Hi everyone. :wave2: yesterday DH and I were at the rental house most of the day pulling up old nasty carpet and cleaning. I also took lots of pics. I can't believe how nasty these people lived. :scared:

When the lady from the gas company came in to turn everything on and check for leaks I told her I was sorry for the smell and shape of house that it was a rental. She said she has seen a lot worse that some houses she will walk out of and tell them to call her after they clean.

We had to open every window because of the smell  I was :cold: until we started ripping out the carpet.

DH did a search online today and found out the best way to take wallpaper off is to use vinegar and water mixed 50/50. Spray it on let it soak for 15 minutes and it peels off. :woohoo: He tried it on our downstairs bathroom and it works like a charm. Start from the top and peel down, spray more behind any stubborn pieces (it will run down behind) and soak a little more. Take a scraper and any glue on wall comes right off. Wall looks brand new when done with little effort. We had to remove wallpaper from a bedroom that was here when we bought this place. used the stuff you buy in stores and the roller thingy, what a headache that was. The vinegar is a peice of cake.

So glad he found this out :) We have a bedroom with old wallpaper we have to remove in the rental house.

I am glad that we do not have wallpaper here, but glad to hear that your DH found an easy way to take it off. :thumbsup2

Oh S.C., cleaning your rental will keep you busy for a while :scared1:

Glad you found an alternative to removing the wallpaper. Awesome :thumbsup2

M22, how's warm and toasty is it going to be today? :wizard:

I just told a computer client about my husband diagnosticing his computer. :rotfl2: I think I created my own word! * Then, AFTEr the guy left, I thought, geesh its diagnosis dummy!:headache: to myself of course.

Thanks :) Good thing is I buy it all the time at Sams club 2 gallons for less than $4. He read that fabric softner will also work. We are going to stick with the vinegar maybe it will help some on the smell in that house.

We are resting today, we were there yesterday from 2 to 10 pm. We'll go back to work more either tomorrow or sat. Now we have to clean all the walls, patch the holes and get it ready to paint. All but 1 of the closet doors need replacing and lots of the trim does too. I'm in the process of loading the 100 + pics I took to photobucket. I'll post some of them later, you won't believe the filth. :sad2:

Son is laid off of work again so is here 24/7 for his kids. Makes it a good time for us to be able to throw a blow up mattress on the floor and stay there while we are taking care of this. The rental is an hour and 10 minute drive one way for us. BUT...with the filth and smell there is no way we are willing to stay there yet.

:yay: Ok, I can breath easy again, my stomach has been doing flips all day worried about the kid in the ballon.
