Smells of Disney

I did WDWCP in the summer of '96. One of my roommates at Vista Way worked in the bakery, and we were traumatized to learn the smell was manufactured. One day, some man ordered a brownie and then asked her why it didn't taste like the smell outside of the bakery. She quickly responded that the brownies really only smell like that when they're super-hot and they can't safely serve the brownies at that temperature.

Granted, it sounds corny, but I was so impressed with her! I would've never come up with something that quick. I would've just been standing there freaking out over how to explain that it's manufactured!

I love the smell the Peter Pan ride has---an old smell. The first time I took my family on it, it made me feel like a kid again just smelling it. They thought I was so weird getting excited about the ride smelling the same as it did when I was a kid. Oh well.

The smell when you walk into the Poly & each longhouse-it brings me back to child hood.

My cousin & I always wanted to bottle up the smell of the Poly & take it home with us.

The a/c smell when you walk on the rides-like Space Mountain, once that whoosh of cold air hits you....ahhh.....

The smell of the Speed Boats on the Seven Seas Lagoon & Bay Lake-OK that isn't a great smell but hey, everytime I smell diesel fuel, I think of WDW.

All the smells, even the unpleasant ones, are great -- with 2 exceptions for me. The roasted turkey legs I find repulsive. I love white turkey meat but could never bring myself to gnaw on one of those things. The smell is unnatural.

And one that nobody else mentioned, that was especially prevalent on my recent trip -- the smell of a thousand poopy diapers needing a change. I can do without that one. ;P

Love the smell of summer there! Anyone who lives where there is long winters will get that I hope. lol

Myst

I have to agree, the smell of the dark ages I never forget.

But don't laugh at me... (its not that I don't want to forget it, its just I cant) lol whenever I'm around a deisel truck it reminds me of the buses.

Another favorite is the smell when you walk in the gift shops, it's kind of like AC and plastic mixed with model glue.... I guess it is all of the new clothes and toys....lol.[/QUOTE]

It does smell diffrent though that normal stores outside the park. But every now and then when I get some new shirts and you smell them it does remind me of stores in Disneyworld.

I instantly thought of the rich scent of the Yacht Club lobby. Whatever they shine and/or wax those beautiful wooden floors with........well, it just stays with me.

How come nobody has mentioned the stink bug in "It's Tough To Be a Bug" ? :hyper: ;)

I have a few favorite smells. My favorites are the smells of the Wilderness Lodge - the lobby and especially walking out to the dock with the trees all around in the early morning. The water smell in Pirates, Splash and a few seconds in Big Thunder. And Main Street in the morning - You just want to eat all the baked stuff!

I remember this thread from awhile back and I just got back from a great 5 day stay.. So I have to add the orange smell that is in the new SOARIN ride in EPCOT!! Even the pine tree smell on the same ride is great... This is a great thread keep them comin...

I LOVE...

...the smell of Main St. USA, candy, popcorn, cookies, sunblock, hot asphalt, all mixed together. Its the smell of excitement and anticipation :sunny: :hyper:

...the Polynesian. The resort has an earthy tropical scent in the GCH and the grounds. It is so relaxing.

...the water. I know some hate the smell of the water but when I turn on that shower it smells good to me!

...POTC, Splash, IASW. That bleachy, musty wet smell is like a little bit of heaven.

...Mexico pavilion. I love the smell inside this pavilion! Even though we haven't eaten there yet it smells great and throw in El Rio del Tiempo and you have a great combo.

...sizzling hamburger smell found throughout all the parks. It smells so delicious and I never eat hamburgers!!! :confused3

...beer and chlorine. Because I like to sit around the pool in the afternoon and enjoy a beer :teeth:

Main Street is my favorite....but I love them all. Even the smell of the room when we first walk in. :teeth:

But, I have to say....I do not like the smell of the monorail. To me, that smells like pee. :confused3 I always look at the seats before I sit down to double check!!! hehhee :p

POTC! ;) I was in the back of my store (I work for Publix) and a delivery came in and the wooden pallets smelled like POTC! :rotfl: I instantly said: "I smell Pirates of the Caribbean!" :teeth: Of course, no-one knew what the Heck I was talking about.....

The xmas shop at DTD my wife buys the glade winter warmer sprays lots of them so we can have it all year round at home

I am also a fan of the dark ages scene on SSE... I got stuck on the ride there once, and it just brings back so many Dsney memories now... SSE is my favourite ride, so that also might be why I love the smell so much...
