We pack most of our snacks, meals, and drinks for long drives, so we only stop for gas or to sleep; we may do one McDonalds breakfast when we crave something hot.
For a 2 day drive, I'm likely to pack:
- a case of water bottles
- six pack or more of individual OJs
- 3 sandwichs per day per person, (some of which will be bagels and cream cheese because they hold up better and are nicer for breakfast)
- celery sticks
- baby carrots
- cucumber and red pepper slices
- cheese sticks
- deviled eggs
- gogurts
- fruit
- goldfish crackers
- dried apricots
- chips
- cookies
- gum and mints (for when you feel like eating out of boredom, rather than hunger

)
We take a large cooler in the way back of the van with most of the food; the drinks go in a smaller cooler between the front seats.
We tend to eat more junk food than we are used to when we travel...chips from the rest area stops, etc....so I try to pack healthier options for the car to save us from indigestion.
I agree with the poster who said you have to have something sweet and something salty.
