Smidgy and the Grump, Freaky Friday, 11-06

I think I went into the arcade to check out the crowds. you get that card for 30 minutes of free arcade time. last time we let it go unused, and I really wanted to use it at POP where they have the "retro" games.

Romper Stompers! I loved those things--they were yellow with green rope. I remember watching every morning before my mom watched the Dinah Shore show. (I'm 41, too. ;) )

I didn't know the color because we watched it on a black and white television. That was all the rage back then.

But I didn't want to get kicked out with them by proxy, so Smidgy and I went inside to eat.

I actually remember what we ordered this night, I had the nachos supreme and Smidgy had the "Mom's Special" which was chicken tonight.

I was disappointed with the nachos tonight, seem to remember them having more ground beef and cheese but Smidgy like her chicken ok.
On the way out, I never expected that group to still be there but they were, coolers and all. All I could think of was they would have fit in perfectly for Pop Warner week.

Back in the room, I'm studying the weather channel again. Not good.

62 tomorrow with rain.
56 Tuesday, clear.
58 Wednsday, clear.
64 Thursday, sunny.
73 Friday, sunny.

I'm still not sure what's the difference between clear and sunny, but these temperatures are NOT what I go to Florida for. Crap, I can get this at home.

After much research and planning, we have the whole schedule made out for us ahead of time. You know how that goes.
Monday is an Hollywood Studios day, a short day at the park, followed by some pool time.

Yep, page one of the schedule just went into the trash, but we kept with the rope drop at HS.

With umbrellas in hand, we decided to for once drive there, and it worked out pretty good. The first thing we did was the new Toy Story Midway Mania ride, then grabbed a fastpass to do it again later.

I'm sorry, I have read nothing but good reviews on this ride, but I was a bit underwhelmed. It was just one screen after another that you would shoot targets in. Your gun would either fire baseballs, darts, or rings, depending on the screen you were faced in front of.

I suppose even a lot of the ducks were given their walking papers.

It's funny, I still love B and the B, but it took us forever before we ever saw it the first time, one of those things we just never go around to do. By now it was time to use the fastpasses and I let her kick my butt again on Toy Story.

Nature was also kicking my butt, by now I have stepped in enough puddles that the water has found the cracks in the bottoms of my old sneakers, and my socks and feet are soaked. After a smoke by the Brown Derby DSA under our umbrellas, we did Good Movie Ride and then found ourselves standing out front, deciding.

"You know," I confessed, "I'm not really in the mood for splashing all the way down to TOT."
"Ok, what about the fastpasses, then?"

I thought about it, "How about we just give them to a nice looking couple on their way in?"

This is easier to say than do.

"Nope, too old."
"Nope,,,,,,,,,,UGGGGGGLLYYYYY!!
"Nope, too many of them."

Then we saw a young couple on the way in.
"THere we go. Perfect!," I told her.

We went up to them and Diane offered the tickets.
The girl was appreciative, the guy, HAH!

"We really need Toy Story passes."
"Yes, and you can still get them." My jaw dropped with his attitude.

Now Diane is explaining to them how fastpasses work, how this won't screw them up at all, and with the rain the car stunt show will be cancelled and all those people will be going elsewhere to get out of the rain, like TOWER OF TERROR!

I just stood there, thinking of the irony of all this, (wow, we're arguing with people we are trying to give fastpasses to).

Sometimes it doesn't pay to get out of bed.

Finally he said, "Well, ok, if this is all you've got," and he took them from her. Well, that's what it sounded like to me.

I said the only thing I could think of then, "Oh, thank you, thank you, you've made my day now!" And we left.

Geesh!

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It amazes me sometimes that you search for people to be nice to, who end up being rude and rude people who don't know how to shut up find you. Why does that really happen?

I'm still trying to figure out how I screwed up D'jay's birthday, I would have bet his farm it was in his screen name.
Dang.

I was feeling odd when I created my screen name and only used odd numbers. The first three I came up with were 369. I was also thinking about the program Disney 365 on the Disney channel, and chose the wrong numbers. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.......:snooty:

Imo, those rudies would have had the offer rescinded

My fav fastpass giveaway was a day DS and I actually decided to do standby at Soarin ::yes:: We had FPs in hand as we exited the ride and saw an older couple staring at the standby entrance really looking horrified at the 90 minute wait time listed. I walked over and offered them our passes, actually had to explain that they could go right on and they were ecstatic!!! I felt good~

A little happiness goes *such* a long way~

"We're a dying breed."

