Doe you have this problem at your Gym?

Someone will be using a weight machine you need.

They will sit there and knock out a Set and then whip out there Smartphone and play with it for a LONG time-MUCH,MUCH longer than a "normal" rest time between Sets and then repeat.

They just kick back and have at it!

yes all the time, exactly as you described. People will also sit on the equipment while holding a conversation with their gym buddies. My gym has a lounge area for that type of thing, but for some reason, people would just rather tie up a piece of equipment with phone conversations and other personal things.

Yes.

Same with people at red lights. I have a quick light cycle for the only access out of my neighborhood. Inevitably some idiot will make everyone behind them miss the light while they stare at their phone (yet they always seem to finally look up in time to blast through the yellow).

Rant over…

Fortunately, not a problem at the gym I go to, but it's not a traditional gym, per se, with everyone on their own at the equipment. It's class-based or personal training workouts, so there's not an issue with people just taking up space. Everyone is actively imvolved in working out.

I occasionally go to our local rec center, but it's hard to workout the way I like there, because the second you leave a bench to move on to a different machine or area, you can never get it back.

I've been guilty of that. Don't intentionally do it, don't like to do it, but sometimes "multi-task".

OMG YES, YES, YES. It annoys the hell out of me. Like Dude/Dudette get off the social media and just do the reps. You don't need a 10 min break between reps of 10! Each machine should have a time limit, the min you sit your butt down and let it go off like a taser LOL.

Beep Beep really loud

My son goes to the gym for about 3 hours with friends so I’m guessing he’s guilty of this.

it’s definitely acceptable GYN etiquette to politely ask “hey dude can I work in with you?” when they are tying up any kind of equipment and are resting between sets.

I don't use the weight equipment at the gym, but I use the locker room and the pool and both have this problem.

Some of the body builders/crossfitters will pose for the mirrors and take selfies of themselves, despite signs all over saying no photographs or video allowed in the locker room. Watched a fight between a selfie taker and a mom who was helping her very young daughter change out of her swimsuit and was in camera view as the selfie taker took the pic.

At my gym there is a leisure pool and a lap pool. The signs clearly state that water walking, aquacise, or water jogging is to be done in the leisure pool. It drives me batty when I'm waiting for a lane in the lap pool and a water walker is just standing in the water at the edge of the pool, scrolling through their phone. If the lane next to them opens up, I may have extra-splashy flip turns in me that day, or extra strong kicking for a nice splash.

There is a guy who only goes to the hot tub and will spend hours there each day and watch videos on his iPad. About every 15 minutes he jumps in the lap pool to cool off then go back to the hot tub. I've seen him leave the gym as I get there to swim and then come back and get back into the hot tub as I finish my swim. Depending on the distance and intervals, my swims are usually 1.5-2 hours. So he leaves for an hour or so and then comes back. It's so weird.

Totally ticks me off! I just stand there and watch 😂

Phones are prohibited in the workout area and locker rooms at my gym so not an issue for me. The problem my wife has is people sitting on equipment and chatting with others and not using the machine. And my issue is in the pool. We have several "walkers" that insist on having their own lane when they could all be using one lane, or better yet, use the open area with no lanes which has been set aside for those looking to walk or do water aerobics.
