge, you may not be on the six floor anyway. We were on the 5th and had to use the room key on the elevator to go up there.... My husband had to go back home halfway through our vacation and then my daughter came for the end. I gave her his room card key when she arrived and no one ever said a word to her.. We did not use tickets however since we all have annual passes though.. Your son would not be able to use the early morning late evening hours since he would not have a key. Or at least someone would not be able to go... Go have fun and enjoy yourself...
