Hi!

We are thinking about heading over to Smuggler's Notch in June of 2005.

Does anyone know anything about the resort? I figure since most of you are East Coast DVC members you might have stayed here also.

There are timeshares on Smuggler's Notch and there are private rentals. Do they share the same resort?

Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Deb

We just stayed there last fall and I stayed there a few times as a child. Its a beautiful place with lots to do for familys(water slides, horseback riding, hiking, tennis) All the timeshares and rentals are in the same resort. I've stayed in both and both are very nice. Lots to do in the area too. Ben & Jerrys ice cream factory, cabot cheese factory, VT Teddy Bear factory just to name a few. All that I mentioned give guided tours. Hope this helps.

Thanks Everyone!

I think we will be going there. Airfare via Jet Blue from California is only $156.00 per person!

Now that I know the condos all share the resort we can go and still have plenty of spending money for our trip to WDW!

I have been to Smugglers Notch on a few occasions during both winter and summer months. I prefer the winter there... The skiing is nice and the resort is also great. There is nothing like sitting in the hot tub, outdoors, mid-January at the base of a mountain after a day of skiiing. I will say though, that it has been quite some time since my last trip there (96') so I am uncertain if they have continued their high standards. In years past it was always a great location with a nice resort not to mention the breath taking views.

We went to Smugglers Notch a few years ago, and I have to say that we would not go back. I'm not sure what the "resort" is that you are referring to as there are many separate buildings on the grounds. Our accomodations we not that clean and were very dated. The only rooms I would be willing to stay in if we ever had to go back are their newest timeshare buildings that are a car ride away from the main resort area. I was also unhappy when my husband and I came back to pick up our daughter from the children's program and found them all in the pool in the rain! While there was no lightening, it was pouring and the kids were huddled and shivering in the pool. The other kids and family activities were pretty good though. If your kids are old enough, I would highly recommend the Beaver Watch Canoe trip. Reservations about Smugglers Notch aside, that area of Vermont was a nice place to vacation. As another poster mentioned: Ben and Jerry's, Vermont Teddy Bear, Cabot Creamery, antiquing, hiking, etc.

Smuggs is about 30 min. from my house. I agree that the newer buildings are nicer but the resort is well maintained and very nice. You can ski right you your room even in some of the newer buildings.

They have lots of activities for the kids in the winter. Not sure what they do in the fall and summer.

Views are beautiful. Vermont is beautiful. Enjoy.

I spend a lot of time skiing in Vermont during the winter.
Don't fly to Vermont in June for Smugglers Notch unless you like doing a lot of hiking, fishing, mountain biking, golf and the usual summer stuff. Smugglers Notch is not the best Vermont has to offer someone flying in from California in the summer. You'll probably find yourself driving 3 hours to Boston or 3 hours to Montreal just to do something.
