We almost always have a "small world" experience while traveling. There is almost always somebody we know either waiting at the airport that we know at the the same time we are, or on the same plane was we are, either coming or going. They are not always coming or going to WDW. Our best confluence of coincidences was the trip several years ago that waiting for the plane, we saw a coworker of my husband whose said his daughter was doing the college internship program at MK. He was going to Florida, but not to Disney. Who do you think we saw when we got the Philharmagic that evening? None other that his daughter, whom we had never met before. She was kind enough to give us a couple special fast passes for every body in our party that were good for our entire trip, at any park.
Then, later that same trip, we were sitting in front of the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom, and saw a family that we knew from church (who were friends, but, we didn't know they were going the same time we were).
My son sometimes complains that we talk to strangers, but, if you don't, then you never can get to know them as friends.