Ok, guess I'm not gonna be able to hide.

"Nice choice of words," I replied.
:lmao: Well done!

I just stood there, thinking of the irony of all this, (wow, we're arguing with people we are trying to give fastpasses to).
You'd think this is a pretty rare situation, right? I've yet to be able to give away a FP! I've given up at this point and just toss 'em or leave them sitting on a ledge, in plain sight. Bizarre. :sad2:

is there still room for disneydad in the suitcase?

hey neb and smidge love the report so far...maybe ill go back and read it:thumbsup2 soon!

:cool1:

:lmao: Well done!

I guess you have to be in the right place at the right time. I haven't had any problem giving fast passes to people before. The people were usually very greatful. Of course, I approached the people with the question "Do you like (name of ride)? Congratulations, you can go right now with these fast passes!" The people I have given them to in this manner think they have won something. There were some special times in our past trip, but we haven't gotten there yet. As soon as we do, you'll read about it in Winkers tr.:woohoo:

:lmao: Well done!

considering I must be the only person that CM's refuse to let us use late fp - I cant understand!! :confused3 So I understand why people refuse to take late fp

(altho we have been receipients of fp - and we were very happy!)

I was thinking about you today...

whilst checking the reading selection in the head wondering if a johns bathroom reader would fit in the basket....

HEY!!!! disney dad!!! love to see you're back! nebo will be back soon! we had a busy family week. kiss hug!

sandy, you have to tell nebo you were refused a late fast pass.( he doesn't believe it can happen.) I always say, "don't depend on it" and he "pooh poohs me!" ( I hate being pooh pooed!:lmao: ) but. he has always been right.. we have NEVER been turned down on a late fast pass! but we have always been there at slow times. what month were you turned down? good to know. just once, I would LIKE to be turned down, just to show him I COULD be right... but then... hmm, he would be GRUMPY!!!!! :rotfl: ... I still say.. DON'T DEPEND on it!.. (at least not if it's going to get your feathers all in a ruffle!.. and ruin your day...or your plan... and then your plan is ruined and it's a paradox and your universe will explode!!!!.
.....but// I digress.

ok, taking a deep breath here. If I offer a fast pass to someone to a popular ride, late in the day... I want APPRECIATION! :confused3  dances:dance3: . however.. maybe we don't SEE the appreciaiton. maybe these people don't KNOW the great gift they are given UNTIL they aproach the line... hmmm... maybe they are... gasp.. newbies...do you always NEED to see the results of a gift? if a gift is truly FREE? perhaps an hour later, they were very grateful; does it take away from the gift? hmmm (not tying this at all to the easter season, and that just happened accidentally, just now, really!, but it DOES fit, FREE salvation and all)

I still like for people to be excited if I give them a fast pass! like when we were in the hallway at boardwalk looking for our room. and walked past a group leaving. you can tell the dif... they were sad, we were happy. they asked if we were checking in and gave us a bag of drinks. 2 bottles of water, 2 of coke zero, one power ade. now we don't really care for ANY of those... BUT.. I THANKED them profusely!!!... (later gave them away, but they didn't know that, so they were happy)

hmm. gift giving and gift receiving. that could be a whole thread!:scared1:

You can't dis the brat capital of the world. For shame.
LOVE the BRAT STTOP!!!
. smidge over the speed limit.
.
smidge!!!!

Can you give a hint at least if you are moving to Florida?
I can't believe he even asked that.

unfortunatley, not any time real soon. waiting for the market to turn over, but you are welcome to stop over in Illinois on your way down. not much help' you'll make it much further south in one day. we are able to move, you guys will be amongst the FIRSSST to know!!!

This must be my lucky day. I found a new nebo and smidgy trip report. I read 2 of the others lurking mostly but I find you just so funny. Looking forward to reading it all. I'm only up to page 4 right now.

:yay:  :cool1: :woohoo:
Cheryl:surfweb:

Poor Nebo Smigey must be working him to hard no time for updates on this great report :laundy: :rotfl2:

Hi, ya'll!
I'm sorry, sorry sorry. It has just been a really busy week, between March Madness and some interviews, and too many times I couldn't tie up the phone, but things should be pretty much back to normal now.
So we're gonna take baby steps, (not babynurses), and get back on track here. Most of the posts I haven't even read yet, so I'm just doing a handfull at a time, see what's there, before I move on and dis the next batch. So shall we see who's in the magic mirror today?
I see Sandy, I see Cherie, I see Kayte,,,,,,,,,,

another RR fan!! :lovestruc

:worship: Nebo - way to brighten a Friday night!!

