Smoking at Seaworld

There don't seem to be any restrictions other than smoking inside buildings. Ashtrays everywhere. It certainly was pleasant to eat outside and enjoy a cigarette afterwards without a hassle or having to go seek out a smoky corner somewhere. And no one seemed to be bothered by it at all. No I don't smoke in lines or in crowds, but it is nice to have a cigarette after a meal without a problem. Something I wish Disney would think about - a corner at outside eating venues - but they never will.

How about the family that sits next to your table and gets second hand smoke form your table,while they are trying to eat.Thats why you won't ever see that at WDW except at designated smoking areas.

What you see at WDW is those simmering green recepticles!

I have no problem with designated smoking areas, if in fact the designated smoking areas had ashtrays that accomodated all the smokers. I have seen many of those recepticles look as though they are about to catch fire.

Yup, I have to agree - although I wouldn't say it in exactly the same words used by ncligs. I don't think smoking should be allowed in any eating areas - inside or outside. Just because you are finished with your meal, it doesn't mean those around you are. The polite thing to do is to step outside the dining area to enjoy your cigarette.

I agree with Tina. Even "a corner in an outside eating venue" would be annoying to someone else who was eating as smoke "drifts." I always hate it when we go to the NASCAR race in June and August here in Michigan, it never fails that we have smokers surrounding us and they have no restrictions because it's "outdoors" but someone's smoke from one direction or another always wafts its way toward us. I think EVERY public place should have "smoking sections" and "non-smoking sections" to try and please EVERYONE.

I walked over and said you know when you do that it becomes very annoying for the people in your vicinity. It's very unsanitary.

According to your other post....this is what you said to people who were feeding birds in an outdoor eating area.

I find it slightly on the hypocritical side to say that feeding birds is annoying to others and unsanitary, and at the same time openly profess your enjoyment of being allowed to smoke in the same area that others are trying to enjoy a meal in. To suggest that Disney institute a similar policy is mindboggling to me.

Last time I checked feeding birds in a public place wasn't known to kill anyone. Smoking on the other hand puts the lives of those around you into serious danger.

If people want to smoke, then fine. I couldn't care less if you want to contribute to your own death. But to subject others to the same fate should be (and fortunately is in many places) outlawed.

Excellent post Disney845, I said the same thing to her on that other post.She is complaining about birds,but wants to "smoke" next to someone eating.

This is NOT directed at anyone, but just our comments from our last trip. We visited Sea World one day out of our week at WDW. We were VERY disappointed. It's was such a letdown as compared to our many trips to WDW. Our biggest complaint was that it seemed everyone was smoking, everywhere. We felt that everywhere we turned people were lighting up. We wondered why nothing was said, now I understand. We also felt there were cigarette butts all over the place too. Our DD loved all the animals, but next time she goes to Sea World she'll be an adult taking herself, because we're NOT going back.

I need to say "ditto" to Disney845's post. However, I do want to make clear that I have no problem with people smoking in designated smoking areas.

nert teu cause a fuss...but I wish that all those who visit the world....would not wear strong perfumes....it's just as bad as "smoke" and "second hand smoke" teu those of us who has a sensitiveity to strong oders...no matter what their source.....

I have to agree with Goof here, too. I have asthma. All strong smells make me uncomfortable - smoking and perfumes are the worst. The absolute worst is sitting on an airplane next to a person who smokes (and just finished several before boarding) who then coats herself in perfume to "mask" the smell. This actually happened to me. The combination of ashtray and perfume was horribly nauseating.

Another strange one is folks who think gum or breath mints will somehow mask the smell of cigarette smoke. My DH carpools with a smoker. As she waits for him to pick her up, she stands in her doorway and smokes. When she gets in the car, she pops a breath mint. Like that's really going to help. Maybe she should try rubbing it all over her body rather than putting in her mouth. Incidentally, his car always has the faint smell of cigarette smoke now since she rides in his car 2-3 days per week.
