OK - one more thing I just noticed. I have added some of my galleries to a Disney community - and it totally changes the theme of the gallery. It is making me NUTS.

I don't have time to contact smugmug right now - Kylie has her check-up MRI and post op appt and we are getting ready to leave for that. I will contact them when we get back - unless someone here can shed some light on what might be going on.


- whoops nevermind - it was a setting I was not seeing. I had community clicked on appearance instead of smugmug-

I just went and checked it out - the right click protection is still there even for the "owner" - but now the owners can click on an icon that comes up with the exif/size window to save the photo - and it is not there for visitors.

Just kinda strange - ya know?

We just changed that button to "owner save" so owners could immediately tell that it is for owners only.

So I guess it doesn't solve my issue - nor would it solve why I have had to go back and manually choose to watermark all of the photos in certain galleries via photo tools, even though when I view on the customize gallery options - it shows it as already being watermarked.

I went back and manually fixed the one that was having a problem. I am NOT above admitting it could very well be user error.

Here is a link to the one that was not showing my watermark this morning even though when i went to the customize gallery page i was clearly marked to show the watermarks.

The rest of them are all OK. Both my husband and I were messing around with so much on it this past weekend and we were both getting a bit fried - so- like I said - it could have simply been user error.

Yep, I work for SmugMug and try to support this forum as much as possible.

I see on that gallery a small purple watermark of your logo in the bottom right hand corner. If you ever don't see your watermark show up, there are times the system just hasn't got to it yet. You can also try doing it manually in the Photo Tools menu as well.

I check your galllery Jen and it looked fine to me. I like the right click protection and may ugrade to the power account to get that. Right now the Pro is to much for me.

Mark, if it is true you do work for smugmug (no way to confirm it though so I'll take your word for it) then thanks for what you guys are doing. With all thats going on with flickr I'm happy I've switched to smugmug.

I also have a pro account and have been trying to decide if I should go with a BluDomain account and handle my own fulfillment via WHCC. 15% is kinda steep, when they are also charging $150 a year for the service. Though I guess they are still cheaper than Collages.net.

Right now, I have a new gallery on my SmugMug for each set of shots I take (i.e. one for one child, another gallery for another, etc. etc.). I would like to make it so that visitors see a gallery called "Christmas Photography" or something like that, and then have sub-galleries for each year:

SmugMug Homepage-->Christmas Photography-->Year

How do I do this? I'm driving myself nuts trying to figure it out. I have tried creating new share groups and new subcategories and I can't get it to work. Would it be possible to create a new gallery and then just drag and drop the existing galleries into the new ones, therefore creating new "sub-galleries"?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure I can figure it out sooner or later, but I have a free night after work and would like to take care of this and setting up my new monitor while DH is out of the house.

Click on the "Add Photos" link.
From the drop down options choose "New Gallery".
You will then be taken to a page where you can name your new gallery by the year you prefer.
You can create a new category here also called "Christmas Photography"
Then upload that years Christmas photos.
Thats it.

You also have the option of creating sub-categories from this page also but it sounds like you dont need it.

Ya, steery1 pretty much said it. You'll have to create sub-categories then have the "gallery" in that sub category.

It took me a little while to figure it out exactly. It can be a little confusing at first. Its not all that different than creating different folders on your computer, just a little bit different terminology.

Edited - I think I see what you both mean (Kyle-I looked at your SmugMug and see what you mean) but my question is...can I make the new galleries and add the existing as "sub-categories" without having to re-upload all of my photos?? I don't have many, but they take FOREVER.

You just have to go into "customize gallery" to do this. From there you can change the category and sub-category of that gallery. Take a look at this help page on the Smugmug site for more info:

OK, If you have lots of Christmas photos already uploaded but just not in the "Christmas Photography" category and "Year" gallery, heres what you do...............

Find the photos for the year you want to do first - lets say "2008"
Click on the "tools" tab.
From the drop down menu select "Move to Gallery"
On this page you can select the relevent photos you want by highlighting them and either choose an existing gallery or create a new one.
In your case you want to create a new one so type "2008" in the field.
Click "Move"

You have now created a gallery called "2008". You now need to put that gallery in a category called "Christmas Photography"

Select the new gallery "2008"
Click on the "tools" tab.
From the drop down menu select "Customise Gallery"
From here you can put that gallery in an existing category or create a new one.
In your case you want to create a new one entitled "Christmas Photography" (You dont need a sub-category although this can be don from here also)
Select save and you're done.

This post reminded me of my aborted smugmug project Just before the holiday, I was trying to organize DS10's basketball pictures. I was able to create a basketball category then sub category for each week's game. The one thing I couldn't figure out is how to share the category (basketball)?? Seems like I can only share each sub-category(week). The albums are unlisted and I would like to provide a link to the basketball category instead of a link for each week. Does anyone know how to do this?