:rotfl2:
Sandy, am I the only one that remembers something called Treetop House? Or did I dream up that too? Something with a "Miss Jean" maybe?

You can't dis the brat capital of the world. For shame.
Mari, I would never Dis that great town, remember, I used in a phrase that made it superior to NYC. By the way, I used to drive up on 294 to a place called the "Brat Stop" many years ago for the best brats in the entire world, we'd buy them by the multi-pound. I remember it burned down and then was rebuilt into a fancier place, but it just wasn't the same anymore. Is it still there? It was somewhere near rt. 50.
Can you give a hint at least if you are moving to Florida?
Wish I could. all depends on the housing market, we need to sell this place first to get the equity (read, money) out of it to buy what we want. Hey! wanna go in for half? We split the cost of the house, we live there all year and take care of it and then you have a place to come and stay anytime you want to!
Just minutes from Disney's Door!;)

My dh just invited me to go April 15-19 to Orlando, he has a convention
and he asked if I would be okay on my own.
I can't believe he even asked that.
Ok, gotta ask, did you just say, "Here's your sign?"

Had to laugh about giving the fastpasses away ---

maybe ugly folk appreciate things more ?

:cool1:

geesh, you know I was just kidding about the ugly part, doncha? This is what happens when you marry the most beautiful girl in the world, you become opinionated, so don't blame me, blame Diane.
(damn, I'm good, in one sentence I shirked my own responsibility for being cold hearted, put the blame on her, and got in a compliment at the same time)

Maybe the good looking people are so used to others giving them stuff......you should have gone with an ugly couple. We ugly people are so shocked when we get anything.

Oh, right. LISTEN to her!

Nebo just got thru this TR need to go back & read the others!!!! Way too funny except I will have to wait I am scaring the customers laughing at the computer while they sip their lattes.

Smidgy I am with you on the drive thing we also drive down about the same route. Except not only is DH anti-fly he is anti-stop. So its a straight thru drive from the Ia/Il/WI border only gas & food breaks. All potty breaks must be done at that time. We usually go down in Jan/Feb maybe next time Nebo & DH can drive & you & I can fly down with the kids:rotfl:

Can't wait for more.:yay:

Hi Kayte, welcome a bored! Be careful what you say about Wisconsin, the moderator lives up there! Actually, I like your idea, it might be NICE to actually have a conversation with someone in the car woh isn't talking to their pillow!

oh, did I just say that out loud?

You will truly enjoy them just wish nebo would put them in hard copy:thumbsup2
You and me both, Randy, you and me both. Got it all figures out. The first book would be a "Road trip to Disney", then the proceeds would go to bankroll another trip, maybe a road trip to the Grand Canyon and Vegas, then of coarse we'd have to take a Caribbean Cruise to write about that, then we'd shrink that checkbook one more time for Disney and Universal,,,,,,,,,sigh, but now I can't even get Reader's Digest to publish one of my lousy jokes.

I didn't know the color because we watched it on a black and white television. That was all the rage back then.

I stll like watching some movies in black and white. You probably don['t remember but they used to sell a plastic sheet you could stick on the tv screen, it had blue coloring on top and green on the bottom. It kinda worked for Gunsmoke, but Sea Quest looked pretty darn stupid!

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It amazes me sometimes that you search for people to be nice to, who end up being rude and rude people who don't know how to shut up find you. Why does that really happen?

yes, it is funny how they seem to find you. I was just commenting to Smidgy about these people we met during lunch that kept talking as I was trying to eat my wiener shnitzel,,,, and how,,,,,,,, hello? hello? testing,,,,hmm, somehow we got disconnected, it's ok, call you right back.
(for those that don't understand a word of that, we met D-Jay and Winkers at Biergarten later in this trip, they know I'm just teasin', right?)

I was feeling odd when I created my screen name and only used odd numbers. The first three I came up with were 369. I was also thinking about the program Disney 365 on the Disney channel, and chose the wrong numbers. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.......:snooty:
Oh, uh huh, I get it.
(What'd he say?)

Couln't agree more. It's amazing how doing something that really doesn't matter to you can make you feel better. Puts light to " It's better to give then receive"
At least that's what I've been told.

:lmao: Well done!

