HI! I always get the impression that people ren't too impressed by San angel in Mexico, but I always really like the idea of the restaurant, it looks lovely and relaxing. Anyone got any good or bad comments or eaten there recently? Thanks. xxx

We live in Colorado and have good Mex and Tex Mex options here. It was just so-so IMHO. Atmosphere could have been very nice but they were refurbishing the boat ride so there were huge faux stucco walls up to hide the pond. If I had free dining I might do it, but really there are so many better spots to try.

Definitely better restaurant choices out there in Epcot.
San Angel- the atmosphere was really nice and it was nice & dark in there,
but the food was not that great, we really didn't enjoy any part of the meal
back in Dec '06. :sad2:

April '07 we ate at Chefs de France and that was pretty good. :thumbsup2
Trying out LeCellier this spring. :woohoo:

I had the Mexican plate and it was so-so. It also had a piece of steak on it, which I could have done without. We've eaten at LeCellier, Biergarten and the Morroccan restaurants and I would return to one of them before going to San Angel again. It was OK to try once, but I'll try a different one on later trips.

We like it! We were just there this past Wed. and it was good as usual. We always go when we are at WDW. The atmosphere is great and we do enjoy the food. The only complaint is service is sometimes slower than it should be, but we deal with it, it is nothing major to us.

I hate to admit this, but it was the worst meal and service we had on our last trip. Ok, I am spoiled living in Houston but I found the food had absolutely no flavor. I had the pork taco and the meat was so overcooked that it was like leather. (We did have a late lunch so you can say they had left it under a heating lamp way too long.) I think the worst part was that our server never noticed I wasn't eating and didn't check on us for 20 minutes.

I will admit the atmosphere is fantastic. But if you are looking for food that has the flavors of Mexico you will be sorely disappointed.

You may just want to stop by and have a drink. That I would recommend.

We had our worst meal ever at Disney here. Service is very slow and while the atmosphere is nice for a while, after two hours it started to feel a little oppressive (we were longing for some sunshine!). The appetizers were good, but out of 7 people, nobody had an entree they were thrilled with. You might want to go and just get appetizers - that way you can enjoy the appetizers and have a chance to get out of there before Illuminations!

We like it! It's a romantic spot... very dark... lots of ambiance. It's really great if you get a spot right on the water. If you are on the outskirts of the restaurant, it's just okay. We like the food, but I would not say it's the best meal in Workd Showcase. It's just a unique spot, and memorable. We go to Chefs De France and Teppanyaki more often, but San Angel is a neat spot and a nice dark, cool respite from the sweltering heat on a summer day.

We were very disappointed that the chips were not homemade but rather the round, bagged Tostitos!!! However, the food was pretty good other than that...but I do agree with other posters...there are defiantly better options for TS in Epcot. If you are simply wanting Mexican I suggest the Cantina across the street from San Angel...it has great authentic Mexican IMO.

If you want to hear a 30 minute tirade/rant, just mention the name of this place to my family (all adults). We live in an area where there's authentic Mexican food on every corner. San Angel is a taco bell in a nice location.

Ate their last Spring because we had not been in a while, and then we remembered why not: Like the atmosphere, not impressed by the food. Just very blah, and you can get better Tex Mex, or even more authentic food at your local Mexican joint. Like others have suggested, there are better options in EPCOT. FWIW.

i just ate there 1 month ago and i loved it! and i am not really big on mexican food. I had the plato mexicano. It came with a piece of steak, enchillada, rice, beans.... it was very good to me! i was so full after it too. Plus we got a great seat by the water! I was a little scared going into this meal because of the bad reviews, but I left very happy and very full. :cloud9:

Just curious if there is a bar area inside the Mexico pavilion where you could take in the atmosphere, have a cool drink and not have to worry about the food quality?

Thanks!

We didn't like it much either. I love mexican food and this could of been good, but the service was bad and my food looked and tasted as if it had set a while. I loved the look of the place, but thought the tables were too close together. I will try it again one day though.

As far as a bar inside, there is supposed to be a tequila bar added in the near future I believe. However, I am not sure when. There are frozen drinks stand right outside though with yummy drinks.

I have eaten there several times and never had a bad experience. It's not traditional tex mex however. So if you live in MOST of the US and like your local Tex Mex this may not suit you.

I know they've added a tequilla kiosk but that is all that I've seen.

We eat here every trip for lunch. My DD 8 loves it here. Not many kids menu feature rice her favorite food. I know Nine Dragon's has rice but San Angel is the lesser of two evils.

Frankly Don Pablo's has much better food. I don't order the Margarita's here anymore because I swear there was no tequilla in there just generic mix.

They changed over to the bagged tostito's (I'm sure there is a sponsorship involved here) so I can get better chips at the grocery store.

This is however a great lunch spot if you are someone who tours early and hard and now needs some cool quiet place paticularly in the mid day heat to catch your breath. It is pretty cool to eat outside at "night" during lunch.

We Love it. Relaxing atmosphere, good service, GREAT margueritas, good food. I understand they are opening a drink area there this year???Anyway if you have kids they love the boat ride and the plaza shops.

We just love it! :thumbsup2

In fact, we have visited so many of the dsit down places at Disney and this is one we all want to go back to. We love sitting in the dark surrounded by the mexican shops and river. It is so fun and charming. We thought the food was tasty and lots of interesting choices.

I hope you will give it a try:flower3:
