#smasthehalf announcement 2/25

I'm in! I'm not able to do DDD in Sept, so I'm happy to get my fill that way. plus ~ double C2C this year. Yay!

I'm in too!

Tink was my only rundisney race and with the move to Mothers day weekend it just wasn't going to work for me anymore. So now I can still run Disney! I'm not all that into the Avengers but I don't care! I'm still very excited. For me, this worked out great. The only way it could have been better is if they had put it in January on MLK weekend. I'll be doing the happy dance all day today! :cool1:

This is great in that it gives us West Coast only people one more chance to do a rundisney race!

I'd like to go on record as saying that I was wrong. And I have not been so happy to be so wrong in a long time.

Now all I have to do is figure out a way to get there and run it. :)

So not surprised by it being an Avengers Half or being in Disneyland, but surprised by the November 2014 date. Thought any new race out west would slip into the vacant January time slot for 2015, with a little more time for people to plan ahead for it.

Very glad I haven't actually booked my trip for W&D yet!! I was debating between 11/1-11/9 or the following weekend instead. It will be tight, but at least I live 30 minutes from DL.

Now, being able to afford booking both races only weeks apart is another issue entirely!!

I was surprised by the date as well. I did Tink this year and loved every minute of it, but in a lot of ways it definitely felt like the red headed step-child with all the focus and hype on WDW the weekend before - there wasn't a lot of build up. The only positive thing many people found about it moving to May was that it wouldn't be shadowed by a big WDW race weekend. But now they go and put this one right after Wine & Dine....it doesn't give them much time to recover!

My hubby wants to do this one BAD!! But we cannot see getting our size family to Cali for the inaugural. Aww maybe next year!!!

surprised by the date, but not by the event. happy it's here and this year, and that I can be a part (hopefully) of the Inaugural and hopefully be a Perfect Avenger! I was gonna do Wine & Dine's 5th anniversary but I'll hold off on that until their 10th anniversary now. This is too close to home to pass up on such an opportunity!!

I was booked at the VGC by 10:50 AM! Pounced on it!

I was thinking Princess in February but we just did Wine and Dine and will have just done Tower of Terror so a trip to DL will be a nice change of pace!

Kudos RunDisney for a great addition!!!!

Called during lunch and PPH is already out of the AP rate rooms with a standard view so I'm gonna wait and book through GET travel. Their rate is usually a bit cheaper than the standard rates.

Good news with this is that it will probably only be a matter of time before WDW gets a Star Wars themed weekend.

This. Kudos to those who love Marvel (DC preference) but seeing as I live in FL and I'm not a Marvel girl I don't ever see myself running this race. If this were SW related then my bank account would be in trouble :lmao:

How soon before we get the inevitable SW weekend Half announcement? I would say either by the end of this year or I could see them waiting to tie it into the release of the new films.

Two things I find interesting:

1. No course map, which means they may not have it up before registration opens, and people will be registering blind in that respect.

2. The exact same prices as the DL Half, even though they sold that weekend out in rapid fashion.

My guess for the latter is due to the massive percentage of women at RunDisney races in general, they are expecting a less rapid sellout for a theme that is clearly an attempt to balance out the Princess/Tinkerbell themes. Inaugural events tend to fill regardless though...

They've tried capitalizing on people doing C2C all at once with a week in between during January, but bailed Tink out of that slot, now they're trying it in November with this and WaD. All very interesting!

We're out, we were already planning on DL+WaD after missing out on F&W last year.

they don't usually have the course maps up until it's closer to the race.

I'm super excited! Hopefully I can sign up when it opens. And now I have an excuse to make a Kate Bishop Hawkeye running outfit! :) I have a Supergirl one, but you've gotta keep your Marvel and DC separate! ;)

Another awesome choice for costume would be Carol Danvers' Captain Marvel.

I already do the Dopey and the Dumbo so there is no chance (time from work or financially) I will be able to do the Avenger Half but I am DYING to see the medal!!

I think it would be awesome next year to add a 10K and make it an "Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D" challenge or something (just my $0.02).

This sounds like a blast!

Kudos to the runDisney folks!

I've already done Dopey, Tinker and I'm registered for Dumbo Double Dare. Being a local to Disneyland I am definitely doing this race.
