The question here is whether more acommodations should be made for non-smokers such as non-smoking clubs, non-smoking pools and smokers with starboard verandahs - non-smokers with port. Michelle DOES NOT work for Disney, nor is she their spokesperson. Frankly I think your attack on her was rude and uncalled for as I happen to know she is a wonderful, caring person. She already stated she detests smoke, HOWEVER DCL is a business, they are not a charity or the American Lung Association, we already pay a premium price to cruise Disney could you imagine if they banned all smokers how much the price would go up? I personally hate smoke and think Disney could greatly improve the management of it,, I really like the one side of the ship smoking veranda idea and banning it from the bars, but folks they are a business.
Back to my objection.. I will not sit by and watch anyone bash Michelle or act like she is some talking head... if you wish to debate this feel free to pm me but leave her alone! Grrrrr

I went back to my other post and no one has bothered to reply to it.
What happens when they put all the smokers into one area and the wind blows it to the other side/areas of the ship? Will you demand that the Captain then park the ship so that the wind is right?

Most of the negative comments on this thread have come from people who are INCONVIENCED by smoke. There are SOME to whom it is a true health issue. But there is no documentation that I know of, that can positively conclude that 1 person EVER contracted a serious disease from being exposed to smoke on a 7,4 or 3 day cruise. If someone knows of such a person PLEASE let me know and I will immediately amend my post. The bottom line here is until the world stops smoking, which won't happen soon, there will have to be consessions on BOTH sides of the argument.

But lets not turn this cruise board into a MUDSLINGING RIOT!

Thank you for those who responded...obviously my opinion is my OWN and not DCL's. I am just stating my observation that as a BUSINESS with two ships it is not likely that DCL is going to immediately ELIMINATE a certain percentage of the population as potential guests. They do what they can to keep smoking to certain areas and in the ten DCL cruises I have been on I can honestly say I have never had ANY major problems with smokers. And this coming from someone who can smell a cigarette a mile away and hates it. I understand not wanting to be around cigarettes. I'm just saying that there are smokers in this world and for DCL to just say "sorry, we won't allow you to enjoy our beautiful ships" is just not going to happen when they have such a limited product at the moment.

And with that I will add that this will not turn into a debate on this board...that's what the debate board is for.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but this is what I was thinking... DCL could have maybe one cruise a month on each itinerary that is completely smoke free. There has to be some way to make everyone happy.
