Snacking through the parks question

Hi, this is my first trip I'm planning and I just got my reservations in for mid December. Some of the days will have a large bit of time between meals and I am figuring on what to do about snacking. Our plan comes with 2 snacks and I'm planning to use my dining plan snacks for breakfast. Can you please tell me how you feel about bringing snacks with you to the parks? It will just be my brother and I and snacks won't that heavy, but how irritating is it to bring that stuff along with you? Thanks for any help you can offer.

I usually just bring some wrapped granola bars in case we get hungry. If you are on any kind of dining plan, my advice is to let yourself get hungry between meals. Drink water. There is a lot of food on any one of the dining plans!

lol I know. I don't eat much in one sitting so I am going to feel guilt leaving a lot of food on the plate, but if I eat a full meal I know I will not want to move afterward.

Most qs and ts meals come with dessert. You could choose something that travels well, like a cookie to go. Out of pocket, most parks have fruit or granola options, not too expensive. You also could split large qs entrees with your brother, like a bounty platter breakfast or the big lunch at Cosmic Ray's, and bank the snack credits for midafternoon use.

I didn't think of that. Thanks so much. We aren't big breakfast eaters and i know there were plenty of options I thought was too big for just me.

When you say large bit of time between meals, how long are you talking about? I always find that the meals are so huge that I don't need to eat much in between, even when I've had as much as 8 hours between meals.

that's good to know. I did early lunches (around 12) and dinners at 8 to 9pm. I didn't bother with breakfasts because I don't normally eat breakfast but thought I would get a bagel or yogurt in the mornings.

That sounds like a good schedule.

Lots of people bring in snacks. It's a personal preference. There's Starbucks in the parks, so for breakfast, it's easy to pick up something light.

yes, i was glad to see that. I was originally thinking of bringing a handbag with water, snacks and a little first aid kit and thought better of it. I really don't want to carry anything.

Depending on what type of meal it is, you really may not need to eat much in between then. For us, I figure for a TS at noon to be done around 130 or 2, depending on when you are actually seated. So by the time you are done, you really only have 6 hours or so from the end of one meal until the start of the next.

Depends on what sizes snack & what you're carrying. Before DS was born, we used to go with only what we could fit in cargo pants pockets. (And it was not much - maybe ID and a ChapStick?) That way we didn't have to wait in line for bag check. Try going without as much as you can. Or pick up a breakfast "snack" at the park instead of lugging one from the hotel.

Pretzels. Pack them in an easy to use container and you are set since you can eat pretzels even if broken. Or, go to your local grocery store and get those $1 containers of cookies or snacks and pop one of those in your bag. Or, get those theater containers of candies ($1) and have those in your bag. Just nothing chocolate. Twizzlers are good.