You'd think this is a pretty rare situation, right? I've yet to be able to give away a FP! I've given up at this point and just toss 'em or leave them sitting on a ledge, in plain sight. Bizarre. :sad2:

Princess, I've had that happen more then just a few times, and not just ad Disney. I thought I saw a guy drop a twenty dollar bill once, and when I approached him about it, I could NOT get him to talk to me, it was like I was Jack the Ripper. Or Mayor Daily!
One time I thought I was going to come to blows with a lady that looked like she was about to give birth any second on the way back from Magic Kingdom, I could not get her to take my seat and sit down. Diane finally got her to take HER seat, and then after she agreed to do that, Diane could then sit down in my seat, with us switching, talk about convoluted logic. But after they switched,,,,,,,,

I changed my mind. :happytv:

is there still room for disneydad in the suitcase?

hey neb and smidge love the report so far...maybe ill go back and read it:thumbsup2 soon!

:cool1:

hey, we have a Disneydad sighting. Be carefull what you read from him, this is the same man who likes to tell his kids they are going to Disneyworld, and after they get allll packed he takes them to the doctor instead, or something like that. Great to see you, Patrick, feel free to join in anytime.

I guess you have to be in the right place at the right time. I haven't had any problem giving fast passes to people before. The people were usually very greatful. As soon as we do, you'll read about it in Winkers tr.:woohoo:

I like your idea, you find out in a hurry whether the peeps are "worthy" or not for the fastpasses. I DID try this approach once before at Epcot, when we still had fastpasses for Test Track left over. You see the bus stop was really crowded, and I thought,,,,,,,,,,,,:headache: Well, I tried. I think I heard someone say, "Yeah, it'll probably break down again as soon as we get near the boarding station anyway."
considering I must be the only person that CM's refuse to let us use late fp - I cant understand!! :confused3 So I understand why people refuse to take late fp
You have to be kidding, right? Let me guess, you get like Diane does, she turns bright red, when she hands it over she stares at the ground, shuffles her feet, coughs,,,,and says, " You probably don't want to let us on because our fastpasses expired 4 hours ago, right?"

(altho we have been receipients of fp - and we were very happy!)

We once really did be the "unappreciative" recipients of fastpasses. All my fault, I could'nt help it. A woman tried to give us passes for Honey I shrunk the Audience. This is the most stupid, useless fastpass in existence. It doesn't save any time, you still have to see the back breaking, mind numbing pre-show, and you always get into the next show anyway since the theatre holds 20,000.
I told her I'd take them off her hands for 20 bucks, 25 if she wanted to throw in Maelstrom!

I was thinking about you today...

whilst checking the reading selection in the head wondering if a johns bathroom reader would fit in the basket....

Did you buy one of the great Uncle John's Bathroom Readers for your John? I mean, your "John", not, "your john."
"John", not "John."
geesh

Anyway, they fit anywhere. They go best on the top of the tank, under the extra roll of toilet paper. Or, if you have too many candles and decoratative ovbjects on the tank cover, they can also prop of that white container next to the toilet that holds that silly brush.

it's ok honey, I might have mentioned the brush once, but I think I got away with it!

HEY!!!! disney dad!!! love to see you're back! nebo will be back soon! we had a busy family week. kiss hug!

BUT.. I THANKED them profusely!!!..Yes she did, she even got a little profusion on me. (later gave them away, but they didn't know that, so they were happy)

:

yeah, big whip. Coke zero, water and some bread I think. Just once I wish people would feel free to give us a bottle of Early Times. NOW we are talking grateful!

This must be my lucky day. I found a new nebo and smidgy trip report. I read 2 of the others lurking mostly but I find you just so funny. Looking forward to reading it all. I'm only up to page 4 right now.

Nebo,
I am putting the blame on Diane
'cause she is so clever the way she has you trained.

Smidgy,
Hope you agree --- compliments get you everthing !

Nebo,
Also -
Are you still on dial-up ?

Wow !

What century is this ?

:cool1:

I just saw my post (above).
Yikes !
What did I do ?
I better take some computer classes !

Or better yet ask my kids - they know more about the computer than me !

Dvc, it's not you.
I have just been kicked off of the Dis 3 times now, the dreaded "web page not responding'. The Dis was shut down last night and half of today for a long time making changes, so before I try to put in another chapter I'm going to make sure things are going ok here first, I've sent enough stuff off into cyberspace. Tomorrow, I hope.
