Some black women like to wear hats to formal events. Very often the hats are large and dramatic. Taking this into consideration, yes, I thought it was a very nice hat!

It is something about which most of America commented on without worrying how it would be viewed in a hundred years. Nobody was concerned with its historical significance or how it would appear to future generations.

It is about the only thing that I imagine will interest anyone in 100 years.

When they read all the boring comments about how "historical" it all was and how people were proud to have been a part of the "history", they will yawn.

When they read people talking about the hat, they're going to want to know what it looked like.

Good for the Smithsonian.

...and it isn't just old black ladies. Old white ladies do it, too. I plan to be one.

I think it's a great hat. But I do agree that not just anyone could pull it off. Aretha looked great in it IMHO.

I joined that also. They are some of the funniest photo-shopped pics I've ever seen. Some people are so talented (especially the creator of the mini-hat above!)
