No problem, it's dgcrystal.smugmug.com

No Disney pictures up yet, but that's my goal for this weekend. I've got pics from Free Dining trips from 2006, 2007, and 2008! And each trip I think I took around 1200 pics... I'm going to have to do some deleting and organizing I think :headache: I've definitely been putting it off.

The ones I'm most proud of are under "Porfolio." Those are the portfolios from my Photography 101 class at a local community college.

I've always loved taking pics but recently got into it in August when I bought my XSi and started taking a class. :)

You've got some great images there Karen. Thanks for sharing!

Late last night I was trying to move all of my daily photos (in month by month galleries) into one large gallery that covered all of 2008. Well it was late, I was tired and not being too careful. I ended up thinking I was deleting an old gallery but actually deleted the gallery I had just moved everything over to.

I knew I still had the photos on my hard drive, but all of the comments all of my photo rankings - were gone.

I wanted to cry.

I emailed smugmug immediately - thinking maybe - just maybe they could do something. I didn't hold out much hope however. I had completely resigned myself to my stupid mistake and losing the comments that have meant so much to me from the great people on the daily photo community at smugmug.

Well - I get up this morning to find an email - they were able to recover the entire gallery I had accidently deleted - AND all of the comments and photo rankings as well.

I was stunned.

So if anyone ever thinks smugmug may be a bit to $ - remember this.

In my opinion they are well worth the amount of money I pay each year for my account.

Smugmug has made me a very loyal and incredibly happy customer. :thumbsup2

I agree. On the few times I've had to email them they've got back to me almost instantly with a solution. :thumbsup2

Glad that worked out for you, Jen. I can certainly echo the wonderful support I've received from smugmug when I've needed it. Top notch.

Great story. I too agree that smugmug's customer service is top notch. Glad they came through for you!!:thumbsup2

OT .....Karen ... I really enjoyed looking at your Lancaster album. I live only about 25 miles from Lancaster. Its a beautiful place to take pictures for sure with the rolling hills, huge Amish farms and lots of covered bridges. I think the state of Pennsylvania still has 200+ covered bridges, more than any other state, of which more than 40 are in Lancaster Co.

:headache: I think my brain is about ready to burst. I can usually figure things out but smugmug is testing me LOL. I won a power account in December and I am trying to create galleries with categories or categories with galleries, at this point I dont know which. I dont think I can wrap my brain around Gallery Categories, galleries and categories

ANother super satisfied Smug-ger here.

Thanks to you both! :) I wish we had more time in Lancaster, and I also wish the weather was a bit better! It was so dreary and there wasn't any snow. I'd love to go back in the summer - I'm sure it's even more beautiful.

Also, I just put up the pics I took with my dSLR from our Disney 2008 trip (I'll have another album of my point and shoot pics once I go through them again).

:rotfl: on the galleries/categories thing.

I usually go to "add photos" at the top left, then "new gallery." When you click on that, it will go to a page that gives you the chance to name your gallery, and the option to put what category you want.

You can either display all your galleries (which is essentially an album) on your homepage, or you can sort by category and it will put them under whatever you said the albums were (like "Friends" or "Travel" or whatever). You can also add new categories (I added "Disney World" and "Pictures from Home").

I didn't sort by categories until I had a good number of galleries to start with (and until handicap18 enlightened me on the process!).

I'm curious... what's a power account?

Just did a quick scroll through your Disney smugmug gallery and just figured I'd tell you that there was one photo that really stood out (to me). There are a few of a pink rose in sharp focus in the foreground with the castle in the background out of focus -- really pretty, my favorite from a quick browse through your gallery. :thumbsup2

Not sure exactly what the all the differences are to the three types of accounts they have at smugmug. There is standard, power and pro. The one I won costs I think $59.95 a year so I was thrilled to win it. I was considering getting a smugmug account after the first of the year so winning it just got me into it a month sooner. I will try again with the galleries/categories. I am sure I will figure it out sooner or later.

Lancaster is certainly a wonderful place to visit for photo opps during pretty much any season. The big Amish farms there are so pretty in the summertime when all the fields are planted. And of course fall is an awesome time with all the colors. Sorry it was dreary when you were there. You should definately try to make it back when the weather is nicer.

I will check out the Disney pics you just put up!

The Power Account lets you right click protect your images and also lets you upload and save video files along with a few other things. The Pro accound in addition to what the Power Account has, also lets you watermark your images, you can upload larger video files and you can also adjust the price of the images that are sold from your site so you can make some money (there are also a few other things, but these are the big ticket ones).

After seeing the difference online last night between all of the accounts, I think I may have decided to upgrade to the Power account sometime down the road. I signed up for the basic just to try SmugMug out and now that I realize how great it is, I think having the right-click protection as well as your own special site name (instead of the xxx.smugmug.com) is nice.

Since I don't want to spend the extra dough for the Pro account--and since I don't have much use for one--I think that if I get hired to shoot photos for anyone in the future I am going to make up a price list for prints and a separate price for a whole DVD with x number of photos and sell them that way, seems like I can make a little more on the job and it'll be less confusing than charging a per hour rate like I did last time (without including any post-processing in the price).
