My DD has sweaty smelly feet, she's only 3 1/2, she's always had them. I only put white cotton socks on her and she has several pairs of shoes, so we alternate. Her sandals are even smelly. Any advice?

Not sure what to do about the feet, but as far as the sandals go, put them in the freezer. Usually the coldness will kill the bacteria that is making them smell. It usually works for me!

We have this same problem with one of our kids. We were told by the Dr to use a spray anitpersperant/deoderant on his feet every morning before socks......and to let them dry first.

As crazy as this sounds, it works.

I have used it on all of our feet when we know we will be in our feet all day...always when we go to Disney or any other theme park..helps to protect against that icky moisture and keeps tootsies fresh!

A friend told me to have DS swab his stinky feet with alcohol every day. I decided to have him try it. I does tend to dry them out, but it works! He'd use the alcohol and then after it dried he'd put lotion.

DD has been using antiperspirant to keep her feet dry since she started pointe class in ballet. Wet feet are deadly to pointe shoes! Anyway, it helps keep her feet dry, but doesn't help the smell as much as alcohol does.

I sprayed my feet with antiperspirant once for a week at
WDW and they broke out in a horrible rash. The doctor said
it was because they were unable to sweat and never to do
it again to that extent.
I have tried everything with DS's sandals. We just scrub them
weekly now and allow them totally to dry. It helps some.

I just can't believe that a small child's feet can smell as bad as her's do. The kids get it from my DH, mine never smells that bad.

We live in the south and have long hot summers :sunny: .My youngest had the same problem with his feet ::yes::. Summer sandals and tennis shoes were terrible after he wore them for a bit :faint: . I found out that if I kept his feet/shoes from getting wet they smelled fine. Don't let her wear her sandals or shoes for water play - buy some water shoes - Walmart has them for around $4 for yard/water play :umbrella: :boat:- and keep her toesies dry with some of the above suggestions and she should be fine.

I found that even if I dry the shoes once they have gotten wet, they are done for as far as smell and his poor little feet would stink to high heaven :crazy2:. I'll have to try the freezer solution. You have to be sure that her feet are dry- you can blow dry her feet but they must be dry :teleport: before you put her slippers on or shoes/socks or any covering. Let her run around the house :dog:bare footed to allow her feet to "breath" and dry out- it will cut down on the bacteria that make the smell.

HTH :chat:

Walmart sells some type of peppermint foot spray. I spray it on sandals too, and it seems to work. It's natural, so it probably wouldn't bother kids.

Or try a health food store too!:sunny:

Thanks, I hate that she has smelly feet, later it could be a real source of embarassment for her.

Gold Bond has a powder that works really well. Just sprinkle a little on the feet, socks and sandal and it should be good in a day or two.
