Snacks you take in the car, when driving to WDW

We bring plenty of water, juice and soda. Cheez-its, dried fruit, nuts, cookies and fresh fruit. Of course you always pick up some candy or other treat at a rest stop or Cracker Barrel.

We almost always drive so heres the list...Trail mix is a must (nuts, raisins,M&Ms) Pringles(do you see a trend here?) Utzs chips (variety pack. something for everyone) Little Debbie snacks, bagels, fruit, soda ,and sandwiches. We always stop for plenty of COFFEE :coffee:

We are driving from NC! Only about 8-9 hours! :rotfl: Thank goodness, I couldn't stand any longer in the car! :lmao: I am shopping now for snacks on the road and bkfst. in the room! I have found some Disney snacks at the Walmart: honeybuns, donuts, pecan swirls, etc. They look pretty good! :wizard: I have also bought some choc. milk boxes (yohoos), juice boxes, can sodas, chex mix, pistachios (by request),oreos (also by request), pop tart sticks, granola bars, individual cereal boxes, and drink mix's to put in our water bottles! I will finalize my shopping on Mon. Would love some more ideas! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc

I ran to the Dollar General this evening for some dishwasher detergent and they had Mickey head cinn. graham crackers in a resealable bag for $1.00 and I had to get them (2 bags) my kids love graham crackers anyway. I will head to Walmart tomarrow to finish up. Keep the ideas coming!! :thumbsup2

While I'm a Disney newbie until April, we drive from Illinois to Atlanta or North Carolina often to see family.

For each kid I pack an easy open gallon-sized plastic bag with napkins and snacks and they control them. I don't usually pack TOO much since we do drive through for lunch and Cracker Barrel for supper. I try not to overdo it so that they are not snacking constantly. After all they have their electronics.

I usually put in each of their bags one dessert thing (mini Oreos or something), and snack-sized bags of crackers, etc. Those 100 calorie packs are good. I look for things that are bite-sized (taking bites = more crumbs and messy faces) and have at least SOME numbers in the nutritional values section.... : )

I got tired of arguing and saying "Not yet" years ago, so if they want to eat the Oreos as we're pulling out of the driveway they can. But that's all there is for the day. That and cutting them off for an hour or two before lunch and dinner are the only rules. Milk, juice, and water are in a cooler they can access.

I guess I do put in one more dessert thing - Tootsie Roll pops are nice.

We pack most of our snacks, meals, and drinks for long drives, so we only stop for gas or to sleep; we may do one McDonalds breakfast when we crave something hot.

For a 2 day drive, I'm likely to pack:
- a case of water bottles
- six pack or more of individual OJs
- 3 sandwichs per day per person, (some of which will be bagels and cream cheese because they hold up better and are nicer for breakfast)
- celery sticks
- baby carrots
- cucumber and red pepper slices
- cheese sticks
- deviled eggs
- gogurts
- fruit
- goldfish crackers
- dried apricots
- chips
- cookies
- gum and mints (for when you feel like eating out of boredom, rather than hunger :rolleyes1 )

We take a large cooler in the way back of the van with most of the food; the drinks go in a smaller cooler between the front seats.

We tend to eat more junk food than we are used to when we travel...chips from the rest area stops, etc....so I try to pack healthier options for the car to save us from indigestion.

I agree with the poster who said you have to have something sweet and something salty. :thumbsup2

Sounds yummy!.........But, I would have to have a death wish to serve DH deviled eggs on a 20 hour drive........ :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We used to buy boxes of snacks for the family to share, but the children were always asking for more or spilling the box in the car. We started buying individual snacks, i.e., individual pringles, nabs, small lunch size chips, individual gummy packs, etc. I would put these in an equal amount of a variety of snacks in a paper sack or lunch box and give each child their own sack of snacksnat the beginning of the day. They were told once the snacks were gone they could have no more snacks. This cut down on me having to reach to the back of the van to hand them snacks and kept them from constantly wanting more and fussing with one another about not sharing. As far as drinks go, we take juice boxes or capri suns.
