Snacks at the Movie Theatre

I don't consider it sneaking in candy. I always have candy and snacks in my pocketbook in case the kids want something. I always have something on hand. I don't find it stealing since i paid for the movie which is what i am there for. Candy, popcorn, drinks are all options that you can buy. Don't we all pay for our tickets into Disney World? Well the popcorn, candy, drinks, souveneirs are all extra. Would anyone consider it wrong or stealing if we bring in snacks for ourselves and our family into the Magic Kingdom? It is the same thing. Why should it be wrong to do it at the movie theatre? Why should anyone have to pay $3.00 for a candy bar that costs $ .50 at the store? Now that is really wrong!

I bring my own candy, but always buy popcorn, nachos and a drink. I like to dip the popcorn into the nacho cheese :teeth:

I'm not sure why everyone else is so concerned about what other people bring into the movie theater. Heck, WDW has a no outside food policy (which isn't really enforced, but still) and how many of us bring in water, drinks, snacks, etc.?

Ours is ridiculously expensive too, but I know for a fact that they don't care what you bring in. We had a surprise birthday party for my daughter, and I scheduled it through the manager. One of the options was pizza while using the party room, but he quickly added, "Or you can just bring in your own because ours is way too expensive." I couldn't help but laugh, and he then added, "Yeh, anything behind that counter is too expensive!" So, I figured I'd ask, "So, how do you feel about people bringing in their own food." "Well, I think they're crazy if they don't!" :rotfl:

We get a large tub of popcorn and one or two large drinks (depending on if the whole family goes or not). Sometimes I'll bring in candy for the kids, but not usually. I don't feel bad about it. They're making plenty off what we are buying.

My two cents.... movie theaters pretty much exist to sell you candy, popcorn, and soda. They don't make much on the ticket price; most of it goes back to Hollywood. If you eat something you have brought in with you instead of purchasing a snack at the refreshment counter you have broached one of their main profit centers. Look, I'm not saying anyone is a "bad person" for smuggling in a box of Raisinets that you bought at Dollar Tree; it's just not healthy for the soul when we try to fool ourselves. I choose not to smuggle (ever) and not to purchase (most of the time). I've thought it thru and this is what I've come up with.

So if you don't buy anything aren't you also cheating them out of their main profit :confused3 My understanding is that the studios make most of their profit the first few weeks, and the longer the movie runs the more profit the theater makes.

I don't know if the soul comment was directed at me, but trust me I am not fooling anyone least of all myself.

We don't go to the movie theatre (sp?) it is like 7.50 a person. We DO go to the drive-in, 2 movies for 3.50 you can't beat that price. You see all kinds of brought in food there, McDonalds, KFC, Hungry Howies, Subway. Now we do go to Target and buy a couple boxes of .99 sno-caps, but at the drive-in we buy a bucket of popcorn to share. I prefer a certain kind of bottled water so we bring a cooler with our drinks in it. Once in a while DS and DD will buy nachos.

all right I am blaming all of you and this popcorn thread for me spending $15 tonight to see RV at the theater and get POPCORN. popcorn:: Thankfully that was for all 4 of us.
The popcorn tasted off tonight....I hate when you've been salivating over something and then it disappoints!! :sad2:

I love movie theater popcorn! I also make a little baggie of bulk candy at the snack stand since I mix and match my treats.

For some reason action movies are more fun with treats. But when I go out with DBF we split popcorn and soda to save some money

DH gets popcorn and we get a drink to share. I usually bring in my own popcorn/nut combination I make at home because I like it better than just plain popcorn.

Usually DH gets M&M's but I usually frown upon that because he gets the dreaded "Theater Fart" that only a combination of popcorn and M&M's can create. :teeth:

All I know is I'm not sure I want to sit next to Mos Mom's family at the movies if there is M&M's involved :rotfl:

Poor college student here.. but
When my friends and I go the cinema near school offers free refills on large drinks and popcorns so like 4 of us (who might as well be sister) will all split one popcorn and 2 drinks.

we have a second run house that offers $2.00 popcorn and soda if you bring your own containers. We sometimes buys movie snacks and sometimes we just go without. I like to get the kiddie packs because they offer the just the right size of popcorn and drink and I don't mind paying $2.50.

Sometimes when I go to the movies alone, I will get pop corn and call that my lunch!!

My theatre snack intake has changed a lot over the years.

I used to get large popcorn, pop, and a chocolate bar (and sometimes licorice too).

Then, it changed to just the popcorn and pop.

Now, I am just as likely to just sip a hot coffee and forget the food-type snacks altogether.

For some reason, I have an irrational fear of choking at the movies and causing a scene. LOL.

You have to smuggle snacks!!! Otherwise you need a home equity loan!

We always buy something. Usually we split popcorn and coke. DH also always has to have Buncha Crunch. It's expensive but we just know that's what going to the movie entails for us. ::yes::

Well I did my movie patron duty, I bought hot dogs, drinks and candy at the concession for $30 for three of us. Of course it's only because I didn't have time to stop for breakfast. I did however bring in the Air Heads and purple Skittles my nephew requested. I still got some bad in me.

Thanks Tag fairy, you've made me feel much more clever than I am with my shiny new tags.
